During the COVID-19 pandemic residents of the central region of Hungary also had to adapt to several challenges such as changes of hospitals’ specialty profiles and delegation of health care workers to COVID wards.

Hungarian residents have their practical training in various hospitals, while their psychiatric academic training is organised in groups.

Our aim is to share our personal experiences about how our work and training have changed during the pandemic and it’s effect on our patients.

Participants of the study were the authors of the poster. Responses to open questions were structured based on the following topics: competencies in internal medicine, infectious diseases and psychiatry, our collaboration with other medical disciplines, psychiatric training and attitudes towards mental health patients.

We worked min 2 weeks max 8 months at COVID wards and also treated COVID-19 infected psychiatric patients, thus gaining a greater experience in general medicine. In psychiatric work, acute care became prominent, communication in PPE and restricted contact with patients’ relatives were particularly difficult. Our relationship with other specialists has improved, consultation became easier. Increased use and misuse of psychiatric consultation requests led to further pressure. Restrictions, stigmatisation and discrimination increased against psychiatric patients, including difficult access to care. Psychiatric training in the hospitals became limited, however seminars organized by the university continued online with our active participation.

During the pandemic we gained greater experience in general medicine. Psychiatric care and our training was negatively affected, however the latter was mitigated by online seminars.

Measurement-Based Care (MBC) is an emerging healthcare model with a number of potential advantages over traditional approaches for the treatment of substance use disorder (SUD). Despite SUD treatment programs being theoretically well suited for the implementation of MBC, its uptake has been minimal, which in turn limits further research, knowledge synthesis, and translation into clinical practice.

The goal of this knowledge synthesis project is to stimulate greater consideration of MBC models in addictions programs, with three interrelated objectives: 1. To summarize the existing evidence from research literature 2. To complement the literature findings with the data from our clinical research and quality improvement projects 3. To explore potential risks and difficulties of MBC implementation in the SUD treatment programs

Narrative review. Knowledge synthesis.

To date, only two published randomized controlled trials, which along with the data from our pragmatic clinical research, support the wider implementation of MBC in the substance abuse treatment settings, but also indicate the high need for larger-scale clinical trials and quality improvement programs. Potential barriers to the implementation of MBC for SUD are outlined at the patient, provider, organization, and system levels, as well as challenges associated with the use of MBC programs for clinical research. Critical thinking considerations and risk mitigation strategies are offered toward advancing MBC for SUD beyond the current nascent state.

The state-of-the-art of MBC in SUD care settings reviewed and the strategies for further development from adminsitrative, clinical, and research prospectives outlined.

As a part of continuous destigmatization of mental illness and paople with mental disorders significant importance has media reporting, especially in modern times.

Media reports about mental health (MH) are still an issue of a great discussion concerning their content especially in ethical matters. Many initiatives in different countries resulted in various changes in attitudes and influenced on this topic. But the image of mental illness as well as psychiatry in general are still burdened with the shadow of stigma.

To show development of one of initiatives in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BH) supported by policy makers through the creation and broad distribution of recommendations for ethical media reporting about mental disorders.

In 2019 Task Force appointed by both entities’ ministries of health in BH developed an publication with recommendation for ethical reporting about mental health topics with special highlights on specific mental disorders (schizophrenia, depression, suicide, addictions, etc.). It was widely distributed to media and health institutions in the country and was officially adopted as the recommendation of the national Regulatory Agency for Media. Trough five rounds of educational workshops in 2019 and 2021 more than 150 media and mental health professionals were introduced with the publication as well as practical implementation of this recommendations (as is exercises of giving statement).

In BH is developed very useful tool for more quality media reporting about MH topics as one of important ways for reducing the stigma and discrimination of people with mental disorders as well as promotion of good mental health

A psychotic episode might stem from various psychiatric disorders, such as Major Depressive Disorder, Mania, Autism Spectrum Disorder, it might lead to Schizophrenia, or it might be a single event.

