Online interventions can be a complement to maintain the long-term effectiveness of psychosocial interventions in First Episode Psychosis (FEP) that have already demonstrated their efficacy in the short and medium term (Calvo et al., 2015).

To test the effectiveness of a mobile app–based intervention (Thinkapp) to improve quality of life, functioning and symptomatology, and reduce days of admission and hospitalizations, in young people with FEP.

Fourteen patients with FEP, aged 14–30, recruited from Gregorio Marañón Hospital, Ramón y Cajal Hospital and AMAFE Foundation in Madrid (Spain) received treatment as usual plus a psychoeducational intervention through a mobile app. Changes in dependent variables over the course of the intervention were assessed by means of a battery of clinical tests at baseline, 3-month and 6-month follow-up using a Wilcoxon test.

Of the fourteen patients included, 7 patients completed the 6-month follow-up and 8 completed the 3-month follow-up. There were significant differences in days of admission (p = 0.042) between baseline and 6-month follow-up. No significant results were observed in other clinical variables.

The study provides preliminary data potentially related to the reduction of days of admissions.

We will present experience developing a system for monitoring training placements in psychiatry and community paediatrics, and how this was expanded to provide an automated anonymised MSF for trainers for annual appraisal and will identify trainers in need of additional support and other post/training programme issues. The session will be of interest to educators and medical education leads with practical tips and lessons learnt over the last 8 years since the system was first developed.

The system was also used to identify trainers in need of additional support and other post/training programme issues.

We used an electronic system to gain the infromation as stated in the introduction.

Over the last 8 years we have collected data using this system. the results for our trust will be displayed annoymously but the system is the ficus of this presenation.

The advantages of the system are that it runs throughout the year (so covers each post and placement), has high trainee response rates, has no selection bias (compared with some other MSF systems) and the results are embedded within local quality systems and individual consultant appraisals. The data that the system collects can help provide robust evidence when investigating concerns that might only arise periodically (for example through the annual GMC trainee survey in the UK). We believe that this system will be applicable for doctors providing training in other countries and empowers the improvement of psychiatric training for the profession.

Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) is a medical treatment for those patients with high suicide risk or refractory psychiatric disorders. It is currently a safe technique, and its effectiveness has been widely demonstrated.

Presentation of a clinical case about a patient with drug-resistant delusional disorder and high suicide risk, who eventually received ECT treatment.

We present a 45-year-old man, who visited different doctors several times by reporting he had the feeling of “having a brain tumor or a vascular disorder”, so he requested imaging tests (computed tomography and magnetic resonance). These tests were absolutely normal, but he kept thinking something was wrong, and eventually attempted suicide by hanging (his family founded him before it was too late). The patient was admitted to hospital, and started psychopharmacological treatment, with minimal response. He desperately insisted that he had “something inside his head”. At this point, it was proposed to start ECT, and the patient accepted. After 6 bilateral ECT sessions, he was visibly more relaxed and less worried, and he no longer presented autolytic ideation. He was still a little bit suspicious about the feeling of having a neurological disease. Currently, the patient runs a follow-up consultation.

Electroconvulsive therapy is a safe and effective technique for those patients with high suicide risk. It may be useful to perform imaging tests in certain cases, for detecting intracranial pressure, acute hemorrhage, tumors… A follow-up of these patients must be performed

In accordance with the systematics of modern international clinical guidelines (DSM-V, ICD-11), catatonia is qualified as a transnosological formation, which boundaries expandes by including non-psychotic movement disorders (hysterical, affective, negative, etc.). This study presents the psychopathological systematics of movement disorders, based on a new dimensional model of catatonia.

60 patients with an established diagnosis of schizophrenia or SSD (F20, F21, F25.01, F25.11, F25.21, F25.22), catatonic disorders in the structure of which persist throughout the course of the disease or determine the clinical picture of phases.

