Keratella mexicana is a recently described species, known from a few localities only. Here we present new information on the distribution and morphology of the species based on a survey of 104 water bodies in Central Mexico. The ultra structural morphology of the trophi and lorica of K. mexicana is studied using scanning electron microscopy (SEM).

The study of new samples of oligochaetes from Lake Baikal (Siberia) made possible description of two new species of thegenus Rhynchelmis, R. alyonae sp. n. and R. shamanensis sp. n. Rhynchelmis alyonae sp. n. has modified genital setae, a charactermentioned for the third time in the Lumbriculidae. These species belong to a complex of small Rhynchelmis, characterisedby two pairs of testes, two pairs functional sperm funnels, no connection between spermathecae and gut cavity, and short,elongate, straight atria extending, at most, into segment XII. Other representatives of this group are R. olchonensis, R. paraolchonensisand probably R. spermatochaeta. The Hrabe specimens of R. olchonensis are not considered to belong to this speciesand are included into R. shamanensis sp. n. An examination of the ultrastructure of spermatozoa of R. alyonae sp. n. indirectlygives some support to the validity of this group. The group is suspected to harbour other new species in Lake Baikal where itseems more and more to constitute a species flock.

An overview is given of our present knowledge on taxonomy, phylogeny and biogeography of catfishes or Siluroidei, one of the worlds economically important groups of fresh and brackish water fishes. In an introductory chapter, the taxonomic position of catfishes in the ichthyological classification is discussed; their external morphology is briefly described and synapomorphies showing their monophyly are listed. In the following chapter, cattish systematics are presented. Thirty three families with 416 genera and 2 584 species are presently recognized, but these numbers are continuously changing; it is therefore obvious that the systematics of many taxa are still rather poorly known. For each family, data (if any) supporting their monophyly are given together with a short description of their external morphology. The valid genera are listed, with for each genus, the number of presently recognized species with a reference (if any) to a recent revisionary study. Contributions to the phylogenetic study of catfishes are scarce, and dealing only with a few families and with a limited number of taxa within the families. As a resultsonly few data on catfish phylogeny are presently known. Therefore, also our knowledge on historicalbiogeography of catfishes is seriously limited, until more date become available on interfamilial and intergeneric relationships.

Plusieurs études réalisées dans l'ouest du Burkina, sur les hauts cours du Kou, du Mouhoun (bassin des Voltas) et de la Léraba (bassin de la Comoé), ont permis la mise en évidence d'une région faunistique originale. Ces travaux ont notablement accru notre connaissance de la faune des Trichoptères de ce pays. Les recherches antérieures menées soit au Burkina sur le Nazinon et la Comoé, soit dans des écosystèmes similaires en Côte d'Ivoire, indiquaient une remarquable homogénéité faunistique des cours d'eau situés dans la zone des savanes. Par contre, nous observons, dans cette zone refuge, la présence d'espèces dont les affinités sont forestières ou montagnardes (Fouta Djalon). Ce phénomène est lié à une altitude supérieure, à la permanence de l'écoulement et à la présence de forêts classés. Huit espèces nouvelles sont décrites, elles appartiennent aux genres Cheumatopsyche, Ecnomus, Hydroptila, Oxyethira et Ugandatrichia.

Ce travail comprend la description de 2 nouvelles espèces d'Enchytraeus : E. varithecatus n. sp. et E. variatus n. sp. et la redescription d'E. bigeminus Niel. & Chr. Ces 3 espèces ont été obtenues à partir de cultures. Les auteurs font ensuite des remarques sur la biologie, la morphologie et surtout la taxinomie des espèces européennes du genre Enchytraeus.

Des représentants de 10 espèces de Psychodinae ont été recueillis au Liban ; 4 d'entre elles ont une vaste répartitionen Europe et même en dehors de ce continent ; 5 autres espèces sont nouvelles et chacune d'entre elles est proche d'une espèce de la partie occidentale de l'Europe.

Rhynchelmis paraolchonensis n. sp. a été récoltée dans un étang des Landes (France). Elle appartient au groupe des Rhynchelmis dont les muscles longitudinaux ne sont pas disposés en 8 masses recourbées et dont la spermathèque n'est pas en communication avec l'œsophage. Cette forme est proche de R. olchonensis Burov et Kozov, du lac Baïkal.Stylodrilus glandulosus n. sp. a été récoltée dans le fleure Mino en Espagne. Elle possède un atrium long, comme S. subcarpathicus (Hrabe) et S. longiatriatus Dembitsky. Elle se caractérise par son bulbe pénien très développé et par la présence de massifs glandulaires à la base de la spermathèque et au niveau du sac pénien.
