Kudla has proposed a general program to relate arithmetic intersection multiplicities of special cycles on Shimura varieties to Fourier coefficients of Eisenstein series. The lowest dimensional case, in which one intersects two codimension one cycles on the integral model of a Shimura curve, has been completed by Kudla, Rapoport and Yang. In the present paper we prove results in a higher dimensional setting. On the integral model of a Shimura surface we consider the intersection of a Shimura curve with a codimension two cycle of complex multiplication points, and relate the intersection to certain cycle classes constructed by Kudla, Rapoport and Yang. As a corollary we deduce that our intersection multiplicities appear as Fourier coefficients of a Hilbert modular form of half-integral weight.

We study the relative Donaldson–Thomas theory of 𝒜n×P1, where 𝒜n is the surface resolution of type An singularity. The action of divisor operators in the theory is expressed in terms of operators of the affine algebra on Fock space. Assuming a nondegeneracy conjecture, this gives a complete solution for the theory. The results complete the comparison of this theory with the Gromov–Witten theory of 𝒜n×P1 and the quantum cohomology of the Hilbert scheme of points on 𝒜n.

We investigate cluster-tilting objects (and subcategories) in triangulated 2-Calabi–Yau and related categories. In particular, we construct a new class of such categories related to preprojective algebras of non-Dynkin quivers associated with elements in the Coxeter group. This class of 2-Calabi–Yau categories contains, as special cases, the cluster categories and the stable categories of preprojective algebras of Dynkin graphs. For these 2-Calabi–Yau categories, we construct cluster-tilting objects associated with each reduced expression. The associated quiver is described in terms of the reduced expression. Motivated by the theory of cluster algebras, we formulate the notions of (weak) cluster structure and substructure, and give several illustrations of these concepts. We discuss connections with cluster algebras and subcluster algebras related to unipotent groups, in both the Dynkin and non-Dynkin cases.

Let G be a connected, simply connected, simple complex algebraic group and let ϵ be a primitive ℓth root of one, ℓ odd and 3∤ℓ if G is of type G2. We determine all Hopf algebra quotients of the quantized coordinate algebra 𝒪ϵ(G).

We describe the supercuspidal representations of Sp4(F), for F a non-archimedean local field of residual characteristic different from two, and determine which are generic.

According to our previous results, the conjugacy class of the involution induced by the complex conjugation in the homology of a real non-singular cubic fourfold determines the fourfold up to projective equivalence and deformation. Here, we show how to eliminate the projective equivalence and obtain a pure deformation classification, that is, how to respond to the chirality problem: which cubics are not deformation equivalent to their image under a mirror reflection. We provide an arithmetical criterion of chirality, in terms of the eigen-sublattices of the complex conjugation involution in homology, and show how this criterion can be effectively applied taking as examples M-cubics (that is, those for which the real locus has the richest topology) and (M−1)-cubics (the next case with respect to complexity of the real locus). It happens that there is one chiral class of M-cubics and three chiral classes of (M−1)-cubics, in contrast to two achiral classes of M-cubics and three achiral classes of (M−1)-cubics.

We situate the noncrossing partitions associated with a finite Coxeter group within the context of the representation theory of quivers. We describe Reading’s bijection between noncrossing partitions and clusters in this context, and show that it extends to the extended Dynkin case. Our setup also yields a new proof that the noncrossing partitions associated with a finite Coxeter group form a lattice. We also prove some new results within the theory of quiver representations. We show that the finitely generated, exact abelian, and extension-closed subcategories of the representations of a quiver Q without oriented cycles are in natural bijection with the cluster tilting objects in the associated cluster category. We also show that these subcategories are exactly the finitely generated categories that can be obtained as the semistable objects with respect to some stability condition.

We introduce the τ-function of a difference rational connection (d-connection) and its isomonodromy transformations. We show that in a continuous limit ourτ-function agrees with the Jimbo–Miwa–Ueno τ-function. We compute the τ-function for the isomonodromy transformations leading to difference Painlevé V and difference Painlevé VI equations. We prove that the gap probability for a wide class of discrete random matrix type models can be viewed as the τ-function for an associated d-connection.

We show that there is an hierarchy of intersection rigidity properties of sets in a closed symplectic manifold: some sets cannot be displaced by symplectomorphisms from more sets than the others. We also find new examples of rigidity of intersections involving, in particular, specific fibers of moment maps of Hamiltonian torus actions, monotone Lagrangian submanifolds (following the works of P. Albers and P. Biran-O. Cornea) as well as certain, possibly singular, sets defined in terms of Poisson-commutative subalgebras of smooth functions. In addition, we get some geometric obstructions to semi-simplicity of the quantum homology of symplectic manifolds. The proofs are based on the Floer-theoretical machinery of partial symplectic quasi-states.

We compute the spherical functions on the symmetric space Sp2n/Spn×Spn and derive a Plancherel formula for functions on the symmetric space. As an application of the Plancherel formula, we prove an identity which amounts to the fundamental lemma of a relative trace identity between Sp2n and .

We study linear functions on fibrations whose central fibre is a linear free divisor. We analyse the Gauß–Manin system associated to these functions, and prove the existence of a primitive and homogenous form. As a consequence, we show that the base space of the semi-universal unfolding of such a function carries a Frobenius manifold structure.

Given a compact p-adic Lie group G over a finite unramified extension L/ℚp let GL/ℚp be the product over all Galois conjugates of G. We construct an exact and faithful functor from admissible G-Banach space representations to admissible locally L-analytic GL/ℚp-representations that coincides with passage to analytic vectors in the case L=ℚp. On the other hand, we study the functor ‘passage to analytic vectors’ and its derived functors over general basefields. As an application we compute the higher analytic vectors in certain locally analytic induced representations.

This paper gives the classification of the Whittaker unitary dual for affine graded Hecke algebras of type E. By the Iwahori–Matsumoto involution, this is also equivalent to the classification of the spherical unitary dual for type E. Together with some results of Barbasch and Moy (D. Barbasch and A. Moy, Unitary spherical spectrum for p-adic classical groups, Acta Appl. Math. 44 (1996), 3–37; D. Barbasch, The spherical unitary spectrum of split classical real and p-adic groups, Preprint (2006), math/0609828) and Ciubotaru (D. Ciubotaru, The Iwahori spherical unitary dual of the split group of type F4, Represent. Theory 9 (2005), 94–137), this work completes the classification of the Whittaker Iwahori-spherical unitary dual or, equivalently, the spherical unitary dual of any split p-adic group.

We give conditions which imply that a complete noncompact manifold with quadratic curvature decay has finite topological type. In particular, we find links between the topology of a manifold with quadratic curvature decay and some properties of the asymptotic cones of such a manifold.
