La conjecture de Tate pour les variétés abéliennes sur les corps finis a été prouvée par Tate lui-même dans le cas d'un $H^2$, mais reste ouverte en degré supérieur. Nous démontrons ici une variante affaiblie de cette conjecture (en tout degré), qui décrit néanmoins tout cycle de Tate ‘en termes de’ cycles algébriques. Cette variante s'applique aussi aux variétés abéliennes $A$ sur un corps de type fini sur un corps fini, au moins dans le cas ‘de bonne réduction’, i.e. dans le cas où $A$ est fibre générique d'un schéma abélien sur une base projective normale sur un corps fini.

Tate's conjecture for abelian varieties over finite fields has been proven by Tate himself for $H^2$ but remains open in higher degree. We prove a weaker version of the conjecture in any degree, which describes every Tate cycle `in terms of' algebraic cycles. This variant also applies to abelian varieties $A$ over finitely generated fields of characteristic $p$, at least in the `good reduction' case, i.e. when $A$ is the generic fibre of an abelian scheme on a normal projective variety defined over a finite field.

In this article, we functorially associate definable sets to $k$-analytic curves, and definable maps to analytic morphisms between them, for a large class of $k$-analytic curves. Given a $k$-analytic curve $X$, our association allows us to have definable versions of several usual notions of Berkovich analytic geometry such as the branch emanating from a point and the residue curve at a point of type 2. We also characterize the definable subsets of the definable counterpart of $X$ and show that they satisfy a bijective relation with the radial subsets of $X$. As an application, we recover (and slightly extend) results of Temkin concerning the radiality of the set of points with a given prescribed multiplicity with respect to a morphism of $k$-analytic curves. In the case of the analytification of an algebraic curve, our construction can also be seen as an explicit version of Hrushovski and Loeser’s theorem on iso-definability of curves. However, our approach can also be applied to strictly $k$-affinoid curves and arbitrary morphisms between them, which are currently not in the scope of their setting.

I construct infinitely many nondiffeomorphic examples of $5$ -dimensional contact manifolds which are tight, admit no strong fillings and do not have Giroux torsion. I obtain obstruction results for symplectic cobordisms, for which I give a proof not relying on the polyfold abstract perturbation scheme for Symplectic Field Theory (SFT). These results are part of my PhD thesis [23], and are the first applications of higher-dimensional Siefring intersection theory for holomorphic curves and hypersurfaces, as outlined in [23, 24], as a prequel to [30].

We study normal reflection subgroups of complex reflection groups. Our approach leads to a refinement of a theorem of Orlik and Solomon to the effect that the generating function for fixed-space dimension over a reflection group is a product of linear factors involving generalised exponents. Our refinement gives a uniform proof and generalisation of a recent theorem of the second author.

We study the quasi-ergodicity of compact strong Feller semigroups $U_t$, $t> 0$, on $L^2(M,\mu )$; we assume that M is a locally compact Polish space equipped with a locally finite Borel measue $\mu $. The operators $U_t$ are ultracontractive and positivity preserving, but not necessarily self-adjoint or normal. We are mainly interested in those cases where the measure $\mu $ is infinite and the semigroup is not intrinsically ultracontractive. We relate quasi-ergodicity on $L^p(M,\mu )$ and uniqueness of the quasi-stationary measure with the finiteness of the heat content of the semigroup (for large values of t) and with the progressive uniform ground state domination property. The latter property is equivalent to a variant of quasi-ergodicity which progressively propagates in space as $t \uparrow \infty $; the propagation rate is determined by the decay of . We discuss several applications and illustrate our results with examples. This includes a complete description of quasi-ergodicity for a large class of semigroups corresponding to non-local Schrödinger operators with confining potentials.

We suggest an analog of the Bass–Quillen conjecture for smooth affinoid algebras over a complete non-archimedean field. We prove this in the rank-1 case, i.e. for the Picard group. For complete discretely valued fields and regular affinoid algebras that admit a regular model (automatic if the residue characteristic is zero) we prove a similar statement for the Grothendieck group of vector bundles $K_{0}$.