The study aimed to assess the main comorbidities encountered in the onset of psychotic episodes in children and adolescents, who were hospitalized in a pediatric psychiatry department for at least one night. Furthermore, another objective was to establish whether a family history of mental illness or a poor socio-economic status have bigger impact on the evolution of these patients.

To analyze the objectives, it was used an observational study, based on patients with the onset of a psychotic episode and associated diagnosis according to ICD-10, evaluated in Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Department of “Prof. Dr. Al. Obregia” Hospital, between 2015-2019. Patients with psychotic episodes with onset related to Major Depressive Disorder and Mania or a personal history of Schizophrenia were excluded.

The most frequent associated comorbidity was Autism Spectrum Disorder. In terms of long-term evolution, patients with comorbidities have poorer outcomes, more relapses and hospitalizations. Family history of mental illness, low socio-economic status, the age of onset were found to be prognostic factors and have an important impact on the outcome.

This study compared patients with psychotic episodes with and without comorbid conditions associated, considering the length of hospitalization period, the evolution and the number of relapses. The presence and the type of comorbidities are important factors of evolution and prognostic for these patients.

Leadership in healthcare organisations is crucial to continually improve and provide high quality compassionate care. Leadership development and training enables the psychiatrists in developing these essential skills. Focusing on how to enhance leadership development through leadership skills training and experiential learning should be a priority. However, little is known about the extent to which this leadership skills training is available across Europe in the early stage of the career of psychiatrists.

To investigate the access to leadership development opportunities among European psychiatric trainees and early career psychiatrists (ECPs) and their perceptions related to leadership skills training.

Cross-sectional study, using an online survey consisting of multiple-choice questions and free text responses.

Participants from 33 European countries took part in this survey, where the majority were female. More than half were general adult psychiatric trainees and more than a quarter ECPs. About half indicated having no access to leadership skills training within their training program, with only about 10% being satisfied with the training received. About half sought additional training outside their program. A vast majority requested training in leadership skills to be included in a psychiatric training program.

Our study provides an overview of important gaps in availability and access to leadership skills training amongst psychiatric trainees and ECPs across Europe. We hope that this study will help inform future actions pertaining to development and improvement of leadership skills training for trainees and ECPs across Europe.

Aripiprazole once-monthly is a long-acting intramuscular injectable formulation of aripiprazole. The starting dose can be administered by following one of two regimens: • One injection start: On the day of initiation, administer one injection of 400 mg Aripiprazole once monthly and continue treatment with 10 mg to 20 mg oral aripiprazole per day for 14 consecutive days • Two injection start (New regimen): On the day of initiation, administer two separate injections of 400 mg Aripiprazole once monthly at separate injection sites, along with one 20 mg dose of oral aripiprazole.

Mean variations from baseline scores at 6 months was (-1.1 ±0.89) on the GCI-SCH. The percentage of patients who remained free of admissions at the end of the 6 months was 90%. The rate of adherence to treatment after 6 months was 80%. The most frequent side effect was transient mild insomnia (20%) .

European Federation of Psychiatric Trainees (EFPT) is a platform for psychiatric trainees from not only Europe but also various other countries. EFPT exclusively works on binding clinical practice and science for better mental health care. Research Working Group (RWG) of EFPT works on sharing knowledge with peers by brainstorming, collaborating and coordinating projects, organizing journal clubs and workshops.

We will focus on tele-psychiatry also known as e-mental health, a subdivision of telemedicine, provides diagnostic interview, evaluation, therapies, psycho-education and treatment. We plan The Brain-Drain follow-up study, investigates immigration of psychiatric trainees. Also educational activities have planned.

With a questionnaire on the topic of psychiatry residents’ acceptance of tele-psychiatry using The Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT), we will hold the first multi-national survey among psychiatry residents. The Brain-Drain study was conducted by the EFPT-RWG in the past had a promising outcome. We are currently working on the follow-up of the study. We are starting to hold events. For instance we will commence the monthly journal club. Apart from giving a platform for scientific debate, journal club will also provide a chance have a elaborate discussion with author. We will organize a workshop on how to write a case-study with Neuro-Psycho-Pharmacology Working Group of EFPT.

