Alcohol use disorder is a chronic relapsing disorder. It is a matter of global health concern affecting different countries, cultures, economic classes and ethnic groups. Although, many people benefit from alcohol related treatment, low occurrence of treatment seeking is a common denominator for the majority of people suffering from alcohol use disorder.

The aim of the present study was to study barriers of treatment seeking and assess self and perceived stigma in alcohol dependent male patients in rural population of India

An observational study was conducted at a private de-addiction center in India. Male patients who were more than 18 years old, alcohol dependent with more than seven days of admission (not currently in withdrawal) were included in the study

The mean age of the sample was 29.1 (7.8) years and age of onset of alcohol use was 18.5 (3.3) years. The mean quantity of alcohol used per day was around 550 millilitres of IMFL per day. The mean number of previous abstinent attempt were two. The most common barrier to treatment was financial (poor affordability). Not serious enough to change and being afraid of what others might think (stigma) were other common barriers. The mean value of perceived stigma was 21.9 (2.3). No co-relation was observed between stigma (both perceived and self stigma) and age of onset and quantity of alcohol consumed

These barriers and stigma needs to be addressed to improve treatment seeking and reduce relapse in our population

The psychopathological observation of the behavioral and psychological symptoms in dementia (bpsd) and a study of the environment in which they arise, especially during a framework of mild cognitive impairment, must make us reflect on the consumption of resources for families and health or social services. The bpsd contribute 30% to the overall costs of dementia. In particular bpsd accelerate the institutionalization, temporary and definitive, of suffering elderly.

On the basis of some experiences, it is possible to use the health budget tool as part of the project budget, in the field of bpsd, moving from the practice of consumed cost to generated cost, that is the investment of resources that produces social value. The goal is to describe some concrete examples of this application, highlighting strenghts and weakness.

The psychosocial interventions recommended to prevent the risk of onset of bpsd from a public health perspective are analyzed, in Italy and in other countries, in the light of the evolution of welfare theories and practices in community psychiatry.

The methodology of the health budget, in public health system, calls family members and users to a commitment of co-responsibility and administrators of financial resources in terms of accountability. The psychogeriatric elderly with mild cognitive impairment and bpsd, can also be a resource and not just a cost, if we consider the possible performance (dividend of longevity) and not the consumption of economic resources.

A reconceptualization of the bpsd is necessary, which integrates the bio-medical dimension with psychosocial approach within the new welfare systems that must be rethought in function of the increase of the elderly population and respect to demographic trends. The onset of mild cognitive impairment and the reversibility of this pre-clinical occurrence should stimulate early recourse to appropriate psychosocial interventions to counter the social marginalization of many citizens.

The COVID-19 pandemic has changed social, family, and interpersonal relationships and behaviors. Several studies have identified the increase in psychiatric disorders in the general population (Fountoulakis et al. Psychiatry Res 2022; 315 114702) and an increase in episodes of disease in people already affected by these diseases (Taquet et al. Lancet Psychiatry 2022; 9 815-827; Zhu et al. Adults Psychiatry Res 2021; 301 113959). These episodes were accentuated by the severe limitations that occurred during the greatest peaks of the pandemic. However, few studies have evaluated the effects of these restriction periods on the levels of hetero or self-directed aggression in patients staying in residential facilities.

To evaluate the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on aggression and psychomotor agitation crises in patients hospitalized in a psychiatric rehabilitation centre.Evaluate the differences in these behaviors in the different stages of external limitation in patients suffering from psychiatric disorders.

This observational study was conducted in a residential psychiatric rehabilitation facility since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in Italy (March 2020 through September 2020). 354 patients were enrolled in the study. All guests had psychiatric disorders defined according to DSM-5 diagnostic criteria. Table 1 shows age mean and diagnosis at admission.

The several periods were recorded in the number of cases of psychomotor agitation and heterodirect aggression and an increase in emergency pharmacological interventions.

The following rating scales were administered in all patients: BPRS-18, BPRS Agitation (item item 6 tension + 10 hostility+ 17 excitement), GAF, and Epitrack.