Three catatonic syndromes (S.) have been identified. 1. S. of stereotypical catatonia - presented by the mechanism of affiliation with negative symptoms (R between BFCRS Total Score (TS) and Avolition-Apathy SANS – 0,875): tendency to stereotypical activity; general, increasing slowness (SANS avolition-apathy -2,9±0,5; BFCRS TS – 11,1±0,2). 2. S. of parakinetic catatonia - includes paroxysms formes by the mechanism of mental automatism (with the loss of motor acts voluntary effect ) (R BFCRS TS/Persecutory Delusions SAPS– 0,764): irregular polymorphic movement disorders of hyperkinetic and akinetic types, impulsive actions, akinesias (Persecutory Delusions - 2,3±0,4; BFCRS – 19,5±2,3). 3. Affective - catatonic S. - including both the lightest (at the level of recurrent depression) variants of affective-catatonic phases (R BFCRS TS/HADS – 0,732; BFCRS – 5,1±0,4; HADS -15,1±2,4), and more severe affective-catatonic states based on schizoaffective psychoses (R BFCRS TS/SAPS TS– 0,783; BFCRS – 15,3±2,1; SAPS – 3,1±0,2).

Catatonia is not a single dimension, represented by heterogeneous movement disorders, differing both in the mechanism of formation and in the psychopathological structure.

Involuntary admissions are increasing in numbers across Europe.1 They can be traumatic for the patients2 and are associated with large societal costs.3 Individuals with psychotic disorder are at particularly elevated risk of involuntary admission.

This study aims to investigate whether machine learning methods including natural language processing can predict involuntary admission among patients with psychotic disorder.

We have obtained a dataset based on electronic health records for all patients having had at least one contact with the psychiatric services in the Central Denmark Region from 2011 to 2021. This dataset covers more than 120,000 patients, of which approximately 10,000 have been diagnosed with a psychotic disorder. The dataset contains both structured data, such as diagnoses, blood tests etc., as well as unstructured data (text). We will train machine learning models, basic logistic regression-models as well as state-of-the-art neural networks, to predict involuntary admission after contacts to the psychiatric services.

As the machine learning models are under development, no results are available at this time. Preliminary results are expected in spring 2022.

The emotional, behavioral and psychosocial effects of chaotic environments following wars and armed conflicts in terms of exposure to trauma and displacement is well recognized. School-age children who are directly exposed to or witnessed negative effects of armed conflicts show an array of emotional and behavioral problems.

Our study aimed to examine the mental health conditions of children living in war and conflict zones and attending primary schools in Agdam.

The study sample comprised of 617 children (mean age 8.9, SD 1.24; 50.7% female), residing in the conflict areas in the southwestern of Azerbaijan. The children were evaluated with the previously validated Azerbaijani version of the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ) Teacher Form.

About a third of children (32.7%) had abnormal total scores, and a fifth (21.4%) were in borderline range. The SDQ subscale scores included emotional problems (19.4%); conduct problems (20.3%), hyperactivity/inattention (12.2%), peer relationship problems (31.1%), and pro-social behavior difficulties (13.1%). As a result, externalizing problem scores were higher in males (p<.001) and internalizing problems in females (p<.05). Due to correlation analysis, age is negatively and significantly related with externalising (p<.05), internalising (p<.01), and total difficulty (p<.05) scores.

The findings of the study show that more than half of the children living in the war zone in Azerbaijan suffer from mental health problems and highlight the need for child mental health services and family supports in the region.

Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a chronic and impairing condition included in the DSM-5 Obsessive-Compulsive Spectrum Disorders. Despite psychopharmacological and psychotherapeutic measures, there are patients who remain refractory to different therapeutic strategies.

The authors aim to present different alternatives in approach, treatment and management of refractory OCD, based on a review of the existing literature.

Analysis of the data about this subject, considering the review articles and the case reports published at current time and highlighting the most essential topics, concerning the latest developments in the area.

Therapeutic options are presented, including transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS), repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS), deep brain stimulation (DBS) and ablative neurosurgery.

The treatment of OCD represents a great challenge in clinical practice. Despite the advances accomplished by a more extensive knowledge of the disease and a burden of new techniques in the last decades, more treatment strategies are needed, especially for patients with non-response to conventional treatment.

N-Methyl-D-Aspartate Receptor (NMDAR) hypofunction is hypothesised to underlie psychosis but this has not been tested early in illness.

Our aim was to determine if NMDAR availability was lower in patients with first episode psychosis compared to healthy controls.

To address this, we studied 40 volunteers (21 patients with first episode psychosis and 19 matched healthy controls) using PET imaging with an NMDAR selective ligand, [18F]GE179, that binds to the ketamine binding site to index its distribution volume ratio (DVR) and volume of distribution (VT). Striatal glutamatergic indices (glutamate and Glx) were measured simultaneously using magnetic resonance spectroscopy imaging (1H-MRS).