We assume diverse attitudes overlapping different telepsychiatry exposure and regualtions, comprehensive data on immigration of trainees and sharing knowledge on practice and research.

Hopefully, we will have clearer understanding of changes in working environment of trainees either with new technologies or in different countries.

Chronic hand eczema (CHE) , inflammatory dermatitis, can lead to physical and psychosocial disability altering the quality of life of these patients.

The objective of this study was to examine the quality of life in patients with chronic hand eczema

Descriptive study collating patients who consulted for CHE, at the Dermatology Department of the CHU Hédi Chaker Sfax, during 3 years (2018-2020). A socio-demographic, clinic , and the Quality of life Questionnaire (DLQI) were administered in this study.

Our study included 12 patients (8 men and 4 women). The mean age was 46.8±11.6 years. The patients were in professional activity in 86.8% of the cases. No patient was in early retirement or disability status. The average duration of the disease was 4.5 years (1- 9 years). All patients were in remission. The intensity of pruritus at the last attack was mild (25.77%), moderate (72.23%), and severe (2%). The impact of pruritus on sleep was noted in 100%. The mean total quality of life score (DLQI) was 6.8±5.5 which means a moderate impairment of quality of life

This work highlights the importance of the impact of this dermatitis on the quality of life of these patients. Therefore, multidisciplinary dermatological and psychiatric management is considered necessary

Gambling disorder involves repeated problematic gambling behavior that causes significant problems or distress. It is also called gambling addiction or compulsive gambling.

In Tunisia, a muslum country, gambling is prohibited and casinos are non-existent or only for tourists with foreign currency. Lately, with the spread of casinos online and sites of sports betting, gambling’s become problematic in Tunisia. People accumulated huge debts with feelings of shame and guilt leading to suicidal attempts.

Studying the link between gambling disorder and suicidal attempts and comparing the different preventive measures proposed for online gambling.

a case of a patient with gambling disorder that was hospitalized in a psychiatric hospital for a suicidal attempt by stabbing himself and a review of a literature.

Mr R.A was a 42-year-old man with no family nor personal psychiatric history. He has no history of a particular substance use disorder. He was married and a father of two children and has a regular job.

A year ago, he stated gambling on internet sites using his phone cell and, in several months, he lost a lot of money and accumulated debts.

Lately he committed two attempts of suicide. The first one was by swallowing rat poison. The second one was a month later, by stabbing himself with a knife that caused evisceration and required surgery then an hospitalization in a psychiatric unit.

There’s evidence that GD and SB are associated, although there’s disagreement about the nature of this association. Adequate preventive measures should be considered by governments

Most research on COVID-19 effects has focused on the general population. Here we measure its impact on Dutch FACT and autism outpatient service users during both waves.

This study aimed to: 1) investigate participants’ mental health, 2) assess experiences with outpatient services, and 3) assess respondents’ experiences with governmental measures in the Netherlands during the first and second wave of COVID-19.

Respondents (wave 1: n=100; wave 2: n=150) reported on mental health, experiences with outpatient care, government measures and information services in an online survey.

Findings demonstrate happiness was rated an average of 6 out of 10, 70% of respondents scored below average on resilience, positive consequences for mental health (ordered world, reflection time) during both waves were similar, and prominent negative consequences included decreased social interactions and increased or new problems regarding mental health and daily functioning from wave 1-2. Lifestyle changed in 50% in both waves, although only slightly attributed to the pandemic. Substance use during both waves hardly changed. Mental healthcare continuation was highly appreciated in both waves (75-80% scored ≥7 on 10-point scale). (Video)calling was the most frequently mentioned positive care experience; missing face-to-face contact with care providers considered most negative. COVID-19 measures were less doable in the second wave. Vaccination willingness approximated 70%.

Results show a nuanced, but clear picture of experiences during both waves. Continuation of services through tele-health was well-received. Monitoring of long-term impact is needed.