The collected data were collected and statistically analyzed with the EZAanalyze 3.0 software in the Microsoft Excel Office.

In tables 1 and 2 and in Graphics 1 and 2 the results obtained from our study are shown. We observed a reduction in the number of agitation and aggression episodes in periods 1, 3 and 6 (4, 12 and 5, respectively). In these same periods, the BPRS agit subscore score was also lower than in the other periods (7.92, 8.08, 7.42, respectively).

Differently to expected data, the number of episodes of psychomotor agitation and heterodirect aggression proved to be reduced in the periods of greater restraint and limitation. Instead, the levels increased in the month following the reduction of such restrictions characterized by visits with family members, planned outings. it is difficult to give a reliable and definitive explanation to these results. However, the feeling of protection, risk reduction and potentially dangerous stimuli could guide the explanation of the results obtained.

Adolescence is a development stage that stands out by normative challenges that comprise the creation of representations about the self and the others, the definition of a sense of identity, and adaptation of emotional regulatory strategies and behaviors in social contexts, particularly within the group of peers. However, these developmental tasks can raise psychological difficulties that may facilitate the emergence of psychopathology in adolescents.

Analyze the role of self-disgust in the relationship between early memories of warmth and safeness with peers and borderline personality features in adolescents.

Sample was composed of 451 adolescents (260 females and 185 males), with a mean of 15.55 years of age (SD = 1.49), who completed self-report questionnaires to assess early memories of warmth and safeness with peers (EMWSSPeers-A), self-disgust (MSDS-A) and borderline features (BPFS-C). Pearson’s correlation coefficients and a path analysis were performed using SPSS and PROCESS Macro.

Girls had higher values of self-disgust and borderline features than boys, as well as similar levels in early memories of warmth and safeness with peers. The mediation model was significant and explained 54% of the variance of the borderline traits, with early emotional positive memories with peers and self-disgust dimensions contributing significantly to the explanation model. Gender and exclusion (a specific dimension of the self-disgust scale) did not have predictive power in borderline features.

Our results contribute to a better understanding of the psychological mechanisms involved in the development of borderline traits and consequently to clinical practices and research on adolescence.

The code of ethics of the EPA intends to guide the ethical practice of psychiatry by offering a comprehensive approach to the ethical challenges in the field. It highlights universal ethical principles and considers their application to the specific practice of psychiatry. Ethical questions in psychiatric practice are manifold: tensions between respect for autonomy versus care and protection from harm, problems with coercive therapy and capacity for judgement etc. To receive more information, the Committee on Ethical Issues conducted a survey on “Ethics in psychiatric practice” to collect information from inpatient treatment settings of individual wards in psychiatric hospitals Europe-wide on following topics:

• - Experiences and practices addressing ethical conflicts and malpractice from the personal perspective of health care workers in these settings

• - Identification and engagement with violence

• - Measures for the reduction of restraints and coercion (violation of the autonomy of patients)

Stigmatization of mental illness by health care professionals is notuncommon, and it represents a source of suffering for patients inaddition to the primary illness.

To research factors influencing family medicine residents perceptions of psychiatric pathologies.

This is an analytical cross-sectional study among family medicineresidents enrolled at the Faculty of Medicine in Monastir (Tunisia),conducted over a period of 3 months (July 2022 to October 2022). TheCAMI (Community Attitudes towards the Mentally Ill) scale was usedto assess the attitude towards mental illness. Sociodemographic datawere collected through a pre-established questionnaire. The data wereanalyzed using SPSS software 26 th version. Percentage comparisonson independent series were performed using the Pearson chi-squaretest.

Our population was made up of 95 family medicine residents, dividedinto 28 males and 67 females. Sex ratio was 2.39. The average of agewas 28 years with extremes 25 and 35 years. 47.4% of residents(n=45) had a positive attitude towards mental illness. The associationbetween this positive attitude and a previous management of apatient with a mental illness was significant (pless than0.05). On the otherhand, there was no significant association neither with the existenceof a personal or family psychiatric history nor with the passagethrough a psychiatric internship of the residents towards mentalillness.