Hippocampal DVR, but not VT, was significantly lower in patients relative to controls (p=0.02, Cohen’s d=0.81; p=0.15, Cohen’s d=0.49), and negatively associated with total (rho=-0.47, p= 0.04), depressive (rho=-0.67, p=0.002), and general symptom severity (rho=-0.74, p<0.001). Exploratory analyses found no significant differences in other brain regions (anterior cingulate cortex, thalamus, striatum and temporal cortex). We found an inverse relationship between hippocampal NMDAR availability and striatal glutamate levels in people with first-episode psychosis (rho = -0.74, p <0.001) but not in healthy controls (rho = -0.22, p = 0.44).

These findings are consistent with the NMDAR hypofunction hypothesis and identify the hippocampus as a key locus for relative NMDAR hypofunction, although further studies should test specificity and causality.

The Covid-19 pandemic has had a deleterious impact on populations across the world. Yet it remains unclear how this pandemic is affecting the psychological health of people with a previous history of mental illness.

This study aims to investigate the impact of Covid-19 on patients with established mental disorders.

The PubMed and science direct databases were systematically searched using the keywords combination “Covid-19” and “psychiatric disorders”, “the pandemic” and “mental disorders “, from inception up to November 2021. We adopted a broad inclusion criterion for the study requiring patients to have a pre-existing mental disorder, excluding narrative reviews and preclinical studies. In addition, a search of google scholar was conducted to identify any additional relevant publications.

We have found 26 studies but only 19 met our inclusion criteria. Included studies were published between 2020 and 2021. 2 major results were identified. Symptoms deterioration was reported in individuals with severe mental disorders and those with schizophrenia in particular, such as depressive or anxiety symptoms, substance use and suicidal ideation, due to the psychological stress and physical distancing measures associated with the Covid-19 outbreak. The symptomatic treatments used in Covid-19 had frequent interactions with the most used antipsychotic drugs leading to a substantial increase in relapse rates in people with mental disorders.

The Covid-19 pandemic has a serious impact on individuals with pre-existing mental illness reinforcing symptom severity and psychological stress. Additional studies are needed to strengthen current findings with pre-pandemic records.

Psychological interventions including group analysis (Leichsenring et al., 2015, Beutel et al., 2008) are effective with patients having somatoform disorders.

To reveal differences in dynamics of pathological bodily sensations, quality of life, illness representation in patients with somatoform disorders undergoing group analysis and psychoeducation program.

100 patients with somatoform disorders (undifferentiated somatoform disorder – 42, somatization disorder – 10, somatoform autonomic disfunction – 36, persistent somatoform pain disorder and other SD – 12) were randomly assigned randomized to psychoeducation intervention and to the group analysis psychotherapy. Before and after treatment they filled Screening for somatoforms symptoms (Rief, Hiller, 2003), Illness Perception Questionnaire - Revised (Moss-Morris et al., 2002), Cognitions About Body And Health Questionnaire (Rief et al., 1998), Scale for the Assessment of Illness Behaviour (Rief et al., 2003), Quality of Life Enjoyment and Satisfaction Questionnairie-18 (Ritsner et al., 2005).

In both conditions decrease in complaints was the most in patients with undifferentiated somatoform disorder and the least in somatoform autonomic disfunction (F=6.19, p<.01, η²=.17). In patients with somatization disorder there was the most increase in quality of life in leisure time, beliefs about intolerance to bodily sensations, rechecking the diagnosis (F=3.32-4.87, p<.05, η²=.10-.14). Decrease in beliefs about bodily weakness, illness consequences was the most prominent in patients with somatization disorder undergoing group therapy (F=2.90-4.46, p<.05, η²=.09-.13).

Refugees are at elevated risk of developing common mental disorders (CMD) as they may have been exposed to stressors and traumatic experiences before, during and after their movement. However, prevalence rates of CMDs among refugees reported across studies vary strongly.

To examine the prevalence of CMDs (PTSD, anxiety, depression and somatic disorder) among Syrian refugees in the Netherlands, and the diagnostic accuracy of self-reporting questionnaires in Arabic.

A sample of N=1339 adult Syrian refugees was randomly selected from the Dutch national population registry. Participants were approached in December 2020-March 2021 to complete questionnaires on symptoms of PTSD (PCL-5), anxiety/depression (HSCL-25), and somatic disorder (SSS-8). After the survey, a sub-sample was invited for a clinical interview using the Structured Clinical Interview for DSM-5 (SCID-5) to enquire about the presence or absence of PTSD, anxiety, depression or somatic disorder.

