We formulate a theory of pointed manifolds, accommodating both embeddings and Pontryagin–Thom collapse maps, so as to present a common generalization of Poincaré duality in topology and Koszul duality in ${\mathcal{E}}_{n}$-algebra.

We extend the Kuga–Satake construction to the case of limit mixed Hodge structures of K3 type. We use this to study the geometry and Hodge theory of degenerations of Kuga–Satake abelian varieties associated with polarized variations of K3 type Hodge structures over the punctured disc.

It is proved that solutions of the complex Monge–Ampère equation on compact Kähler manifolds with right hand side in Lp, p > 1, are uniformly Hölder continuous under the assumption on non-negative orthogonal bisectional curvature.

We give an algebraic description of the structure of the analytic universal cover of a complex abelian variety which suffices to determine the structure up to isomorphism. More generally, we classify the models of theories of ‘universal covers’ of rigid divisible commutative finite Morley rank groups.

In this article, we study some Kramers–Fokker–Planck operators with a polynomial potential $V(q)$ of degree greater than two having quadratic limiting behaviour. This work provides an accurate global subelliptic estimate for Kramers–Fokker–Planck operators under some conditions imposed on the potential.

Colmez [Périodes des variétés abéliennes a multiplication complexe, Ann. of Math. (2)138(3) (1993), 625–683; available at http://www.math.jussieu.fr/∼colmez] conjectured a product formula for periods of abelian varieties over number fields with complex multiplication and proved it in some cases. His conjecture is equivalent to a formula for the Faltings height of CM abelian varieties in terms of the logarithmic derivatives at $s=0$ of certain Artin $L$-functions. In a series of articles we investigate the analog of Colmez’s theory in the arithmetic of function fields. There abelian varieties are replaced by Drinfeld modules and their higher-dimensional generalizations, so-called $A$-motives. In the present article we prove the product formula for the Carlitz module and we compute the valuations of the periods of a CM $A$-motive at all finite places in terms of Artin $L$-series. The latter is achieved by investigating the local shtukas associated with the $A$-motive.

Let $\mu $ be a probability measure on $\mathrm {GL}_d(\mathbb {R})$, and denote by $S_n:= g_n \cdots g_1$ the associated random matrix product, where $g_j$ are i.i.d. with law $\mu $. Under the assumptions that $\mu $ has a finite exponential moment and generates a proximal and strongly irreducible semigroup, we prove a Berry–Esseen bound with the optimal rate $O(1/\sqrt n)$ for the coefficients of $S_n$, settling a long-standing question considered since the fundamental work of Guivarc’h and Raugi. The local limit theorem for the coefficients is also obtained, complementing a recent partial result of Grama, Quint and Xiao.

In this paper, we formulate and present ample evidence towards the conjecture that the partition function (i.e. the exponential of the generating series of intersection numbers with monomials in psi classes) of the Pixton class on the moduli space of stable curves is the topological tau function of the noncommutative Korteweg-de Vries hierarchy, which we introduced in a previous work. The specialisation of this conjecture to the top degree part of Pixton’s class states that the partition function of the double ramification cycle is the tau function of the dispersionless limit of this hierarchy. In fact, we prove that this conjecture follows from the double ramification/Dubrovin–Zhang equivalence conjecture. We also provide several independent computational checks in support of it.

We give a formula relating the order of the Brauer group of a surface fibered over a curve over a finite field to the order of the Tate–Shafarevich group of the Jacobian of the generic fiber. The formula implies that the Brauer group of a smooth and proper surface over a finite field is a square if it is finite.

Let G be a reductive p-adic group which splits over an unramified extension of the ground field. Hiraga, Ichino and Ikeda [24] conjectured that the formal degree of a square-integrable G-representation $\pi $ can be expressed in terms of the adjoint $\gamma $ -factor of the enhanced L-parameter of $\pi $ . A similar conjecture was posed for the Plancherel densities of tempered irreducible G-representations.

We prove these conjectures for unipotent G-representations. We also derive explicit formulas for the involved adjoint $\gamma $ -factors.

We consider the unique recovery of a non-compactly supported and non-periodic perturbation of a Schrödinger operator in an unbounded cylindrical domain, also called waveguide, from boundary measurements. More precisely, we prove recovery of a general class of electric potentials from the partial Dirichlet-to-Neumann map, where the Dirichlet data is supported on slightly more than half of the boundary and the Neumann data is taken on the other half of the boundary. We apply this result in different contexts including recovery of some general class of non-compactly supported coefficients from measurements on a bounded subset and recovery of an electric potential, supported on an unbounded cylinder, of a Schrödinger operator in a slab.