The management of patients with mental illness canreduce the stigmatization of mental illness by health professionals.Measures to raise awareness and create empathetic attitudestowards the mentally ill during physician training are needed toimprove the quality of front-line care.

Turner syndrome characterized by total/partial and/or homogeneous/mosaic X chromosome monosomy is associated with various physical health concerns, including facial dysmorphism, short stature, infertility, and other organ defects such as heart, kidney, bone, skin, … as well as variable degrees of cognitive impairments. Besides, social skills, communication and relationships are usually disordered.

The aim of this study was to report social challenges of Turner syndrome particularly related to discrimination regarding physical and cognitive impairments.

A retrospective analysis of clinic data and karyotypes were carried out for the patients diagnosed with Turner syndrome among patients who consulted at our genetic counselling at the medical University of Sfax, during the last two decades.

Cytogenetic analysis were carried out using conventional methods and RHG banding with analysis of at least 20 metaphases and 3 karyotypes for each patient. Social challenges were recorded for each patient during pre-cytogenetic consultation and oriented questioning.

We identified 23 cases referred with a cytogenetic diagnosis of monsomy X. The karyotyping was indicated for dysmorphism, primary or secondary amenorrhea, female infertility and recurrent pregnancy losses. Homogeneous X chromosome monosomy was recorded in 13% of cases, whereas mosaic forms with and without structural X/Y abnormalities were more frequent (82%). The mean age of patients in the study was twenty years. When the 45,X population was the predominant one (56,5%), dysmorphism and primary amenorrhea were constant. In the mosaic forms, clinical traits of Turner syndrome were insignificant. Discrimination based on physical appearance, intellectual disability, and failure to conceive were the three types of social challenges revealed by patients of our study. Parents of Turner patients were also concerned at the psychological level. They in fact revealed their emotional distress face to stressful experiences of their children with Turner syndrome regarding the social discrimination they encountered particularly in schools.

Social challenges related to discrimination based on physical appearance, intellectual disability, and failure to conceive in Turner syndrome lead to depression, low self-esteem and anxiety.

Conventional antidepressants, such as SSRIs, are an effective treatment for many patients with depression. However, for a significant proportion of patients SSRIs either lack efficacy or are poorly tolerated. Even when SSRIs are effective in treating mood symptoms, there are often residual symptoms that are not well treated, including cognitive impairment and anhedonia. The development of novel treatment for depression is particularly challenging given the limited predictive validity of animal models. Human neurocognitive models of antidepressant action can help to bridge the translational gap and allow rapid investigation of novel compounds in healthy volunteers and people with depression. In this talk, using the 5-HT4 receptor as an example of a novel target of interest, I will outline how these objective neurocognitive models can be used as a translational tool to understand antidepressant treatment mechanisms, guide treatment selection and test novel putative antidepressants early in development.

World Psychiatry, the official journal of the World Psychiatric Association, was founded in the year 2002. From the very beginning, its aims have been: a) to reach as many psychiatrists as possible worldwide, disseminating information on recent significant clinical, service and research developments, using a language that can be assimilated by most of them; b) to give voice to psychiatrists of all regions of the world, encouraging submission of research papers, commentaries and reports on innovative service modalities. The two main criteria by which an article submitted to the journal is evaluated have been from the beginning: a) its relevance to everyday clinical practice of the average psychiatrist; and b) its usefulness to foster the average psychiatrist’s professional growth. From its first issue, the journal has been freely available online. In the year 2008, World Psychiatry received its first impact factor, that was 3.896. On that same year, the publication of the Spanish edition of the journal was started. The impact factor of World Psychiatry has then increased year after year, up to the value of 79.683 reached in July 2022. For the eighth consecutive year, World Psychiatry has been no. 1 in the Clarivate’s category of Psychiatry, and for the fifth consecutive year no. 1 in the entire Clarivate’s Social Science Citation Index. All the issues of the journal are now freely available both on the PubMed system and on the WPA website. The journal reaches now, in its online or printed edition, more than 60,000 mental health professionals worldwide. Data regarding coping strategies used by bipolar patients to deal with psychosocial stress and their consequences in adaptational outcomes are scant. Moreover, family studies have reported the presence of several similarities between bipolar patients and their relatives regarding genetics, biology, personality traits, temperaments and stressful lived life experiences. Bipolar patients and their siblings had significantly higher global score of life events and more events in the field of work, socio-family events and health than control subjects. This might suggest that patients with bipolar disorder would be distinguished from their family members by the coping strategies they use to deal with stress.

