In this work, we construct the deformed Butcher-Connes-Kreimer Hopf algebra coming from the theory of Regularity Structures as the universal envelope of a post-Lie algebra. We show that this can be done using either of the two combinatorial structures that have been proposed in the context of singular SPDEs: decorated trees and multi-indices. Our construction is inspired from multi-indices where the Hopf algebra was obtained as the universal envelope of a Lie algebra, and it has been proved that one can find a basis that is symmetric with respect to certain elements. We show that this Lie algebra comes from an underlying post-Lie structure.

The bandwidth theorem of Böttcher, Schacht, and Taraz [Proof of the bandwidth conjecture of Bollobás andKomlós, Mathematische Annalen, 2009] gives a condition on the minimum degree of an n-vertex graph G that ensures G contains every r-chromatic graph H on n vertices of bounded degree and of bandwidth $o(n)$ , thereby proving a conjecture of Bollobás and Komlós [The Blow-up Lemma, Combinatorics, Probability, and Computing, 1999]. In this paper, we prove a version of the bandwidth theorem for locally dense graphs. Indeed, we prove that every locally dense n-vertex graph G with $\delta (G)> (1/2+o(1))n$ contains as a subgraph any given (spanning) H with bounded maximum degree and sublinear bandwidth.

We prove a universal property for $\infty $-categories of spans in the generality of Barwick’s adequate triples, explicitly describe the cocartesian fibration corresponding to the span functor, and show that the latter restricts to a self-equivalence on the class of orthogonal adequate triples, which we introduce for this purpose.

As applications of the machinery we develop, we give a quick proof of Barwick’s unfurling theorem, show that an orthogonal factorisation system arises from a cartesian fibration if and only if it forms an adequate triple (generalising work of Lanari), extend the description of dual (co)cartesian fibrations by Barwick, Glasman and Nardin to two-variable fibrations, explicitly describe parametrised adjoints (extending work of Torii), identify the orthofibration classifying the mapping category functor of an $(\infty ,2)$-category (building on work of Abellán García and Stern), formally identify the unstraightenings of the identity functor on the $\infty $-category of $\infty $-categories with the (op)lax under-categories of a point, and deduce a certain naturality property of the Yoneda embedding (answering a question of Clausen).

Let $\mathbf{p}$ be a configuration of $n$ points in $\mathbb{R}^{d}$ for some $n$ and some $d\geqslant 2$. Each pair of points has a Euclidean distance in the configuration. Given some graph $G$ on $n$ vertices, we measure the point-pair distances corresponding to the edges of $G$. In this paper, we study the question of when a generic $\mathbf{p}$ in $d$ dimensions will be uniquely determined (up to an unknowable Euclidean transformation) from a given set of point-pair distances together with knowledge of $d$ and $n$. In this setting the distances are given simply as a set of real numbers; they are not labeled with the combinatorial data that describes which point pair gave rise to which distance, nor is data about $G$ given. We show, perhaps surprisingly, that in terms of generic uniqueness, labels have no effect. A generic configuration is determined by an unlabeled set of point-pair distances (together with $d$ and $n$) if and only if it is determined by the labeled distances.

In order to treat multiplicative phenomena in twisted (co)homology, we introduce a new point-set-level framework for parametrized homotopy theory. We provide a convolution smash product that descends to the corresponding $\infty$-categorical product and allows for convenient constructions of commutative parametrized ring spectra. As an immediate application, we compare various models for generalized Thom spectra. In a companion paper, this approach is used to compare homotopical and operator algebraic models for twisted $K$-theory.

We study moduli spaces of lattice-polarized K3 surfaces in terms of orbits of representations of algebraic groups. In particular, over an algebraically closed field of characteristic 0, we show that in many cases, the nondegenerate orbits of a representation are in bijection with K3 surfaces (up to suitable equivalence) whose Néron–Severi lattice contains a given lattice. An immediate consequence is that the corresponding moduli spaces of these lattice-polarized K3 surfaces are all unirational. Our constructions also produce many fixed-point-free automorphisms of positive entropy on K3 surfaces in various families associated to these representations, giving a natural extension of recent work of Oguiso.

We prove global well-posedness of the time-dependent degenerate thermistor problem by establishing a uniform-in-time bounded mean ocsillation (BMO) estimate of inhomogeneous parabolic equations. Applying this estimate to the temperature equation, we derive a BMO bound of the temperature uniform with respect to time, which implies that the electric conductivity is an $A_{2}$ weight. The Hölder continuity of the electric potential is then proved by applying the De Giorgi–Nash–Moser estimate for degenerate elliptic equations with an $A_{2}$ coefficient. The uniqueness of the solution is proved based on the established regularity of the weak solution. Our results also imply the existence of a global classical solution when the initial and boundary data are smooth.

We prove a relative Lefschetz–Verdier theorem for locally acyclic objects over a Noetherian base scheme. This is done by studying duals and traces in the symmetric monoidal $2$ -category of cohomological correspondences. We show that local acyclicity is equivalent to dualisability and deduce that duality preserves local acyclicity. As another application of the category of cohomological correspondences, we show that the nearby cycle functor over a Henselian valuation ring preserves duals, generalising a theorem of Gabber.

We formulate general conditions which imply that ${\mathcal L}(X,Y)$, the space of operators from a Banach space X to a Banach space Y, has $2^{{\mathfrak {c}}}$ closed ideals, where ${\mathfrak {c}}$ is the cardinality of the continuum. These results are applied to classical sequence spaces and Tsirelson-type spaces. In particular, we prove that the cardinality of the set ofclosed ideals in ${\mathcal L}\left (\ell _p\oplus \ell _q\right )$ is exactly $2^{{\mathfrak {c}}}$ for all $1<p<q<\infty $.