Let $L/F$ be a quadratic extension of totally real number fields. For any prime $p$ unramified in $L$, we construct a $p$-adic $L$-function interpolating the central values of the twisted triple product $L$-functions attached to a $p$-nearly ordinary family of unitary cuspidal automorphic representations of $\text{Res}_{L\times F/F}(\text{GL}_{2})$. Furthermore, when $L/\mathbb{Q}$ is a real quadratic number field and $p$ is a split prime, we prove a $p$-adic Gross–Zagier formula relating the values of the $p$-adic $L$-function outside the range of interpolation to the syntomic Abel–Jacobi image of generalized Hirzebruch–Zagier cycles.

In this paper we prove that the set of translation structures for which the corresponding vertical translation flows are disjoint with its inverse contains a $G_{\unicode[STIX]{x1D6FF}}$-dense subset in every non-hyperelliptic connected component of the moduli space ${\mathcal{M}}$. This is in contrast to hyperelliptic case, where for every translation structure the associated vertical flow is reversible, i.e., it is isomorphic to its inverse by an involution. To prove the main result, we study limits of the off-diagonal 3-joinings of special representations of vertical translation flows. Moreover, we construct a locally defined continuous embedding of the moduli space into the space of measure-preserving flows to obtain the $G_{\unicode[STIX]{x1D6FF}}$-condition. Moreover, as a by-product we get that in every non-hyperelliptic connected component of the moduli space there is a dense subset of translation structures whose vertical flow is reversible.

In this article we show that the polylogarithmic currents introduced by Andrey Levin describe the polylogarithm of an abelian scheme at the topological level. From this result, which had been conjectured by Andrey Levin himself, we deduce a method to explicit the Eisenstein classes of abelian schemes at the topological level. These classes are of special interest since they have a motivic origin by a result of Guido Kings. In a forthcoming work entitled ‘Les classes d'Eisenstein des variétés de Hilbert–Blumenthal’, the results of the present article are used to prove that the Eisenstein classes of Hilbert–Blumenthal varieties degenerate at the boundary of the Baily–Borel compactification of the base in a special value of an L-function associated to the underlying totally real number field, and we get as a corollary a non-vanishing result for some of these Eisenstein classes in this geometric situation.

We show that for any commutative Noetherian regular ring $R$ containing $\mathbb{Q}$, the map $K_{1}(R)\rightarrow K_{1}\left(\frac{R[x_{1},\ldots ,x_{4}]}{(x_{1}x_{2}-x_{3}x_{4})}\right)$ is an isomorphism. This answers a question of Gubeladze. We also compute the higher $K$-theory of this monoid algebra. In particular, we show that the above isomorphism does not extend to all higher $K$-groups. We give applications to a question of Lindel on the Serre dimension of monoid algebras.

We give an algebro-geometric construction of the Hitchin connection, valid also in positive characteristic (with a few exceptions). A key ingredient is a substitute for the Narasimhan–Atiyah–Bott Kähler form that realizes the Chern class of the determinant-of-cohomology line bundle on the moduli space of bundles on a curve. As replacement we use an explicit realisation of the Atiyah class of this line bundle, based on the theory of the trace complex due to Beilinson–Schechtman and Bloch–Esnault.

We prove a new global stability estimate for the Gel’fand–Calderón inverse problem on a two-dimensional bounded domain. Specifically, the inverse boundary value problem for the equation ${- }\Delta \psi + v\hspace{0.167em} \psi = 0$ on $D$ is analysed, where $v$ is a smooth real-valued potential of conductivity type defined on a bounded planar domain $D$. The main feature of this estimate is that it shows that the smoother a potential is, the more stable its reconstruction is. Furthermore, the stability is proven to depend exponentially on the smoothness, in a sense to be made precise. The same techniques yield a similar estimate for the Calderón problem for electrical impedance tomography.

We develop a theory of $R$-module Thom spectra for a commutative symmetric ring spectrum $R$ and we analyze their multiplicative properties. As an interesting source of examples, we show that $R$-algebra Thom spectra associated to the special unitary groups can be described in terms of quotient constructions on $R$. We apply the general theory to obtain a description of the $R$-based topological Hochschild homology associated to an $R$-algebra Thom spectrum.

We prove the integral Hodge conjecture for all 3-folds $X$ of Kodaira dimension zero with $H^{0}(X,K_{X})$ not zero. This generalizes earlier results of Voisin and Grabowski. The assumption is sharp, in view of counterexamples by Benoist and Ottem. We also prove similar results on the integral Tate conjecture. For example, the integral Tate conjecture holds for abelian 3-folds in any characteristic.

Carleson's corona theorem is used to obtain two results on cyclicity of singular inner functions in weighted Bergman-type spaces on the unit disk. Our method of proof requires no regularity conditions on the weights.