In this study, we aimed to compare perceived stress and coping strategies of remitted bipolar I patients with those of their siblings and controls.

A descriptive and comparative study of case-control type was conducted. Were included 46 bipolar I patients, 46 siblings and 50 controls. The three groups were matched for age and sex. Assessments of perceived stress and coping strategies were performed using the 10-item Perceived Stress Scale (PSS) and the 28-item Brief COPE respectively.

Mean age of bipolar I patients was 39 ± 13 years. Thirty-one patients (67%) reported family history of one or more psychiatric disorders.Mean duration of bipolar disorder was 11.83 ± 9.92 years.

There was no significant difference between the three groups on PSS scores. Bipolar patients and siblings were more likely to use emotion-focused coping strategies than controls (p=0.001). Controls used problem-focused coping strategies more than bipolar patients (p = 0.02). Compared to controls, bipolar patients were less likely to use active coping and planning, but they showed higher scores in the dimensions of humor, religion and behavioral disengagement with intergroup p value: 0.02; 0.019; 0.002 respectively.

Our findings suggest that bipolar I patients were more likely to use maladaptive coping strategies to deal with stress than their siblings. Based on this observation, it seems advisable to study coping strategies used by bipolar patients, in order to reinforce adaptive strategies and to reduce maladaptive ones.

Postictal psychosis is the most frequent psychosis in epileptic patients, appearing between 3-8% of them. As temporary criteria, it must appear in less than a week after the epileptic crisis, with a duration of between 15 hours and 3 months.

We present the case of an 82-year-old patient admitted to the ED due to an epileptic seizure. Request evaluation for agitation and disorientation.

This is an 82-year-old patient diagnosed with epilepsy for 5 years, with unwitnessed seizures, under treatment with levetirazetam. In the last consultation with neurology, the differential diagnosis was raised with anxiety crises due to normal intercritical EEG.The patient went to the emergency room after a partial crisis, presenting a post-critical state and beginning hours later with disorientation in time and place, manifesting delusions of religious content, as well as visual hallucinations of the same type, presenting agitation that required pharmacological and mechanical restraint.

Admission to the Neurology Service was decided, with a good response to treatment with a typical intramuscular antipsychotic, with complete remission of the condition in 48 hours. Small areas of ischemia compatible with the patient’s age are observed in the cranial CT and the EEG shows slowed global activity.

Postictal psychosis is a phenomenon of low prevalence, however, it is important to take it into account. It is important to recognize the postictal “lucid” period in patients with a family or personal history of psychiatric illness and seizures with compromised consciousness.

The average of age was 28 years with extremes 25 and 35 years.46.3% (n=44) of the residents were enrolled in the first year, 22.1%(n=21) enrolled in the second year and 31.6% (n=30) enrolled in thethird year. 88.4% (n=84) of the residents did a psychiatric rotationduring their training.We found that 47.4% of residents (n=45) had a positive attitudetowards mental illness.

Psychotic disorder is defined as a loss of contact with reality. Those who suffer from it perceive an altered reality, assuming it to be true.This feeling of unreality generates nervousness, anguish, hypervigilance and even social and emotional isolation.

We present the case of a 18-year-old woman who attended the Emergency Department accompanied by the director of her college due to behavioral alterations. The patient reports that since she has moved to Salamanca to study,she has the feeling that her father has hired spies, one of them being her classmate, being able to hear sounds and voices, which she defines as motivating her to go on with her life. She reports that she is in a lower mood in this context and that there have been some days when she has not been able to attend class.

