Matsumoto proved in, [Prime end rotation numbers of invariant separating continua of annular homeomorphisms, Proc. Amer. Math. Soc. 140(3) (2012), 839–845.] that the prime end rotation numbers associated to an invariant annular continuum are contained in its rotation set. An alternative proof of this fact using only simple planar topology is presented.

We investigate the Galois structures of $p$-adic cohomology groups of general $p$-adic representations over finite extensions of number fields. We show, in particular, that as the field extensions vary over natural families the Galois modules formed by these cohomology groups always decompose as the direct sum of a projective module and a complementary module of bounded $p$-rank. We use this result to derive new (upper and lower) bounds on the changes in ranks of Selmer groups over extensions of number fields and descriptions of the explicit Galois structures of natural arithmetic modules.

We define Bernstein–Sato polynomials for meromorphic functions and study their basic properties. In particular, we prove a Kashiwara–Malgrange-type theorem on their geometric monodromies, which would also be useful in relation with the monodromy conjecture. A new feature in the meromorphic setting is that we have several b-functions whose roots yield the same set of the eigenvalues of the Milnor monodromies. We also introduce multiplier ideal sheaves for meromorphic functions and show that their jumping numbers are related to our b-functions.

The well-known Thullen-Remmert-Stein’s theorem ([9], [7]) asserts that, for a domain D in CN and an n-dimensional irreducible analytic set S in D, a purely n-dimensional analytic set A in D — S has an essential singularity at any point in 5 if A has at least one essential singularity in S. In [1], E. Bishop generalized this to the case that A has the boundary of capacity zero in his sense. Afterwards, in [8], W. Rothstein obtained more precise informations on the essential singularities of A under the assumption dim A = 1. The main purpose in this paper is to generalize these Rothstein’s results to the case of arbitrary dimensional analytic sets.

Throughout this paper, let p be an odd prime. Let k be a -adic number field and be the ring of all integers in k. Let K/k be a finite totally ramified Galois p-extension of degree pn with the Galois group G. Clearly the ring of all integers in K is an [G]-module. In the previous paper [4], we studied [G]-module structure of in a cyclic totally ramified p-extension, and we have obtained the condition for to be an indecomposable [G]-module.

Let w = w(z) be any K-quasiconformai mapping (in the sense of Pfluger-Ahlfors) of a domain D in the z-plane into the w-plane. Since w = w(z) is a measurable mapping (vid. I. Introduction. The purpose of this paper is to discuss functions defined on the continuous sample paths of Gaussian Markov processes which serve as Green’s functions for pairs of generalized Schroedinger equations. The results extend the author’s earlier paper [2] to a forward time version, and consider different boundary conditions.

In a Bourbaki seminary note, La Théorie des Fonctions Thêta, A. Weil has discussed two fundamental theorems of the general theory of Theta functions. The first, due to H. Poincaré, was proved very skilfully in the note by means of harmonic integrals on a torus and the second, due to Frobenius, was treated by the systematic use of the notion of analytic structure.

The relationship between interpolation and separation properties of hypersurfaces in Bargmann–Fock spaces over $\mathbb{C}^{n}$ is not well understood except for $n=1$. We present four examples of smooth affine algebraic hypersurfaces that are not uniformly flat, and show that exactly two of them are interpolating.

In this paper we prove the fundamental exact sequence in (co)homology for non-normal subgroups announced in our previous note [8]: Let H be a subgroup of a group G. If M is a G-module and if, for a natural number n, Hm(U, M) = 0 for m = 1, …, n - 1 and for every subgroup U of H which is an intersection of conjugates of H in G, then we have an exact sequence

The lower central series of the absolute Galois group of a field is obtained by iterating the process of forming the maximal central extension of the maximal nilpotent extension of a given class, starting with the maximal abelian extension. The purpose of this paper is to give a cohomological description of this central series in case of an algebraic number field. This description is based on a result of Tate which states that the Schur multiplier of the absolute Galois group of a number field is trivial. We are in a profinite situation throughout which requires some functorial background especially for treating the dual of the Schur multiplier of a profinite group. In a future paper we plan to apply our results to construct a nilpotent reciprocity map.

The purpose of this paper is to determine left-invariant vector fields on a Lie group G with a left-invariant Riemannian metric which induces C- flows on G.

Let $\Lambda $ be a finite-dimensional algebra. A wide subcategory of $\mathsf {mod}\Lambda $ is called left finite if the smallest torsion class containing it is functorially finite. In this article, we prove that the wide subcategories of $\mathsf {mod}\Lambda $ arising from $\tau $-tilting reduction are precisely the Serre subcategories of left-finite wide subcategories. As a consequence, we show that the class of such subcategories is closed under further $\tau $-tilting reduction. This leads to a natural way to extend the definition of the “$\tau $-cluster morphism category” of $\Lambda $ to arbitrary finite-dimensional algebras. This category was recently constructed by Buan–Marsh in the $\tau $-tilting finite case and by Igusa–Todorov in the hereditary case.