We show that the automorphism group of a linking system associated to a saturated fusion system $\mathcal {F}$ depends only on $\mathcal {F}$ as long as the object set of the linking system is $\mathrm {Aut}(\mathcal {F})$ -invariant. This was known to be true for linking systems in Oliver’s definition, but we demonstrate that the result holds also for linking systems in the considerably more general definition introduced previously by the author of this article. A similar result is proved for linking localities, which are group-like structures corresponding to linking systems. Our argument builds on a general lemma about the existence of an extension of a homomorphism between localities. This lemma is also used to reprove a theorem of Chermak showing that there is a natural bijection between the sets of partial normal subgroups of two possibly different linking localities over the same fusion system.

We give a complete classification of finite subgroups of automorphisms of K3 surfaces up to deformation. The classification is in terms of Hodge theoretic data associated to certain conjugacy classes of finite subgroups of the orthogonal group of the K3 lattice. The moduli theory of K3 surfaces, in particular the surjectivity of the period map and the strong Torelli theorem allow us to interpret this datum geometrically. Our approach is computer aided and involves Hermitian lattices over number fields.

We give an explicit characterization on the singularities of exceptional pairs in any dimension. In particular, we show that any exceptional Fano surface is $\frac {1}{42}$ -lc. As corollaries, we show that any $\mathbb R$ -complementary surface X has an n-complement for some integer $n\leq 192\cdot 84^{128\cdot 42^5}\approx 10^{10^{10.5}}$ , and Tian’s alpha invariant for any surface is $\leq 3\sqrt {2}\cdot 84^{64\cdot 42^5}\approx 10^{10^{10.2}}$ . Although the latter two values are expected to be far from being optimal, they are the first explicit upper bounds of these two algebraic invariants for surfaces.

A joint algebraic interpretation of the biorthogonal Askey polynomials on the unit circle and of the orthogonal Jacobi polynomials is offered. It ties their bispectral properties to an algebra called the meta-Jacobi algebra $m\mathfrak {J}$ .

We revisit regularity of SLE trace, for all $\unicode[STIX]{x1D705}\neq 8$, and establish Besov regularity under the usual half-space capacity parametrization. With an embedding theorem of Garsia–Rodemich–Rumsey type, we obtain finite moments (and hence almost surely) optimal variation regularity with index $\min (1+\unicode[STIX]{x1D705}/8,2)$, improving on previous works of Werness, and also (optimal) Hölder regularity à la Johansson Viklund and Lawler.

For each prime $p$ we construct a family $\{G_{i}\}$ of finite $p$-groups such that $|\text{Aut}(G_{i})|/|G_{i}|$ tends to zero as $i$ tends to infinity. This disproves a well-known conjecture that $|G|$ divides $|\text{Aut}(G)|$ for every nonabelian finite $p$-group $G$.

We establish the sharp upper bounds on the indexes for most of the twisted flag varieties under the spin groups ${\operatorname {\mathrm {Spin}}(n)}$.

Let $F$ be a totally real number field, ${\wp}$ a place of $F$ above $p$ . Let ${\it\rho}$ be a $2$ -dimensional $p$ -adic representation of $\text{Gal}(\overline{F}/F)$ which appears in the étale cohomology of quaternion Shimura curves (thus ${\it\rho}$ is associated to Hilbert eigenforms). When the restriction ${\it\rho}_{{\wp}}:={\it\rho}|_{D_{{\wp}}}$ at the decomposition group of ${\wp}$ is semistable noncrystalline, one can associate to ${\it\rho}_{{\wp}}$ the so-called Fontaine–Mazur ${\mathcal{L}}$ -invariants, which are however invisible in the classical local Langlands correspondence. In this paper, we prove one can find these ${\mathcal{L}}$ -invariants in the completed cohomology group of quaternion Shimura curves, which generalizes some of Breuil’s results [Breuil, Astérisque, 331 (2010), 65–115] in the $\text{GL}_{2}/\mathbb{Q}$ -case.

Starting from loop equations, we prove that the wave functions constructed from topological recursion on families of degree $2$ spectral curves with a global involution satisfy a system of partial differential equations, whose equations can be seen as quantizations of the original spectral curves. The families of spectral curves can be parametrized with the so-called times, defined as periods on second type cycles, and with the poles. These equations can be used to prove that the WKB solution of many isomonodromic systems coincides with the topological recursion wave function, which proves that the topological recursion wave function is annihilated by a quantum curve. This recovers many known quantum curves for genus zero spectral curves and generalizes this construction to hyperelliptic curves.

We compute the Donaldson–Thomas invariants of a local elliptic surface with section. We introduce a new computational technique which is a mixture of motivic and toric methods. This allows us to write the partition function for the invariants in terms of the topological vertex. Utilizing identities for the topological vertex proved in Bryan et al. [‘Trace identities for the topological vertex’, Selecta Math. (N.S.)24 (2) (2018), 1527–1548, arXiv:math/1603.05271], we derive product formulas for the partition functions. The connected version of the partition function is written in terms of Jacobi forms. In the special case where the elliptic surface is a K3 surface, we get a derivation of the Katz–Klemm–Vafa formula for primitive curve classes which is independent of the computation of Kawai–Yoshioka.