Wernicke Encephalopathy (WE) is the best characterized neurological complication of thiamine deficiency. Its clinical presentation can be diverse, including hallucinatory or delusional symptoms, and not necessarily associated with the classical triad of WE. This correlates with higher rates of under diagnosis. We present the case of a 72-year-old man with a history of alcoholism who was admitted to the hospital due to behavioural disturbances and subacute delusional ideas of harm.

To review the epidemiology and clinical features of WE, as well as its clinical management.

Review of the literature on WE clinical presentation and management, focusing on psychopathological symptoms, applying the information to this specific case.

Classical triad of WE is only to be found in 10-17% of patients. The most common clinical presentation is changes in mental state (82%), varying from subtle changes in memory, apathy, subtle disorientation or indifference to more severe presentations such as delirium, stupor or coma. Other frequent symptoms include oculomotor dysfunction and gait ataxia. High dose thiamine supplementation therapy has proven effective in preventing clinical progression and permanent neurological damage.

- WE is the most prevalent complication of thiamine deficiency, being associated to alcoholism in 50% of cases. - Changes in mental state is the most frequent form of clinical presentation, not necessarily associated with the classical triad of WE. - WE is a medical emergency that requires high dose thiamine supplementation therapy to prevent permanent neurological damage.

Since the outbreak of the 2019 coronavirus, healthcare workers found themselves on the front lines of an unprecedented battle. Being characterized by adversity, this experience represents a fertile ground for the study of resilience.

Our study aims to clarify the phenomenon of resilience through its influence on perceived stress level and its connection with coping strategies.

A cross-sectional study was conducted involving 254 healthcare professionals in the region of Sousse during the pandemic. In addition to socio-demographic and professional characteristics, Resilience, perceived stress, and coping strategies were assessed using the Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC), the PSS10 scale, and the Brief Cope questionnaire, respectively.

The overall mean [±standard deviation (SD)] age of the participants was 32.9 ± 8.76 years with a sex ratio (M / F) of 0.51. The assessment of resilience among participants revealed a mean score of 64.99 ± 14.72. The majority of participants evinced a score> 50 (82.68%) and 39.76% had a score >70. Our results revealed that, on the one hand, problem-focused coping strategies were positive predictors of resilience (p<10-3), accounting for 3.6% of its variance. On the other hand, coping strategies (problem-focused strategies and avoidance strategies) are also an integral part of the process by which resilience significantly influences the level of perceived stress (mediating factor).

Despite its complexity, the relationship between resilience and coping strategies is undeniable and it is a part of an important line of intervention opening the way to better identifications and care.

The COVID-19 pandemic has become the subject of intense discussion on social media platforms. Fake news and conspiracy theories about the SARS-CoV-2 virus, in particular its origin, spread, impact on health and prevention, have become especially popular. The social crisis triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic is associated with a growing tendency to believe in conspiracy theories, which in turn may contribute to an increase in anxiety tension and thus deteriorate the psychological health of citizens.

The aim of the study was to determine the relationships between the tendency to believe in false information about the COVID-19 pandemic and the severity of symptoms of anxiety and depression among the surveyed Polish citizens.

The study included 700 Polish people aged 24.7±6.34 years. We used questionnaires such as: COVID-19 Conspiratorial Beliefs Scale to measure the level of belief in false information regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, Generic Conspiracist Beliefs Scale to measure tendencies to believe in conspiracy theories, and Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale.

Belief in false information about the COVID-19 pandemic may be associated with a slight increase in the severity of both anxiety symptoms (b=0.044; p=0.021) and depression (b=0.048; p=0.004). A factor known as belief in the criminal activity of government organizations may also contribute to predicting the increase in the severity of symptoms of anxiety (b=0.172; p=0.001) and depression (b=0.169; p=0.000) during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Belief in false information about the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as belief in general conspiracy theories, can contribute to the psychological deterioration of citizens during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Public health authorities around the world have been disseminating messages to support mental health and psychosocial well-being during the COVID-19 pandemic. Based on the Portuguese guidelines, we have developed the Adherence Scale to the Recommendations for Mental Health during the COVID-19 Pandemic (ASR-MH-COVID19) to better understand this health behaviour.