The objectives are to study the severity of the psychotic disorder in a young patient subjected to an episode of stress and to observe the reaction of the patient when it has been properly treated.

We carry out a review of the clinical history of a 18-year-old female patient with psychotic disorder, admitted to the Psychiatric Brief Hospitalization Unit (PBHU) in Salamanca.

The patient was treated with Risperidone 2mg/24h. After a few days in the PBHU, total disappearance of the psychotic symptoms was observed and the patient is completely self-critical. Once she was discharged, it was decided that she should return home with her parents for several months and continue treatment with Aripiprazole and Sertraline.

Occasionaly, there are ethical dilemmas about beginning to treat young patients with psychotic ideas derived from external situations. Optimal treatment including drugs, psychotherapy and family support are essential. According to the scientific literature,a greater involvement in diagnosis,treatment and follow-up is recommended in patients with psychotic symptomatology derived from stress.

Stigma in mental illness has a negative impact on the daily functioning of the patient, their personal development and their clinical prognosis. Direct contact with people who suffer from this pathology could modify the stigma towards these populations.

The objective of the study is to assess whether the stigma of mental illness in university students is modified by contact with people suffering from mental illness, established through volunteering activities with that population.

Observational case-control study. The sample is made up of young subjects (18 to 35 years old) who have studied or are studying a university degree during the 2021-2022 academic year. The cases (n=91) are subjects who have ever volunteered with people diagnosed with mental illness. Those who have not had this experience constitute the control group (n=237).

The variables were collected by completing an anonymous online questionnaire. To analyze stigma, the Attribution Questionnaire-27 questionnaire was used, which offers a total score as well as 9 domains related to stigma. Statistical analysis (including multiple linear regression) was performed with the statistical package IBM SPSS Statistics, version 20.

Once adjusted for age and gender, the case group scores lower, with statistically significant differences, in the subscales Anger (p-value: 0.001), Dangerousness (p-value: 0.000), Fear (p-value: 0.000 ), Coercion (p-value: 0.028), Segregation (p-value: 0.000), Avoidance (p-value: 0.000), as well as in the Total Score (p-value: 0.000). Likewise, it is also observed that the group of cases score higher on the Help subscale (p-value: 0.002).

Previous contact with patients with mental illness through voluntary activities seems to favor less stigma towards mental pathology.

Cannabis is an illicit substance whose use is very common among the patients we see daily in hospitals. Its use is not simply a “recreational” desire, but above all an attempt at self-medication in order to manage emotions that have become too painful. However, even if cannabis reduces the symptomatology in the moment, it worsens most psychiatric pathologies.

The purpose of this study is to assess the experiences of cannabis users’ families.

The survey was carried out among the families of patients hospitalized at the Arrazi Hospital in Salé and those followed in consultation and who use cannabis. The collection of information is done with the help of an exploitation form.

34.6% of the participating families put bad company as the cause of consumption, followed by family problems, psychiatric problems come in 3rd position with a percentage of 19.2%. Cannabis use is considered as a disease in 52.8% of the families participating in the study. 58.5% of the families distinguish between good and bad cannabis use and define bad use by the use of large quantities of cannabis in 34.2% of the cases. The majority of the participating families (86.8%) saw cannabis as aggravating their loved one’s mental illness.

The understanding of the perceptions of the families towards the use of cannabis by their close relatives as well as the correction of the false perceptions will help to establish better prevention programs and better patient care especially with the family therapy which showed its utility in the management of the patients having disorders related to the use of cannabis.

Healthcare practitioners (HCPs) are facing a mental health crisis. Group therapies have long been used to treat symptoms associated with PTSD, anxiety and/or depression, however no studies have investigated the role of implementing group therapy with and without ketamine-assisted therapies (KaT).

The current study investigated the effects of the Roots to Thrive (RTT) group therapy intervention both with and without adjunctive KaT.

