The number of primitive lattice points in the dilate $t{\mathcal{A}}$ is asymptotically $\frac{6}{\unicode[STIX]{x1D70B}^{2}}\text{Area}(t{\mathcal{A}})$ as $t\rightarrow \infty$. We show that the error term is both $\unicode[STIX]{x1D6FA}_{\pm }(t\sqrt{\log \log t})$ and $O(t(\log t)^{2/3}(\log \log t)^{4/3})$. Both bounds extend (to the above class of polygons) known results for the isosceles right triangle, which appear in the literature as bounds for the error term in the summatory function for Euler’s $\unicode[STIX]{x1D719}(n)$.

This note concerns elements (called trivectors) of the third Grassmann product of a complex vector space U. Usually there are many ways to write a given trivector as the sum of simple or decomposable trivectors, and it is an interesting problem to find those representations which contain the smallest possible number of decomposables. This number we shall call the length of the trivector. Let N(n) denote the length of the longest trivector in ∧3U where U has dimension n. In this note we give upper bounds for N(n) when n ≤ 8.

In this paper, we consider the behavior of the commutators of convolution operators on the Triebel–Lizorkin spaces ${{\dot{F}}_{p}}^{s,q}$.

The homotopy groups of a finite partially ordered set (poset) can be described entirely in the context of posets, as shown in a paper by $\text{B}$. Larose and $\text{C}$. Tardif. In this paper we describe the relative version of such a homotopy theory, for pairs $\left( X,\,A \right)$ where $X$ is a poset and $A$ is a subposet of $X$. We also prove some theorems on the relevant version of the notion of weak homotopy equivalences for maps of pairs of such objects. We work in the category of reflexive binary relational structures which contains the posets as in the work of Larose and Tardif.

The purpose of this paper is to consider a representation for the elements of a linear topological space in the form of a σ-integral over a linearly ordered subset of V; this ordered subset is what will be called an L basis. The formal definition of an L basis is essentially an abstraction from ideas used, often tacitly, in proofs of many of the theorems concerning integral representations for continuous linear functionals on function spaces.

The L basis constructed in this paper differs in several basic ways from the integral basis considered by Edwards in [5]. Since the integrals used here are of Hellinger type rather than Radon type one has in the approximating sums for the integral an immediate and natural analogue to the partial sum operators of summation basis theory.

As applications we obtain: (i) For any positive integer k there exists a connected bipartite graph $G$ such that $\text{reg}\,R/I\left( G \right)\,=\,{{\mu }_{s}}\left( G \right)\,+\,k$, where, $I\left( G \right)$ denotes the edge ideal of $G$, $\text{reg}\,\text{R/I}\left( G \right)$ is the Castelnuovo–Mumford regularity of $\text{R/I}\left( G \right)$ and ${{\mu }_{s}}\left( G \right)$ is the induced or strong matching number of $G$; (ii)The graded Betti numbers of the complement of a tree depends only upon its number of vertices; (iii)The $h$-vector of $R/I\left( G\circledast H \right)$ is described in terms of the $h$-vectors of $\text{R/I}\left( G \right)$ and $R/I\left( H \right)$. Furthermore, in a different direction, we give a recursive formula for the graded Betti numbers of chordal bipartite graphs.

In this paper, we prove a noncommutative (nc) analog of Schwarz lemma for the nc Schur–Agler class and prove that the regular nc Schur–Agler class and the regular free Herglotz–Agler class are homeomorphic. Moreover, we give a characterization of regular free Herglotz–Agler functions. As an application, we will show that any regular free Herglotz–Agler functions can uniformly be approximated by regular Herglotz–Agler free polynomials.

In this paper, we will show that the unitary equivalence of two multiplication operators on the Bergman spaces on polygons depends on the geometry of the polygon.

Set-theoretic solutions to the Yang–Baxter equation can be classified by their universal coverings and their fundamental groupoids. Extending previous results, universal coverings of irreducible involutive solutions are classified in the degenerate case. These solutions are described in terms of a group with a distinguished self-map. The classification in the nondegenerate case is simplified and compared with the description in the degenerate case.

We prove the existence of compact spacelike hypersurfaces with prescribed k-curvature in de Sitter space, where the prescription function depends on both space and the tilt function.

Let F be a field of characteristic zero, and let $UT_2$ be the algebra of $2 \times 2$ upper triangular matrices over F. In a previous paper by Centrone and Yasumura, the authors give a description of the action of Taft’s algebras $H_m$ on $UT_2$ and its $H_m$ -identities. In this paper, we give a complete description of the space of multilinear $H_m$ -identities in the language of Young diagrams through the representation theory of the hyperoctahedral group. We finally prove that the variety of $H_m$ -module algebras generated by $UT_2$ has the Specht property, i.e., every $T^{H_m}$ -ideal containing the $H_m$ -identities of $UT_2$ is finitely based.

Let A be a semisimple, unital, and complex Banach algebra. It is well known and easy to prove that A is commutative if and only $e^xe^y=e^{x+y}$ for all $x,y\in A$ . Elaborating on the spectral theory of commutativity developed by Aupetit, Zemánek, and Zemánek and Pták, we derive, in this paper, commutativity results via a spectral comparison of $e^xe^y$ and $e^{x+y}$ .

We consider the sequence of powers of a positive definite function on a discrete group. Taking inspiration from random walks on compact quantum groups, we give several examples of situations where a cut-off phenomenon occurs for this sequence, including free groups and infinite Coxeter groups. We also give examples of absence of cut-off using free groups again.
