The Brazilian's Ministries of Defence and Justice took the initiative to create the project Agate 5, through which performance of the Brazilian Air Force - FAB, aims to curb the entry and movement of drugs in Brazil for the control and surveillance of the airspace boundaries. The Agate 5, aiming to look beyond the work of repression of drug trafficking, also preventing drug use, invited three professionals in addiction linked to ABRAD, Brazilian Association of Alcoholism and Drug Administration to work in this operation, in cities southern Brazil. This study reports the experience of these professionals in addiction Project Agate 5.

Promote guidelines on prevention and treatment of chemical dependency, family treatment and health education for youth and children.

Lectures and dynamic guidance on issues related to addiction and health promotion.

The orientation on the prevention of drug use was presented by the ABRAD's group along with the official Brazilian Air Force - FAB, for educators and managers of the cities visited. Issues were addressed health promotion with children at a school visited by the group, in Porto Alegre, as well as guidance to adolescents participating in a social project in Foz do Iguaçu.

The proposed objectives were achieved, and there is the possibility of teaching a course on chemical dependency counselors provided by ABRAD cities visited for training professionals to be area.

Brain-dead patients are considered as the most important supply source for patients in need of organ donation, and the decision making regarding donation primarily takes place by the families.

The phenomenology study was conducted via interviews with no predetermined and deep questions (unstructured). The data were analyzed through a phenomenological - descriptive analysis method according to Colaizzi's 9 step process.

Seven male and six female subjects participated in the study. The findings were categorized into the three concepts of ‘fear and worry’, ‘unknowns’, and ‘growth and sublimation’. One of the main agents of decision making in ‘unknowns’ subcategory was lack of awareness. In the ‘fear and worry’ subcategory, subjects suffered fear and worry from the looks of the body of the deceased subsequent to donation, and some believed that the body should be intact when being buried. Comments of distant relatives and bystanders were another source of worry in the families as to the possibility of the braindead patient's recovery. As for ‘growth and sublimation’, spirituality and the feeling of spiritual recompense and reward in return for helping others, among many, was the main factor.

The disparate experiences of families necessitate proper support in critical situations.They require assistance to become aware of unknowns of their minds and better understanding of organ donation process, and to reduce the influence of undesirable interfering thoughts and factors in the way of accepting this calamity and, as a result, the donation decision be made with more confidence and assurance.

Suicidal rating Russia is one of the highest in the world. Only few publications are devoted to psychopathological characteristics of suicide subjects in emergency hospital.

Clinical characteristics of emergency hospital patients with suicide attempts were studied.

Interview together with specially elaborated formalized card were used. Patients were diagnosed up to ICD-10 criteria. 970 patients (320 male, 650 female; mean age - 40±16) hospitalized to I.I. Dzhanelidze Institute of Emergency Medical Care (St. Petersburg) in 2011 due to the suicide attempt were investigated.

The majority of patients were diagnosed as anxiety disorders (35,5%) and substance use disorders (SUD) (30,8%). Affective disorders (F30-F39) were diagnosed in 90 (9,3%), and schizophrenia in 4,1% cases. Self-poisoning was found the absolutely preponderant (87,1%) suicide mode. Chemical substances were used in 3,7%, psychoactive drugs in 2,1%, other medical products in 81,3%. Blood alcohol level higher than 1 ‰ was found in 45,2% patients. Suicidal patients have demonstrated low psychosocial level. Fulltime employment and permanent income was only in 20,8%. The first hospital care was carried out by resuscitators, surgeons, toxicologists, etc. After their recommendations patients were consulted by psychiatrist or psychotherapist.

70,2% were discharged, in 13,6% out-patient psychiatrist supervision was recommended, 10,4% were transferred to psychiatric hospital, 5,8% died.

The majority of suicidal patients in emergency hospital have anxiety disorders or SUD and used self-poisoning mode. Alcohol as a provoking factor was found in nearly half of subjects.

• - To evaluate social function and overall improvement of paliperidone ER treatment in Thai schizophrenia patient.

• - To collect the safety data of Paliperidone ER.