In the present study we conduct a secondary analysis of data derived from the 12-week group psychotherapy program to that of the same program with adjunct KaT. Participants were administered a series of validated psychiatric assessment tools before and after the 12-weeks. Inclusion criteria included a diagnosis of treatment resistant mental health condition (depression, PTSD and/or generalized anxiety disorder) and a score of 15 or greater on the PTSD Checklist for DSM-5 (PCL-5). To assess the effects of time x group interaction and calculate differences between the RTT only and RTT-KaT subgroups, a repeated measures ANOVA was conducted. Effect sizes were calculated through partial eta-squared.

Forty-nine HCPs with treatment-resistant PTSD, anxiety and/or depression were treated with the RTT group therapy model to target their symptoms. A total of 49 individuals (34 female, 10 male, 3 other) with a median age of 47 years old (SD 14.19) participated in the study. There were no statistically significant differences between RTT only (n=14) and RTT KaT (n=35) subgroups across gender [X2 (1, N=44) = 2.84, ns] or age [F (1, 36) = .257, p = .615]. From pre- to post-treatment, all patients showed significant reductions in scores of PTSD (from 39.3 to 20.99), depression (from 15.5 to 7.7) and anxiety (from 15.5 to 6.2). Two-way repeated measures ANOVA did not reveal any significant between-group differences between the RTT and RTT-KaT subgroups.

This observational study provides preliminary support for the potential of the RTT community of care model of group therapy and adds to a small but growing body of knowledge on the integration of group therapy and the broad category of psychedelic psychotherapies. Given the rapid proliferation and expansion of KaT clinics throughout North America, the finding that KaT did not appear to impact changes related to the RTT intervention suggests the need for further research to better explain the potential impacts of relational transference between the two groups, and the distinct contributions of ketamine administration in a group therapy context.

Emergency psychiatric consultation requests present certain specificities both in the situations encountered and in their management, due to a close relationship between the consultant and his environment. To determine the epidemiological and clinical characteristics of patients reconsultants in the emergency medical department.

This is a cross-sectional study, conducted over a period of 12 months, from 01 April 2020 to 31 March 2021, in the emergency medical department of Mahdia University Hospital.

During the study period, 162 reconsultations for psychiatric emergencies were recorded. the age ranged from 18 to 61 years with an average of 35 years. The level of education was primary or secondary in 78.8% of cases. The majority of reconsultants had single marital status (70%). The absence of professional activity and social security coverage was found in 72.3 and 49% of cases respectively. The presence of family and personal psychiatric history was noted in 29.8% and 91.5% of reconsultants respectively. Heteroaggressiveness followed by instability were the most frequently encountered reasons for consultations with 23.4% and 12.8% of cases respectively. The presence of a triggering factor was found in 63.8% of cases where problems with the main support group followed by those related to the social environment and those related to access to health services were the most reported with 49.23 and 13% respectively. The syndromic psychiatric diagnoses were, in decreasing order of frequency, psychomotor excitement (23.4%), delusional syndrome (17%), dissociative syndrome (12.8%) and somatic conversion (12.8). For reconsultants, relational approach and/or injectable treatment were the most used therapeutic means immediatly (49%). Neuroleptics and benzodiazepines were prescribed in 38% and 13% of cases, respectively. The decision to hospitalize in a psychiatric department concerned 45% of reconsultants.

Referral decisions favored the organization of ambulatory follow-up, with a decrease in the rate of hospitalization. These results make it possible to identify the evolutionary trends of the population consulting in emergency

A case-control design was performed in 297 individuals with GD and 41 HC, assessed through a semi-structured clinical interview and a psychometric battery, adding 38 HC in the evaluation of endocrine and anthropometric variables.

Individuals with GD presented higher fasting plasma ghrelin (p<.001) and lower LEAP2 and adiponectin concentrations (p<.001) than HC adjusting for body mass index (BMI). The GD group reported higher cognitive impairment regarding cognitive flexibility and decision-making strategies, a worse psychological state, higher impulsivity levels, and a more dysfunctional personality profile. Despite failing to find significant associations between endocrine factors and either neuropsychological or clinical aspects in GD, some impaired cognitive dimensions and lower LEAP2 concentrations significantly predicted GD presence.