In total, 407 participants (53.6% female, M age=34.2yrs, SD=14.1) completed the survey. The majority (65.9%) arrived in the Netherlands in 2015-2017. Using a cut-off of PCL-5 ³33, 75 participants (18.4%) reported probable PTSD. Using a cut-off of ³1.83 on the HSCL-25 depression subscale and ³1.75 on the anxiety subscale, 153 participants (37.6%) reported depression and 135 (33.2%) reported anxiety, and using a cut-off of ³12.0 on the SSS-8, 121 (29.8%) reported somatic complaints. A sub-sample of 214 participants (52.6%) were followed-up with the SCID-5. Psychometric properties will be presented.

Syrian refugees in the Netherlands are at high risk for the development of a CMD. Implications, strengths and limitations of the study will be discussed.

Gender is a factor influencing characteristics of substance use disorders. The Covid-19 pandemic has had a great impact in all areas of society, meaning a context of exceptionality in this population. Usually the male population represents a greater number of patients in general samples, so the descriptive characteristics of a global sample may not be representative in the case of women.

- Identify if there are changes in the main substance of psychoactive substance use during the Covid-19 pandemic. - Identify possible divergences in characteristics of the general sample with respect to the sample made up of women.

It will be used data collected in the database of patients in follow-up with the addiction consultation service in two periods of 6 months, one prior to the pandemic situation due to Covid-19 and another corresponding to same period in 2020. A descriptive analysis is carried out by applying chi-square statistic, performing the analysis by subgroups according to gender.

84.8% of total sample are men. Results show that there are no statistically significant differences between periods in main substance of consumption. Despite this, differential trends can be observed in the sample that correspond to women with respect to the global sample and that of men.

Taking into account the low number of women that make up the sample, the fact that differential trends are observed could indicate possible differences, which in case of increasing the sample size could acquire statistical significance and that this it would be specific to women subgroup.

Migrations are a source of stress for patients, which can have repercussions on their Mental Health. We present the case of a native Senegalese patient who presented a first psychotic episode.

We present the case of a patient of 20 years, a native of Senegal, who has been living in Spain for 3 months in a shelter home. He has no family or relations in Spain, and only speaks Wolof, presenting serious difficulties in communication with healthcare workers. He came to Hospital with his social worker because strange behaviors had been observed. He presented delusional ideation of self-referential and mystical-religious content, related to “the prophet” and “the need to fulfill a mission”. He also presented auditory hallucinations that he identified as of divine origin, and ordered him to perform behaviors such as picking hairs from the ground and various rituals. He acknowledges cannabis and alcohol use in the previous days. Paliperidone treatment was started. Throughout the admission, he begins to show concern for the state of his relatives in Senegal and the need to send them money.

Multiple studies indicate that migrants are at higher risk of psychosis, specially those from countries where the majority of population was black, according to some series. The challenge lies in understanding the mechanisms underlying this increased incidence, taking into account psychosocial factors such as social isolation and trauma.

The feeling of becoming an adult plays the role of central new mental formation reflecting the specificities of emotional experience and whole new mental state during adolescent development that is often misaligned with present day society attitude to adolescents. The study was conducted to explore the relationship linking cognitive peculiarities of senior adolescents and the sense of emerging adulthood

This research was conceptualized to explore the way cognitive development peculiarities affect the progress in solving tasks of the transition to adulthood from the point of view of objective growing-up and subjective assessment of feeling of becoming an adult.

The study was based on Betensky’s Adolescent Window Triptych, Akimova’s Intelligence Test for Seniors, Landgarten’s Personality Collage, Sacks-Levy’s IST, Adolescent Social Self-Portrait Essay (D.B. Elkonin) and included 68 participants aged 15-17 years.

Self-criticism degree in cognition of elder adolescents has an effect on the progress in solving specific tasks of the transition to adulthood (such as high degree of maturity in intellectual activity (rs=.50; р=.002) and cognitive autonomy (rs=.36; р=.032), understanding importance of personal professional development (rs=.40; p=.059) and high value of having a family (rs=.39, p=.02). Also correlation regression analysis provides support for high correlation between self-esteem of personal autonomy, intellect (in solving tasks for conceptual thinking), emotional autonomy and social/moral maturity variables.