To analyse the relationship between sociodemographics, personality traits, Adherence (to the Recommendations for Mental Health during the COVID-19 Pandemic) and psychological distress.

413 individuals (69.2% female; mean age=31.02±14,272) completed an on-line survey, in September-December 2020, including sociodemographic questions, ASR-MH-COVID19, NEO-FFI-20 and Depression Anxiety Stress Scale (DASS-21) and Health Perception Scale.

Adherence scores did not significantly differ by gender, age and years of education. Women presented higher DASS and Neuroticism scores (p<.01). Adherence were negatively correlated with Neuroticism (r=-.247) and with Depression/Anxiety/Stress (all r».-200), positively with Openness to Experience (r=.174), Conscientiousness (r=.194) and Perceived Health (Physical, r=.173 and Psychological, r=.215) (all p<.01). Mediation analysis (Hays’ Macro Process - Model 4) revealed that Adherence is a partial mediator between Openness and DASS and Conscientiousness and DASS; when considering Neuroticism, only the direct effect was significant. The effect of Perceived Health (both Physical and Psychological) on DASS was also mediated by Adherence.

The Health Behaviour Model proposes a pathway linking personality and health that applies to these results about adherence and psychological distress during the COVID-19 pandemic. Personality and perceived health (also a trait) influence both adherence to mental health behaviours and psychological distress. Understanding personality is vital for health care providers.

The evidence for the positive effects of mindfulness-based interventions on psychological well-being and physical health has been convincing in recent years. As a specific form of such an intervention, the Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) training program was developed to promote self-compassion and mindfulness. An initial study on an adapted version of the MSC training program considered it to be beneficial in psychiatric inpatient rehabilitation.

The present study aims to further evaluate the link between MSC and psychological symptoms as well as quality of life.

A randomized controlled trial was conducted from September 2020 to August 2021. A total of 228 patients (64% female, 36% male) participated in a six-week psychiatric rehabilitation program to assess the impact of an adapted MSC training program compared to the control intervention of Progressive Muscle Relaxation training (PMR) on psychological well-being. Both training programs took place once a week for 75 minutes as part of a standardized inpatient rehabilitation program. The participants completed the Self-Compassion Scale (SCS), the Brief Symptom Inventory (BSI-18), and the Short-Form-Health-Survey-12 (SF-12) pre and post intervention.

At the moment, statistical analyses are being carried out. Detailed results will be presented on the poster.

The results of this study will contribute to rehabilitation research as they provide further insight into the role of MSC in the treatment of mental disorders. In addition, the clinical implications, and possible effects of changes in the rehabilitation program during the COVID-19 pandemic on the protocol and the results of this study will be discussed.

Body dysmorphic disorder (BDD) is a relatively common disorder characterized by a preoccupation with non-existent or slight defects in appearance. It was first described in 1886 by Morselli as dysmorphophobia.

This work reviews the current available data on BDD and its treatment options and describes a clinical case that reports an improvement in symptomatology after surgery.

Non-systematic review of the literature with selection of scientific articles published in the past 10 years; by searching Pubmed and Medscape databases using the combination of MeSH descriptors. The following MeSH terms were used: “body dysmorphic disorder”, “dysmorphophobia”. Clinical file consultation.

The usual treatment involves a combination of psychotherapy and pharmacotherapy. Antidepressant medication, mainly selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) have been used. If the symptoms do not improve, a different SSRI can be considered or clomipramine, venlafaxine or second-generation antipsychotics can be useful.

The role of surgery remains controversial, several studies indicating that the symptoms typically worsen after an aesthetic procedure because the preoccupation shifts to a different body area. However a recent study reported 32 of the 41 patients that underwent surgery were highly satisfied with the outcome. In our clinical case, our patient, a 20-year-old female with non-delusional dysmorphic ideas about her nose initiated treatment with paroxetine with poor response and was, against medical opinion, submitted to a rhinoplasty. Three weeks after the surgery there was an improvement in preoccupation about her nose. More research should be made to clarify the role of surgery in this disorder that often lacks adequate therapeutical response.