This study suggests distinctive neuropsychological and endocrine dysfunctions may operate in individuals with GD, predicting GD presence. Further exploration of endophenotypic vulnerability pathways in GD appear warranted, especially with respect to etiological and therapeutic potentials.

The Department of Cordoba is located in the north of Colombia and is a key territory for understanding the political violence that the country has experienced. Cordoba has suffered the armed conflict with various groups present in the area. In the category of victimizing acts, more than 30,000 victims of forced displacement have been reported and 4,621 for forced disappearance.

The objective of this study is to evaluate the prevalence of PTSD and associated factors in a population victim of violence in Cordoba, Colombia.

Design: cross-sectional, using quantitative data. Participants: victims of forced displacement in Cordoba (n=95), of whom 42.75% (n=45) were men and 57.25% (n=50) were women. The mean age of the participants was 40.7 (SD 14.1) Instruments: Clinician-Administered PTSD Scale (CAPS) (Blake et al., 1990) was administered to check clinical symptoms of the Disorder; to assess the causes of symptoms was administered The PTSD Checklist PCL-C is a short version of the PTSD Checklist – Civilian version (Weathers, 1993). Additionally, the BDI was administered to assess depression and STAI to measure anxiety. Data analysis: a Student’s t-test was used to assess the difference by gender and age groups. Descriptive statistics were also used to identify clinical characteristics of the sample.

In relation to the activation factor, it was found that the men in the sample presented significant differences compared to the women [Activation. F= (1.117) = .79; p = 0.00]. Meanwhile, PTSD was presented equally in both sexes and in all age groups with a prevalence of 26% of the sample. The most prevalent events assumed to cause the disorder were extreme human suffering and natural disaster. Depression levels were moderate in 33.3% of the population and state anxiety showed a level of 77.8% of the sample.

Our study finds that 26% of the population suffered from PTSD and in a significant percentage comorbidities were found with depression, anxiety, added to the vulnerability of those who have experienced these events, that is, revictimization, low access to social services, low schooling and poverty. It is important to consider the multifactorial nature of PTSD and its relationship with the presence of traumatic events (Bados, 2015; Kessler et al., 2014). In Colombia there is a challenge related to the intervention of this population, which constitutes future lines in our research.

Screening for early detection of health issues and support are provided to children needing developmental support. In Japan, a significant percentage of infants requiring support are identified during health checkups. Sometimes, however, problems are first observed when children are of school age. It is, therefore, important to identify the age at which children need early support.

Of the children born in 2005 in Kanie-cho, in Japan, 106 participated in the survey at all time points: age 5, first grade, fifth grade, and eighth grade.

The medical checkup results of the participants at age 5 were used to determine who among them needed support After entering school, the participants who scored less than 70 points on the Children’s Global Assessment Scale, where their adjustment was assessed based on the interview with the homeroom teacher, were considered maladjusted.

The results are presented in Table 1.

Thirty participants needed supports at age 5; of these, 20 (66.7%) were maladjusted at any point in their school years—19 (95%) in the first grade, 14 (70%) till the fifth grade, and five (25%) till the eighth grade.

Of the 76 participants who did not need support in early childhood, 24 (31.6%) were maladjusted at some point in their school years—nine (37.5%) experienced maladjustment in the first grade, but none of them continued to be maladjusted till the fifth grade, and 14 (58.3%) who were not maladjusted in the first grade experienced it in the fifth or eighth grade (adolescents).

Thus, the participants maladjusted in their school years were categorized as follows:

1. The developmental disorders group (experiencing maladjustment throughout since early childhood): 19

2. The “first grade problem” group (experiencing transient problems only in the first grade): 9

3. The adolescent group (experiencing problems during adolescence): 14

Since maladjusted children with developmental disabilities are identified in early childhood, support can be provided before they reach school age. Many children with developmental disabilities improve their adjustment as they grow up. It is thus advisable to take a long-term perspective in dealing with problematic behaviors.

From late school age to adolescence, problems unrelated to developmental disabilities emerge. By listening to the child’s upbringing, it may be possible to ascertain whether or not the problem stems from a developmental disability.
