Let $K$ be an algebraically closed field of prime characteristic $p$, let $X$ be a semiabelian variety defined over a finite subfield of $K$, let $\unicode[STIX]{x1D6F7}:X\longrightarrow X$ be a regular self-map defined over $K$, let $V\subset X$ be a subvariety defined over $K$, and let $\unicode[STIX]{x1D6FC}\in X(K)$. The dynamical Mordell–Lang conjecture in characteristic $p$ predicts that the set $S=\{n\in \mathbb{N}:\unicode[STIX]{x1D6F7}^{n}(\unicode[STIX]{x1D6FC})\in V\}$ is a union of finitely many arithmetic progressions, along with finitely many $p$-sets, which are sets of the form $\{\sum _{i=1}^{m}c_{i}p^{k_{i}n_{i}}:n_{i}\in \mathbb{N}\}$ for some $m\in \mathbb{N}$, some rational numbers $c_{i}$ and some non-negative integers $k_{i}$. We prove that this conjecture is equivalent with some difficult diophantine problem in characteristic 0. In the case $X$ is an algebraic torus, we can prove the conjecture in two cases: either when $\dim (V)\leqslant 2$, or when no iterate of $\unicode[STIX]{x1D6F7}$ is a group endomorphism which induces the action of a power of the Frobenius on a positive dimensional algebraic subgroup of $X$. We end by proving that Vojta’s conjecture implies the dynamical Mordell–Lang conjecture for tori with no restriction.

We study the stability of the differential process of Rochberg and Weiss associated with an analytic family of Banach spaces obtained using the complex interpolation method for families. In the context of Köthe function spaces, we complete earlier results of Kalton (who showed that there is global bounded stability for pairs of Köthe spaces) by showing that there is global (bounded) stability for families of up to three Köthe spaces distributed in arcs on the unit circle while there is no (bounded) stability for families of four or more Köthe spaces. In the context of arbitrary pairs of Banach spaces, we present some local stability results and some global isometric stability results.

We present a general framework for automatic continuity results for groups of isometries of metric spaces. In particular, we prove automatic continuity property for the groups of isometries of the Urysohn space and the Urysohn sphere, i.e. that any homomorphism from either of these groups into a separable group is continuous. This answers a question of Ben Yaacov, Berenstein and Melleray. As a consequence, we get that the group of isometries of the Urysohn space has unique Polish group topology and the group of isometries of the Urysohn sphere has unique separable group topology. Moreover, as an application of our framework we obtain new proofs of the automatic continuity property for the group $\text{Aut}([0,1],\unicode[STIX]{x1D706})$, due to Ben Yaacov, Berenstein and Melleray and for the unitary group of the infinite-dimensional separable Hilbert space, due to Tsankov.

We prove that étale morphisms of schemes yield separable extensions of derived categories. We then generalize the Neeman–Thomason localization theorem to separable extensions of triangulated categories.

This paper deals with the stabilization of the contribution of elliptic elements to the geometric side of the general twisted trace formula. We extend the results of Langlands, Kottwitz and Shelstad to all elliptic elements for the general twisted trace formula.

In this paper, we define and study strong right-invariant sub-Riemannian structures on the group of diffeomorphisms of a manifold with bounded geometry. We derive the Hamiltonian geodesic equations for such structures, and we provide examples of normal and of abnormal geodesics in that infinite-dimensional context. The momentum formulation gives a sub-Riemannian version of the Euler–Arnol’d equation. Finally, we establish some approximate and exact reachability properties for diffeomorphisms, and we give some consequences for Moser theorems.

We study fiber functors on Tannakian categories which are equipped with a grading or a filtration. Our goal is to give a comprehensive set of foundational results about such functors. A main result is that each filtration on a fiber functor can be split by a grading fpqc-locally on the base scheme.

Using a connected sum construction, we prove the existence of complete non-compact embedded constant-mean-curvature-1 surfaces in hyperbolic 3-space with finitely many ends and non-trivial topology. These surfaces are obtained by desingularizing finitely many mutually tangent horospheres.

Soit A une variété abélienne définie sur un corps de nombres K, le nombre de points de torsion définis sur une extension finie L est borné polynomialement en terme du degré [L : K]. Lorsque A est isogène à un produit de variétés abéliennes simples de type GSp, c'est-à-dire dont le groupe de Mumford–Tate est « générique » (isomorphe au groupe des similitudes symplectiques) et vérifiant la conjecture de Mumford–Tate, nous calculons l'exposant optimal dans cette borne, en terme de la dimension des sous-variétés abéliennes de A. Le résultat est inconditionnel pour un produit de variétés abéliennes simples dont l'anneau d'endomorphismes est ℤ et la dimension n'appartient pas à un ensemble exceptionnel explicite S = {4, 10, 16, 32, …}. Par ailleurs nous prouvons, suivant une stratégie de Serre, que si la conjecture de Mumford–Tate est vraie pour des variétés abéliennes de type GSp, alors la conjecture de Mumford–Tate est vraie pour un produit de telles variétés abéliennes.