It was confirmed that cognitive peculiarities of elder adolescents (such as academic intelligence, maturity in intellectual activity and cognitive autonomy) have an effect on the progress in solving specific tasks of the transition to adulthood.

Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental condition characterized by symptoms of inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity, which only rarely remits in adulthood[1]. A positive association between ADHD and obesity has been repeatedly observed, especially in adult samples[2]. However, only a few studies investigated the prevalence and correlates of ADHD in obese patients seeking bariatric treatment[3,4].

Our study was aimed to examine the prevalence of probable ADHD comorbidity in a sample of obese patients referred for bariatric surgery. Secondly, we sought to characterize differences in eating behaviour between obese subjects with and without probable ADHD.

The study sample was composed of 110 adult obese patients (BMI ≥ 30 kg/m2) consecutively referred for bariatric surgery to the Obesity Center of the Endocrinology Unit in Pisa University Hospital between November 2010 and May 2012. Probable ADHD was identified using a recently developed screening scale based on items selected from Symptom Check‐List‐90‐R (SCL-90-R)[5]. The extent of binge-eating/purging and night-eating behaviours were respectively estimated using the Bulimic Investigatory Test, Edinburgh (BITE)[6] and the Night-eating Questionnaire (NEQ)[7]. Wilcoxon test was used for statistical comparisons, with a significance level of p<0.05 set for all tests.

Probable ADHD was found in 14 subjects (12.7%, 95%CI=7.1-20.4%). Patients with probable ADHD showed significantly higher BITE symptom score (20.4±9.3 vs. 12.1±7.5, r=0.31, p=0.001) and NEQ total score (16.1±9.2 vs. 9.5±3.9, r=0.27, p=0.005).

ADHD is a relatively common comorbidity in obese patients seeking bariatric treatment, which is positively associated with disordered eating habits, such as binge-eating/purging and night-eating behaviours.

Access to adequate healthcare is the best means we have for detecting and preventing complications during pregnancy and childbirth. Identifying and preventing factors that can interfere with this access become essential (Gulliford et al., 2002). Mother dual pathology during pregnancy is a condition with severe consequences (Cosp & Ontano, 2009). However there is scarce literature regarding barriers to obstetric care among women at risk for dual pathology.

The main objective was to explore healthcare access barriers among pregnant women at risk for dual pathology.

Framed in a broader research (The WOMAP project) 2014 adult pregnant women less than 26 weeks of pregnancy were screened in five hospitals in Madrid (Spain) between 2016-2019. If the screening test (AC-Ok scale) identified the presence of dual pathology during the last month, women were included in the clinical trial and assessed with a more extensive battery (compound by PHQ-9; GAD-7; PCL-5; AUDIT; DAST; and Fagerström Test) and a semi-structured interview.

163 women at risk for dual pathology were assessed. Of them, 152 (93,2%) referred to having attended all scheduled appointments. Socioeconomic level (0.184, p=0.024), depression (-0.174, p=0.034), post-traumatic stress symptoms (-0.214, p=0.011) and alcohol reporting (-0.259, p=0.045) were significantly correlated with attendance level.

Women with more severe symptoms of dual pathology are at higher risk for misatending obstetrical appointments. Social criticism, even subtle or unintentional, related to dual pathology during pregnancy could be restraining these women to attend properly. Thus, care providers should pay attention to women’s mental health and alcohol abuse to prevent miss-attention.

Stress-related disorders are common and associated withsuffering and a large sociatal burden. While treatment appears to be able to reduce symptoms, evidence of interventions to improve work outcomes is inconsistent. Lack of integration different service domains has been suspected to be a barrier in return-to-work (RTW) processes.

We aimed to test the effectiveness of intergrating vocational rehabilitation and mental health care.

We randomized participants on sick leave to I) service as usual (SAU), I) improved mental health care (MHC) or III) integrated interventions (INT). Primary outcome was RTW-rates measured at 12 months. Secondary outcome were proportion in work at 12 months, RTW-rates measured at 6 months, and symptom levels at 6 months.

We randomized 666 participants. Regarding primary outcome, the SAU group was superior to both MHC and INT. Furthermore, SAU was also superior to INT and MHC on almost all other work-related outcomes. INT and MHC did not show differences on any work-related outcome. On several symptom scales, MHC was observed with lower scores than SAU, whilst INT did not differ from the two other groups.

