In noncommutative algebraic geometry an Artin–Schelter regular (AS-regular) algebra is one of the main interests, and every three-dimensional quadratic AS-regular algebra is a geometric algebra, introduced by Mori, whose point scheme is either $\mathbb {P}^{2}$ or a cubic curve in $\mathbb {P}^{2}$ by Artin et al. [‘Some algebras associated to automorphisms of elliptic curves’, in: The Grothendieck Festschrift, Vol. 1, Progress in Mathematics, 86 (Birkhäuser, Basel, 1990), 33–85]. In the preceding paper by the authors Itaba and Matsuno [‘Defining relations of 3-dimensional quadratic AS-regular algebras’, Math. J. Okayama Univ. 63 (2021), 61–86], we determined all possible defining relations for these geometric algebras. However, we did not check their AS-regularity. In this paper, by using twisted superpotentials and twists of superpotentials in the Mori–Smith sense, we check the AS-regularity of geometric algebras whose point schemes are not elliptic curves. For geometric algebras whose point schemes are elliptic curves, we give a simple condition for three-dimensional quadratic AS-regular algebras. As an application, we show that every three-dimensional quadratic AS-regular algebra is graded Morita equivalent to a Calabi–Yau AS-regular algebra.

We prove a representation stability result for the codimension-one cohomology of the level-three congruence subgroup of $\mathbf{SL}_{n}(\mathbb{Z})$. This is a special case of a question of Church, Farb, and Putman which we make more precise. Our methods involve proving finiteness properties of the Steinberg module for the group $\mathbf{SL}_{n}(K)$ for $K$ a field. This also lets us give a new proof of Ash, Putman, and Sam’s homological vanishing theorem for the Steinberg module. We also prove an integral refinement of Church and Putman’s homological vanishing theorem for the Steinberg module for the group $\mathbf{SL}_{n}(\mathbb{Z})$.

Given a quasi-hereditary algebra , we present conditions which guarantee that the algebra obtained by grading by its radical filtration is Koszul and at the same time inherits the quasi-hereditary property and other good Lie-theoretic properties that might possess. The method involves working with a pair consisting of a quasi-hereditary algebra and a (positively) graded subalgebra . The algebra arises as a quotient of by a defining ideal of . Along the way, we also show that the standard (Weyl) modules for have a structure as graded modules for . These results are applied to obtain new information about the finite dimensional algebras (e.g., the -Schur algebras) which arise as quotients of quantum enveloping algebras. Further applications, perhaps the most penetrating, yield results for the finite dimensional algebras associated with semisimple algebraic groups in positive characteristic . These results require, at least at present, considerable restrictions on the size of .

We prove a version of Kontsevich’s formality theorem for two subspaces (branes) of a vector space X. The result implies, in particular, that the Kontsevich deformation quantizations of S(X*) and ∧(X) associated with a quadratic Poisson structure are Koszul dual. This answers an open question in Shoikhet’s recent paper on Koszul duality in deformation quantization.

Let R be the exterior algebra in n + 1 variables over a field K. We study the Auslander–Reiten quiver of the category of linear R-modules, and of certain subcategories of the category of coherent sheaves over Pn. If n > 1, we prove that up to shift, all but one of the connected components of these Auslander–Reiten quivers are translation subquivers of a ${\bf Z} A_{\infty}$-type quiver. We also study locally free sheaves over the projective n-space Pn for n > 1 and we show that each connected component contains at most one indecomposable locally free sheaf of rank less than n. Finally, using results from the theory of finite-dimensional algebras, we construct a family of indecomposable locally free sheaves of arbitrary large ranks, where the ranks can be computed using the Chebysheff polynomials of the second kind.

The goal of this paper is to study the Koszul property and the property of having a Gröbner basis of quadrics for classical varieties and algebras as canonical curves, finite sets of points and Artinian Gorenstein algebras with socle in low degree. Our approach is based on the notion of Gröbner flags and Koszul filtrations. The main results are the existence of a Gröbner basis of quadrics for the ideal of the canonical curve whenever it is defined by quadrics, the existence of a Gröbner basis of quadrics for the defining ideal of s [les ] 2n points in general linear position in Pn, and the Koszul property of the ‘generic’ Artinian Gorenstein algebra of socle degree 3.
