We consider a class of nonhomogeneous elliptic equations in the half-space with critical singular boundary potentials and nonlinear fractional derivative terms. The forcing terms are considered on the boundary and can be taken as singular measure. Employing a functional setting and approach based on localization-in-frequency and Littlewood–Paley decomposition, we obtain results on solvability, regularity, and symmetry of solutions.

Strong unique continuation properties and a classification of the asymptotic profiles are established for the fractional powers of a Schrödinger operator with a Hardy-type potential, by means of an Almgren monotonicity formula combined with a blow-up analysis.

By using fixed point argument, we give a proof for the existence of singular rotationally symmetric steady and expanding gradient Ricci solitons in higher dimensions with metric $g=\frac {da^2}{h(a^2)}+a^2g_{S^n}$ for some function h where $g_{S^n}$ is the standard metric on the unit sphere $S^n$ in $\mathbb {R}^n$ for any $n\ge 2$. More precisely, for any $\lambda \ge 0$ and $c_0>0$, we prove that there exist infinitely many solutions ${h\in C^2((0,\infty );\mathbb {R}^+)}$ for the equation $2r^2h(r)h_{rr}(r)=(n-1)h(r)(h(r)-1)+rh_r(r)(rh_r(r)-\lambda r-(n-1))$, $h(r)>0$, in $(0,\infty )$ satisfying $\underset {\substack {r\to 0}}{\lim }\,r^{\sqrt {n}-1}h(r)=c_0$ and prove the higher-order asymptotic behavior of the global singular solutions near the origin. We also find conditions for the existence of unique global singular solution of such equation in terms of its asymptotic behavior near the origin.

Let $\Omega \subset \mathbb {R}^N$ ($N\geq 3$) be a $C^2$ bounded domain and $\Sigma \subset \partial \Omega$ be a $C^2$ compact submanifold without boundary, of dimension $k$, $0\leq k \leq N-1$. We assume that $\Sigma = \{0\}$ if $k = 0$ and $\Sigma =\partial \Omega$ if $k=N-1$. Let $d_{\Sigma }(x)=\mathrm {dist}\,(x,\Sigma )$ and $L_\mu = \Delta + \mu \,d_{\Sigma }^{-2}$, where $\mu \in {\mathbb {R}}$. We study boundary value problems ($P_\pm$) $-{L_\mu} u \pm |u|^{p-1}u = 0$ in $\Omega$ and $\mathrm {tr}_{\mu,\Sigma}(u)=\nu$ on $\partial \Omega$, where $p>1$, $\nu$ is a given measure on $\partial \Omega$ and $\mathrm {tr}_{\mu,\Sigma}(u)$ denotes the boundary trace of $u$ associated to $L_\mu$. Different critical exponents for the existence of a solution to ($P_\pm$) appear according to concentration of $\nu$. The solvability for problem ($P_+$) was proved in [3, 29] in subcritical ranges for $p$, namely for $p$ smaller than one of the critical exponents. In this paper, assuming the positivity of the first eigenvalue of $-L_\mu$, we provide conditions on $\nu$ expressed in terms of capacities for the existence of a (unique) solution to ($P_+$) in supercritical ranges for $p$, i.e. for $p$ equal or bigger than one of the critical exponents. We also establish various equivalent criteria for the existence of a solution to ($P_-$) under a smallness assumption on $\nu$.

In this work, we study an elliptic problem involving an operator of mixed order with both local and nonlocal aspects, and in either the presence or the absence of a singular nonlinearity. We investigate existence or nonexistence properties, power- and exponential-type Sobolev regularity results, and the boundary behaviour of the weak solution, in the light of the interplay between the summability of the datum and the power exponent in singular nonlinearities.

In this work, we study a quasilinear elliptic problem involving the 1-Laplacian operator, with a discontinuous, superlinear and subcritical nonlinearity involving the Heaviside function $H(\cdot - \beta )$. Our approach is based on an analysis of the associated p-Laplacian problem, followed by a thorough analysis of the asymptotic behaviour or such solutions as $p \to 1^+$. We study also the asymptotic behaviour of the solutions, as $\beta \to 0^+$ and we prove that it converges to a solution of the original problem, without the discontinuity in the nonlinearity.