Both the integrated intervention (INT) and the (non-integrated) mental health care (MHC) intervention lowered return-to-work rates compared with service as usual (SAU), and thereby yielded worse outcomes. However, the MHC group intervention showed a tendency towards having lower symptom levels compared with those in the SAU group; accordingly, the SAU group is not unequivocally superior. INT and MHC showed no general differences.

Following the mentalization of interpersonal relations can be improved through reading for which the influence of literary fiction can also serve as a model. Schizophrenia is characterized by extensive deficits in mentalization, and the amelioration of these impairments is a major focus in psychosocial treatment research. Reading literature can be a potential tool in improving mentalizing skills.

We aimed to examine and compare healthy participants with patients living with schizophrenia, focusing on measuring mentalizing skills and the impact of reading literary fiction on their mentalization skills.

47 persons with schizophrenia in remission and 48 healthy controls were assessed and compared with Short Story Task (SST) a new measurement of ToM. SST proved to be a sensitive tool, to individual differences. After reading the short story “The End of Something” (Hemingway) a structured interview was done with 14 questions.

We found that patients with schizophrenia performed significantly worse in their ToM scores compared to healthy controls (ANOVA test, p<0,05 ). Previous reading experiences correlated significantly with mentalizing scores not just in healthy controls (Independent Samples T-test, p<0,05) but also in patients with schizophrenia. ToM scores were twice as high among those who had prior reading experiences in the schizophrenia group ((MS= 3,91, SD=3,166, M=8,08, SD=4,542; p<0,05, t=-3,509).

We found that mentalization skills could be improved by regular reading. Our results could also be influenced by several other factors such as empathy skills, identification with the characters etc. Our results and conclusions are in line with the results of international research on this topic.

Schizophrenia is a chronic neuropsychiatric disorder which affects over 20 million people worldwide. Atypical antipsychotics are the first-line choice for the treatment of schizophrenia due to improved tolerability and diminished risk of extrapyramidal symptoms. Lurasidone is an atypical antipsychotic approved in Spain for the treatment of schizophrenia in September 2019. An RWD-based picture of lurasidone use is necessary to better understand its impact in routine clinical practice.

To set up a methodology based on Natural Language Processing (NLP) and machine learning for the analysis of the free-text information contained in the EHRs of patients treated with lurasidone in Spain.

A multicenter, retrospective study based on RWD collected in EHRs of lurasidone users will be conducted in hospitals from the Spanish National Healthcare System. Information extracted from the free text in EHRs using NLP will be treated and analyzed as big data.

A study database for lurasidone-treated patients in Spain has been instituted using the EHRead® technology (Figure 1), which applies machine learning and deep learning to extract, analyze, and interpret the free-text information written in their de-identified EHRs. Sociodemographic and clinical variables in EHRs from September 2019 until the most recent data available are being collected to describe the target patient population and address treatment-related outcomes.

NLP of free text in EHRs of lurasidone-treated patients renders a real-world picture of lurasidone usage in Spain. Studies using artificial intelligence techniques represent a novel source of information regarding psychiatric disorders and their clinical management.

Dysfunctional breathing is a pattern of respiratory movements that do not correspond to the physiological needs of the body and can lead to a series of respiratory, cardiovascular, digestive, sensory and neurological symptoms ( Vidotto et al., 2019). The causes of dysfunctional breathing are a combination of biological, psychological and social factors.

To examine the relationship between anxiety and occurrence of dysfunctional breathing in the Russian population under the conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic.

We used a socio-demographic questionnaire, the Naimigen questionnaire (Van Dixhorn, Duivenvoordent, 1985), the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (Spielberger et al., 1983). The study was conducted online from April 27 to December 28, 2020. It was attended by 1,362 people from all regions of Russia, including 1,153 women and 209 men aged 15 to 88 years (38.3 ±11.4)

It was revealed that with a low level of state anxiety (< 35 points), dysfunctional breathing was detected in 4.8% of respondents; while with a borderline level of anxiety (> 60 points) there were at 55.9%. A similar dependence was found for personal anxiety: at a low level (< 35 points), dysfunctional breathing was detected in only 4% of respondents;while at a borderline level of anxiety (> 60 points) at 62.8%.

Dysfunctional breathing can occur among people with high and borderline levels of situational and personal anxiety during the COVID-19 pandemic. Results allows us to conclude that dysfunctional breathing and anxiety are not equivalent concepts, although they have a common phenomenological field.