Patients were at least 18 years old and had been diagnosed with schizophrenia according to DSM-IV criteria. Patients were unsatisfied with previous treatment and had been previously or currently on oral atypical antipsychotics. Eligible patients were initiated on a dose of paliperidone ER (3, 6, 9, 12 mg/day) based on tolerability of previous medication. Flexible maintenance dosing during the 10 week study duration was allowed for all participants based on individual tolerability. The primary outcome is social function, determined by Personal and Social Performance Scale (PSP). Patients were also rated for overall severity of illness using Clinical and Global Impressions-Severity (CGI-S) scale.

In total, 40 patients were enrolled. The statistical significant improvements from baseline in PSP total score were observed at all time points. An improvement of greater than or equal to 1 category (classified as a10-point interval) on PSP scale is considered as clinical relevant response. Improvement in CGI-S were observed at endpoint (p< 0.001). The mean reduction ± SD at endpoint was for 0.8 ± 1.04 (95% CI 0.48-1.16). The most commonly reported adverse events (3 5% of patients) were daytime drowsiness (15%) and headache (15%). Three subjects (7.5%) discontinued due to adverse events.

This study suggests that paliperidone ER is well tolerated in schizophrenic patient. Paliperidone ER showed improvement in schizophrenic symptom control and social functioning.

To investigate clinical dynamics of acute and transient psychotic disorders during antipsychotic therapy.

35 primary inpatients of psychiatric hospital with acute and transient psychotic disorders (ICD-10, F 23) were observed for 6 months. Group 1 - 17 participants (26,7±7,1 years) with acute psychosis without schizophrenic symptoms (F 23.0). Group 2 - 18 inpatients (26,0±5,7 years) with acute psychosis including schizophrenic symptoms (F 23.1). All patients received haloperidol injections with subsequent switch to olanzapine or risperidone per os. Psychopathological dynamics was estimated on PANSS [Kay S.R. et al., 1987].

For the first group, the initial total PANSS score was lower (88,1±10,8) than for group 2 (123,3±7,7; p≤0,01). Duration of psychoses didn’t exceed 30 days in the first group. Longer psychotic episodes were typical to the 2nd group: ratio of the episodes lasting 6-30 days an 31-60 days was 50 to 50%. Negative symptoms, such as autism, passivity were revealed in all patients of group 2. The psychotic recurrence within 6 months after the first psychotic episode reduction occurred in 16%. Negative symptoms level estimated on PANSS in these patients was higher (26,7±4,2) than in whole group (23,7±5,6) [p≥0,05].

The disorders diagnosed as F 23.0 and F 23.1 (ICD-10) differed in several patterns. Group 2 was characterized by stronger severity of psychotic symptoms; group 2 patients showed resistance to antipsychotic therapy. Moreover, the tendency to psychosis relapse was noticeable in cases with more strongly expressed negative symptoms after the first psychotic episode.

In many countries suicide is one of the leading causes of death among children and adolescents. Identifying young people at risk and offering effective treatment is a major concern of mental health policies.

To look for the presence of suicidal thinking, plans and attempts in adolescents.

Measure the presence of suicidal tendencies having in mind possible correlation with psychological difficulties (measured by SDQ), level of depression, hopelessness and self-esteem of adolescents in one school sample.

The sample of adolescents at school have been offered to fill out CESD, Hopelessness scale for children, Rosenberg self-esteem scale, SDQ questionnaire and four item adopted questions about suicidal tendencies. All data has been analyzed by SPSS 14.0.

In the sample of 768 adolescents (12-20yr, mean Age=17, 52) 22, 1% of them declared suicidal thinking, 3, 9% planed and 2, 2% attempted. About third of them didn’t find any reason for these tendencies. Females showed more suicidal tendencies but significantly only for thinking. Tobacco, alcohol and marihuana users have significantly more suicidality. Youths who declared more test anxiety have significantly more suicidal thinking. Significantly association is found between suicidal tendencies and psychological difficulties (emotional, conduct, hyperactivity and peers problems). Depression and high hopelessness also have significances. Suicidality is significantly higher in youths with normal self-esteem.

Suicidality is much presented in our sample and showed significantly association with substance use, psychological difficulties, hopelessness, depression and normal self-esteem.