In this paper, we consider the problem $-\Delta u =-u^{-\beta }\chi _{\{u>0\}} + f(u)$ in $\Omega$ with $u=0$ on $\partial \Omega$, where $0<\beta <1$ and $\Omega$ is a smooth bounded domain in $\mathbb {R}^{N}$, $N\geq 2$. We are able to solve this problem provided $f$ has subcritical growth and satisfy certain hypothesis. We also consider this problem with $f(s)=\lambda s+s^{\frac {N+2}{N-2}}$ and $N\geq 3$. In this case, we are able to obtain a solution for large values of $\lambda$. We replace the singular function $u^{-\beta }$ by a function $g_\epsilon (u)$ which pointwisely converges to $u^{-\beta }$ as $\epsilon \rightarrow 0$. The corresponding energy functional to the perturbed equation $-\Delta u + g_\epsilon (u) = f(u)$ has a critical point $u_\epsilon$ in $H_0^{1}(\Omega )$, which converges to a non-trivial non-negative solution of the original problem as $\epsilon \rightarrow 0$.

We prove the existence of nontrivial ground state solutions of the critical quasilinear Hénon equation $\displaystyle -\Delta _p u=|x|^{\alpha _1}|u|^{p^{*}(\alpha _1)-2}u-|x|^{\alpha _2}|u|^{p^{*}(\alpha _2)-2}u\ \ {\rm in}\ \mathbb {R}^{N}.$ It is a new problem in the sense that the signs of the coefficients of critical terms are opposite.

We will give a new proof of the existence of hypercylinder expander of the inverse mean curvature flow which is a radially symmetric homothetic soliton of the inverse mean curvature flow in $\mathbb {R}^{n}\times \mathbb {R}$ , $n\ge 2$ , of the form $(r,y(r))$ or $(r(y),y)$ , where $r=|x|$ , $x\in \mathbb {R}^{n}$ , is the radially symmetric coordinate and $y\in \mathbb {R}$ . More precisely, for any $\lambda>\frac {1}{n-1}$ and $\mu>0$ , we will give a new proof of the existence of a unique even solution $r(y)$ of the equation $\frac {r^{\prime \prime }(y)}{1+r^{\prime }(y)^{2}}=\frac {n-1}{r(y)}-\frac {1+r^{\prime }(y)^{2}}{\lambda (r(y)-yr^{\prime }(y))}$ in $\mathbb {R}$ which satisfies $r(0)=\mu $ , $r^{\prime }(0)=0$ and $r(y)>yr^{\prime }(y)>0$ for any $y\in \mathbb {R}$ . We will prove that $\lim _{y\to \infty }r(y)=\infty $ and $a_{1}:=\lim _{y\to \infty }r^{\prime }(y)$ exists with $0\le a_{1}<\infty $ . We will also give a new proof of the existence of a constant $y_{1}>0$ such that $r^{\prime \prime }(y_{1})=0$ , $r^{\prime \prime }(y)>0$ for any $0<y<y_{1}$ , and $r^{\prime \prime }(y)<0$ for any $y>y_{1}$ .

In this paper, we focus on a Kirchhoff-type equation with singular potential and critical exponent. By virtue of the generalized version of Lions-type theorem and the Nehari–Pohožaev manifold, we established the existence of Nehari–Pohožaev-type ground state solutions to the mentioned equation. Some recent results from the literature are generally improved and extended.

This paper is mainly concerned with the global asymptotic behaviour of the unique solution to a class of singular Dirichlet problems − Δu = b(x)g(u), u > 0, x ∈ Ω, u|∂Ω = 0, where Ω is a bounded smooth domain in ℝn, g ∈ C1(0, ∞) is positive and decreasing in (0, ∞) with $\lim _{s\rightarrow 0^+}g(s)=\infty$, b ∈ Cα(Ω) for some α ∈ (0, 1), which is positive in Ω, but may vanish or blow up on the boundary properly. Moreover, we reveal the asymptotic behaviour of such a solution when the parameters on b tend to the corresponding critical values.

Let Ω ⊂ ℝN be a bounded domain and δ(x) be the distance of a point x ∈ Ω to the boundary. We study the positive solutions of the problem Δu + (μ/(δ(x)2))u = up in Ω, where p > 0, p ≠ 1 and μ ∈ ℝ, μ ≠ 0 is smaller than the Hardy constant. The interplay between the singular potential and the nonlinearity leads to interesting structures of the solution sets. In this paper, we first give the complete picture of the radial solutions in balls. In particular, we establish for p > 1 the existence of a unique large solution behaving like δ−(2/(p−1)) at the boundary. In general domains, we extend the results of Bandle and Pozio and show that there exists a unique singular solutions u such that $u/\delta ^{\beta _-}\to c$ on the boundary for an arbitrary positive function $c \in C^{2+\gamma }(\partial \Omega ) \, (\gamma \in (0,1)), c \ges 0$. We prove the uniqueness of a solution for a problem whose simplest model is

with k ≥ 1, 0 f ∈ L∞(Ω) and Ω is a bounded domain of ℝN, N ≥ 2. So far, uniqueness results are known for k < 1, while existence holds for any k ≥ 1 and f positive in open sets compactly embedded in a neighbourhood of the boundary.