Several structural results about permutation groups of finite rank definable in differentially closed fields of characteristic zero (and other similar theories) are obtained. In particular, it is shown that every finite rank definably primitive permutation group is definably isomorphic to an algebraic permutation group living in the constants. Applications include the verification, in differentially closed fields, of the finite Morley rank permutation group conjectures of Borovik-Deloro and Borovik-Cherlin. Applying the results to binding groups for internality to the constants, it is deduced that if complete types p and q are of rank m and n, respectively, and are nonorthogonal, then the $(m+3)$rd Morley power of p is not weakly orthogonal to the $(n+3)$rd Morley power of q. An application to transcendence of generic solutions of pairs of algebraic differential equations is given.

We completely classify Cartan subalgebras of dimension drop algebras with coprime parameters. More generally, we classify Cartan subalgebras of arbitrary stabilised dimension drop algebras that are non-degenerate in the sense that the dimensions of their fibres in the endpoints are maximal. Conjugacy classes by an automorphism are parametrised by certain congruence classes of matrices over the natural numbers with prescribed row and column sums. In particular, each dimension drop algebra admits only finitely many non-degenerate Cartan subalgebras up to conjugacy. As a consequence of this parametrisation, we can provide examples of subhomogeneous $\text{C}^{\ast }$-algebras with exactly $n$ Cartan subalgebras up to conjugacy. Moreover, we show that in many dimension drop algebras two Cartan subalgebras are conjugate if and only if their spectra are homeomorphic.

We show that the theory of Galois actions of a torsion Abelian group A is companionable if and only if, for each prime p, the p-primary part of A is either finite or it coincides with the Prüfer p-group. We also provide a model-theoretic description of the model companions we obtain.

We study the limiting behavior of Maass forms on sequences of large-volume compact quotients of $\operatorname {SL}_d({\mathbb R})/\textrm {SO}(d)$, $d\ge 3$, whose spectral parameter stays in a fixed window. We prove a form of quantum ergodicity in this level aspect which extends results of Le Masson and Sahlsten to the higher rank case.

We study the complexities of isometry and isomorphism classes of separable Banach spaces in the Polish spaces of Banach spaces, recently introduced and investigated by the authors in [14]. We obtain sharp results concerning the most classical separable Banach spaces.

We prove that the infinite-dimensional separable Hilbert space is characterized as the unique separable infinite-dimensional Banach space whose isometry class is closed, and also as the unique separable infinite-dimensional Banach space whose isomorphism class is $F_\sigma $. For $p\in \left [1,2\right )\cup \left (2,\infty \right )$, we show that the isometry classes of $L_p[0,1]$ and $\ell _p$ are $G_\delta $-complete sets and $F_{\sigma \delta }$-complete sets, respectively. Then we show that the isometry class of $c_0$ is an $F_{\sigma \delta }$-complete set.

Additionally, we compute the complexities of many other natural classes of separable Banach spaces; for instance, the class of separable $\mathcal {L}_{p,\lambda +}$-spaces, for $p,\lambda \geq 1$, is shown to be a $G_\delta $-set, the class of superreflexive spaces is shown to be an $F_{\sigma \delta }$-set, and the class of spaces with local $\Pi $-basis structure is shown to be a $\boldsymbol {\Sigma }^0_6$-set. The paper is concluded with many open problems and suggestions for a future research.

Let (X, cX) be a convex projective surface equipped with a real structure. The space of stable maps carries different real structures induced by cX and any order two element τ of permutation group Sk acting on marked points. Each corresponding real part ℝτ is a real normal projective variety. As the singular locus is of codimension bigger than two, these spaces thus carry a first Stiefel–Whitney class for which we determine a representative in the case k = c1(X)d − 1 where c1(X) is the first Chern class of X. Namely, we give a homological description of these classes in term of the real part of boundary divisors of the space of stable maps.