The objective of this study is to examine an association between apathy and caregiver burden in amnestic mild cognitive impairment.

This was a retrospective cross sectional study. We selected 92 consecutive patients diagnosed with Amnestic Mild Cognitive Impairment who had a comprehensive battery of neuropsychological tests and a behaviour rating scale of interest for this study recorded in the database. Correlation analysis was done to look into association between apathy and caregiver burden.

Apathy score was significantly related to caregiver burden in amnestic mild cognitive impairment.

Our study has shown high association of apathy with caregiver burden in aMCI.

Estimate the prevalence of PTSD & its squeal among the whole country.

A national- wide survey with a sample size of 4500 had been done from Aug.2006 to March 2007. An International diagnostic instrument (CIDI) had been used to household persons & 4332 completed the questionnaire.

Prevalence of PTSD for life time was 3.59% & prevalence for 12 months was 1.63%. Elderly people were more prone to PTSD. The prevalence was much less than other countries with similar conflict situations.

PTSD might be not the only squeal of the major traumas. People in different parts of the world might show different responses to traumatic events.

To gain knowledge about the practice in the District Mental Health Service according to medication trends.

To gain knowledge and information about the daily practice.

This pilot study was done in 2011. Focusgroup interviews where the informants was leaders and professional workers in two different municipalities in Nortern Norway in 2011. Literature rewievs was also done. Next step is quantitative methods based on the results in the pilot study.

The results show that the District Mental Health Service practice differed in organization of the service. The one who has the responsibility of medication for the patients in daily settings differed. The most educated persons in the mental health team took care of the treatment only in communication with the psychotic persons, while the lowest educated personal in the home care settings administrated to give patients medicine. Some of the workers in the home care settings had only a 10 hours medical course. They were afraid of the patients who could be aggressive and denied to take medication.

The organization of the medication responsibility need to be focused more upon because of the need of good observation of the effects on the patients.

Child Sexual Abuse (CSA) is one widely cited risk factor for sexually intrusive behavior (SIB) among boys.

To identify risk factors for SIB among CSA male victims, the current study involved a prospective examination of all investigations of male CSA victims and those of children suspected of committing SIB's on other children in Israel over a ten-year period.

National data files of male victims and those of male suspects investigations, aged 14 or under were electronically merged, allowing the identification of alleged victims who later appeared as suspects of SIB. A comparison group consisted of alleged male victims who were investigated during the first year of the study period (1998) and had no recorded suspicions of SIB by the end of December 2007, allowing a follow up of up to 10 years.

157 (2%) of the alleged victims appeared later in the records as child suspects of SIB. Comparing victims with and without SIB revealed differences on personal and family factors as well as on the experience of abuse. A regression model controlling for age and family predictors correctly classified over three-quarters of the subjects based on reported experiences of abuse.

The data help predict which of the victims are likely to involve in SIB. The predictive model has implications for the identification of high-risk sexual abuse victims and for the prevention of SIB by children.

Internet addiction (IA) is increasingly becoming a mental health problem in some countries, and its importance has been reflected in the proposal to include it on the upcoming DSM-5. Although IA was described more than 15 years ago, controversy still emerges regarding its existence and classification. Recent studies have shown response to pharmacologic agents in individuals suffering from IA, suggesting a biological substrate. In the last years, studies have shown neurobiological variables to be associated with IA.

Perform a literature review in search of studies that associate IA with neurobiological variables.

Summarize current knowledge about the neurobiological basis of IA.

We conducted a literature review of empirical research articles from PUBMED, EBSCO and Web of Science, using the keywords Internet addiction, genetics, MRI, EEG, event-related potentials, neurobiology. Articles published from January 2007 to May 2012 were selected on the basis of relevant information contained in the title and/or abstract.

We found 26 studies that associated IA with different neurobiological findings. Studies variables and results are summarized in a table format.

Recent studies suggest a neurobiological component for IA. Anatomical and functional changes, genetic polymorphisms and impairment of neurotransmitter systems have been found in brains of individuals with IA. The reviewed studies did not evaluate causality. Understanding the neurobiological underpinnings of IA could help dilucidate subjects at risk of having this entity, determine severity of disease, or lead to development of therapeutic alternatives.
