These generalizations of Hardy's Integral Inequality are generalizations of some inequalities of B. G. Pachpatte.

Recently the class of almost-N-continuous functions between topological spaces has been defined. This paper continues the study of such functions, especially from the point of view of changing the topology on the codomain.

For a module M Over an Artin algebra R, we discuss the question of whether the Yoneda extension algebra Ext(M, M) is finitely generated as an algebra. We give an answer for bounded modules M. (These are modules whose syzygies have direct summands of bounded lengths.)

We show that a commutative amenable Banach algebra need not be symmetric by constructing suitable examples.

It was shown by Edgar and Rosenblatt that f ∈ Lp (ℝn), 1 ≤ p < 2n/ (n-1), and f ≠0, then f has linearly independent translates. Using a result of Hömander, it is shown here that the same theorem holds if p = 2n / (n−1). This gives a sharp result because for n ≥2, there exists f ∈C0 (ℝn), f ≠0, which is simultaneously in all Lp (ℝn), p > 2n/(n−1), that has a linear dependence relation among its translates. Roth's Theorem says that given ρ < 2 and an algebraic number α, all but finitely many rational numbers x/y satisfy |α - (x/y)|< |y|-ρ. We give upper bounds for the number of these exceptional rationals when 3 ≤ ρ ≤ d, where d is the degree of α. Our result suplements bounds given by Bombieri and Van der Poorten when 2 > ρ ≤ 3; naturally the bounds become smaller as ρ increases.

We shall give necessary and sufficient conditions on the ring R and the group G for the group-ring RG to be a prime P. I. ring with the unique factorisation property as defined in [5].

Maximal estimates are considered for solutions to an initial value problem for the Schrödinger equation. The initial value function is assumed to be radial in ℝn, n≥2.

A group G has all of its subgroups normal-by-finite if H / coreG(H) is finite for all subgroups H of G. These groups can be quite complicated in general, as is seen from the so-called Tarski groups. However, the locally finite groups of this type are shown to be abelian-by-finite; and they are then boundedly core-finite, that is to say, there is a bound depending on G only for the indices | H: coreG(H)|.

We show that for a Henstock-Kurzweil integrable function f for every ∈ > 0 one can choose an upper semicontinuous gage function δ, used in the definition of the HK-integral if and only if |f| is bounded by a Baire 1 function. This answers a question raised by C. E. Weil.

In 1960, Trevor Evans gave a best possible embedding of a partial latin square of order n in a latin square of order t, for any t ≥ 2n. A latin square of order n is equivalent to a 3-cycle system of Kn, n, n, the complete tripartite graph. Here we consider a small embedding of partial 3k-cycle systems of Kn, n, n of a certain type which generalizes Evans' Theorem, and discuss how this relates to the embedding of patterned holes, another recent generalization of Evans' Theorem.

We investigate the asymptotics and zero distribution of solutions of ω″ + Aω = 0 where A is an entire function of very slow growth. The results parallel the classical case when A is assumed to be a polynomial.

We introduce a natural notion of full coactions of a locally compact group on a Hilbert C*-module, and associate each full coaction in a natural way to an ordinary coaction. We also introduce a natural notion of strong Morita equivalence of full coactions which is sufficient to ensure strong Morita equivalence of the corresponding crossed product C*-algebras.

In this paper, we give a sufficient condition (Theorem) in order that one domain D1 bounded by a C2-smooth boundary can be enclosed in, or enclose, another domain D0 bounded by the same kind of boundary. A same kind of sufficient condition for convex bodies (Corollary) is also obtained.

Let X be a finite-dimensional separable metric space, presented as a disjoint union of subsets, X = A∪B. We prove the following theorem: For every prime p, c-dimZpX≦c-dimZpA + c–dimZpB + 1. This improves upon some of the earlier work by Dydak and Walsh.

The aim of this paper is to consider Problem 1 posed by Stewart and Wiegold in [6]. The main result is that if G is a finitely generated perfect group having non-trivial finite images, then there exists a finite image B of G such that the growth sequence of B is eventuallly faster than that of every finite image of G. Moreover we investigate the growth sequences of simple groups of the same order.