There is a current trend towards an increase in the number of elderly prisoners due to the increase in life expectancy and the change in the attitude of society and the judicial system. The cut-off for “older offender” is defined from the age of 50, due to the lifestyle previous to prision and premature ageing.

The authors intend to understand the challenges of aging in prison and forensic services, highlighting the psychiatric comorbidities of inmates and how these services can adapt to the needs of this population.

Non-systematic review of the literature.

Studies of elderly in prisons and elderly forensic psychiatric patients are limited. Prisoners have increased physical and psychiatric morbidity and early mortality as they are more exposed to risk factors and more likely to have at least one health problem compared to older adults in the community. Compared to older people in the community, older prisoners are at higher risk for most psychiatric disorders including depression, psychosis, bipolar disorder, cognitive impairment, personality disorder and anxiety. Suicide rates are also higher among elderly prisoners. The inadequacy of the prison system to respond to the unique needs of elderly prisoners has a detrimental impact on their overall experience of incarceration. The development of specific services for elderly prisoners or the adaptation of mixed units for the elderly population is proposed.

The elderly population in prisons is growing and has higher risk of psychiatric pathology compared to community elders. Prison services with difficulties in identifying and meeting these needs.

Timely and accurate information is foundational to moderating and curing the COVID-19 for both the public and the scientific community, while repeated media exposure to crisis-related information raises stress and anxiety among general population.

The main goal of the current study was to evaluate the associations between the COVID-19-related information sources and anxiety levels.

An online web-survey recruited participants who were ≥18 years old and lived in Romanian through an online campaign in May 2021. Participants were asked whether they received COVID-19-related information frequently from the following sources: the Internet, traditional media, medical staff in health care settings or from friends, co-workers, or family members. We also assessed participants’ level of anxiety with Zung Self-Rating Anxiety Scale (SAS) and the cut-off point for anxiety index was set at 45. The associations of each information source with anxiety were examined using multiple regression analyses to control for sex, age, education and other demographic characteristics.

In total, the data of 1559 respondents (1224 female; mean age = 37.03 years and standard deviation (SD)=12.90 years) were analysed. The mean index score for SAS were 44.28 (SD=10.6). The major source of information on COVID-19 was the Internet (59.20%) and medical stuff (58.27%), almost in equal measure, followed by traditional media (48.17%) and friends, co-workers, and family members (30.72%).

Receiving COVID-19 information from the Internet and traditional media was positively correlated with anxiety level (p=0.01), while receiving COVID-19 information from medical-stuff was associated with low levels of anxiety (p=0.03).

The sudden changes in daily routine due to the containment measures adopted for facing the COVID-19 pandemic have had an impact on the mental health of the general population. In particular, young adults are exposed to a higher risk compared to the general population to suffer from the consequences of the pandemic, in terms of anger and irritability, depressive symptoms and somatic complaints, insomnia, lack of motivation and loneliness. In particular, loneliness can be particularly pronounced during young adulthood.

This study aimed to describe the levels of loneliness in a sample of Italian young people during the national lockdown in 2020, evaluating clinical and socio-demographic differences and the role of coping strategies and levels of resilience.

A sub-analysis of a sample of adults aged 18-34 years has been drawn on a larger cross-sectional observational national trial (COMET, 2020) in which, among other psychopathological dimensions, the levels of loneliness have been assessed by the UCLA scale short version.

Levels of loneliness were particularly severe in a third of cases (risk factors: unemployment, low income and vulnerability in mental health), in association with depression, anxiety, stress, OCD symptoms, higher rates of suicidal ideation, sleep disturbance and excessive use of Internet. Levels of loneliness tended to increase over time.

Overall, during the Italian COVID-19 lockdown young people have experienced quite high levels of loneliness: this dimension could represent a useful domain to assess in routine clinical practice.