The purpose of this paper is to provide a large class of initial data which generates global smooth solution of the 3D inhomogeneous incompressible Navier–Stokes system in the whole space $\mathbb{R}^{3}$. This class of data is based on functions which vary slowly in one direction. The idea is that 2D inhomogeneous Navier–Stokes system with large data is globally well-posed and we construct the 3D approximate solutions by the 2D solutions with a parameter. One of the key point of this study is the investigation of the time decay properties of the solutions to the 2D inhomogeneous Navier–Stokes system. We obtained the same optimal decay estimates as the solutions of 2D homogeneous Navier–Stokes system.

Given a separable Banach space E, we construct an extremely non-complex Banach space (i.e. a space satisfying that ‖ Id + T2 ‖ = 1 + ‖ T2 ‖ for every bounded linear operator T on it) whose dual contains E* as an L-summand. We also study surjective isometries on extremely non-complex Banach spaces and construct an example of a real Banach space whose group of surjective isometries reduces to ±Id, but the group of surjective isometries of its dual contains the group of isometries of a separable infinite-dimensional Hilbert space as a subgroup.

On calcule les restrictions aux points fixes de deux bases de la cohomologie équivariante des tours de Bott, et on précise la structure multiplicative de ces algèbres de cohomologie. En s’aidant du travail de Duan, on en déduit une méthode de calcul des constantes de structure de la cohomologie équivariante des variétés de drapeaux (calcul de Schubert équivariant).

‘Equivariant cohomology of Bott towers and equivariant Schubert calculus’. We calculate the restrictions to fixed points of two bases of the equivariant cohomology of Bott towers, and we describe the multiplicative structure of these cohomology algebras. We build on the work of Duan to give a method to calculate the structure constants of the equivariant cohomology of the flag varieties (equivariant Schubert calculus).

We examine 2-complexes $X$ with the property that for any compact connected $Y$, and immersion $Y\rightarrow X$, either $\unicode[STIX]{x1D712}(Y)\leqslant 0$ or $\unicode[STIX]{x1D70B}_{1}Y=1$. The mapping torus of an endomorphism of a free group has this property. Every irreducible 3-manifold with boundary has a spine with this property. We show that the fundamental group of any 2-complex with this property is locally indicable. We outline evidence supporting the conjecture that this property implies coherence. We connect the property to asphericity. Finally, we prove coherence for 2-complexes with a stricter form of this property. As a corollary, every one-relator group with torsion is coherent.

Linear differential algebraic groups (LDAGs) measure differential algebraic dependencies among solutions of linear differential and difference equations with parameters, for which LDAGs are Galois groups. Differential representation theory is a key to developing algorithms computing these groups. In the rational representation theory of algebraic groups, one starts with and tori to develop the rest of the theory. In this paper, we give an explicit description of differential representations of tori and differential extensions of irreducible representation of . In these extensions, the two irreducible representations can be non-isomorphic. This is in contrast to differential representations of tori, which turn out to be direct sums of isotypic representations.

We use coefficient systems on the affine Bruhat–Tits building to study admissible representations of reductive p-adic groups in characteristic not equal to p. We show that the character function is locally constant and provide explicit neighbourhoods of constancy. We estimate the growth of the subspaces of invariants for compact open subgroups.

We consider valued fields with a value-preserving automorphism and improve on model-theoretic results by Bélair, Macintyre and Scanlon on these objects by dropping assumptions on the residue difference field. In the equicharacteristic 0 case we describe the induced structure on the value group and the residue difference field.

We study the slice filtration for the K-theory of a sheaf of Azumaya algebras A, and for the motive of a Severi-Brauer variety, the latter in the case of a central simple algebra of prime degree over a field. Using the Beilinson–Lichtenbaum conjecture, we apply our results to show the vanishing of SK2(A) for a central simple algebra A of square-free index (prime to the characteristic). This proves a conjecture of Merkurjev.

We deal with the incompressible Navier–Stokes equations with vortex patches as initial data. Such data describe an initial configuration for which the vorticity is discontinuous across a hypersurface. We give an asymptotic expansion of the solutions in the vanishing viscosity limit which exhibits an internal layer where the fluid vorticity has a sharp variation. This layer moves with the flow of the Euler equations.