For a prime number p and a free profinite group S on the basis X, let $S_{\left (n,p\right )}$ , $n=1,2,\dotsc ,$ be the p-Zassenhaus filtration of S. For $p>n$ , we give a word-combinatorial description of the cohomology group $H^2\left (S/S_{\left (n,p\right )},\mathbb {Z}/p\right )$ in terms of the shuffle algebra on X. We give a natural linear basis for this cohomology group, which is constructed by means of unitriangular representations arising from Lyndon words.

Nous construisons un espace adapté à l’étude de l’entropie des applications méromorphes en utilisant des limites projectives. Nous en déduisons un principe variationnel pour ces applications.

We prove that the Kodaira dimension of the n-fold universal family of lattice-polarised holomorphic symplectic varieties with dominant and generically finite period map stabilises to the moduli number when n is sufficiently large. Then we study the transition of Kodaira dimension explicitly, from negative to nonnegative, for known explicit families of polarised symplectic varieties. In particular, we determine the exact transition point in the Beauville–Donagi and Debarre–Voisin cases, where the Borcherds $\Phi _{12}$ form plays a crucial role.

We study the behaviour of representation varieties of quivers with relations under the operation of node splitting. We show how splitting a node gives a correspondence between certain closed subvarieties of representation varieties for different algebras, which preserves properties like normality or having rational singularities. Furthermore, we describe how the defining equations of such closed subvarieties change under the correspondence.

By working in the ‘relative setting’ (splitting one node at a time), we demonstrate that there are many nonhereditary algebras whose irreducible components of representation varieties are all normal with rational singularities. We also obtain explicit generators of the prime defining ideals of these irreducible components. This class contains all radical square zero algebras, but also many others, as illustrated by examples throughout the paper. We also show that this is true when irreducible components are replaced by orbit closures, for a more restrictive class of algebras. Lastly, we provide applications to decompositions of moduli spaces of semistable representations of certain algebras.

In this article, we construct examples of $L$-indistinguishable overconvergent eigenforms for an inner form of $\text{SL}_{2}$.

We determine the parity of the Langlands parameter of a conjugate self-dual supercuspidal representation of $\text{GL}(n)$ over a non-archimedean local field by means of the local Jacquet–Langlands correspondence. It gives a partial generalization of a previous result on the self-dual case by Prasad and Ramakrishnan.

We prove some $\ell $-independence results on local constancy of étale cohomology of rigid analytic varieties. As a result, we show that a closed subscheme of a proper scheme over an algebraically closed complete non-archimedean field has a small open neighbourhood in the analytic topology such that, for every prime number $\ell $ different from the residue characteristic, the closed subscheme and the open neighbourhood have the same étale cohomology with ${\mathbb Z}/\ell {\mathbb Z}$-coefficients. The existence of such an open neighbourhood for each $\ell $ was proved by Huber. A key ingredient in the proof is a uniform refinement of a theorem of Orgogozo on the compatibility of the nearby cycles over general bases with base change.

We consider compact Kählerian manifolds $X$ of even dimension 4 or more, endowed with a log-symplectic holomorphic Poisson structure $\unicode[STIX]{x1D6F1}$ which is sufficiently general, in a precise linear sense, with respect to its (normal-crossing) degeneracy divisor $D(\unicode[STIX]{x1D6F1})$. We prove that $(X,\unicode[STIX]{x1D6F1})$ has unobstructed deformations, that the tangent space to its deformation space can be identified in terms of the mixed Hodge structure on $H^{2}$ of the open symplectic manifold $X\setminus D(\unicode[STIX]{x1D6F1})$, and in fact coincides with this $H^{2}$ provided the Hodge number $h_{X}^{2,0}=0$, and finally that the degeneracy locus $D(\unicode[STIX]{x1D6F1})$ deforms locally trivially under deformations of $(X,\unicode[STIX]{x1D6F1})$.
