A delusion is a fixed false belief based on an inaccurate interpretation of an external reality despite evidence to the contrary. The diagnosis of a delusional disorder is made when a person has one or more non-bizarre (situations that are not real but also not impossible) delusional thoughts for one month or more that cannot be explained by any other condition. In patients with delusional disorder, delusions(s) do not impact the functionality and the patient’s behavior is not overtly bizarre. Although delusional core themes tend to be the same throughout different epochs (i.e., persecution, grandiosity, guilt, religion, hypochondria, love, or jealous), clinicians commonly notice how delusions tend to rapidly incorporate popular hot topical issues. Hence, delusions are dynamic and often represent a combination of psychopathology and external events.

The COVID-19 outbreak has affected millions of people globally and it also has a huge psychological impact. The objective of this case report is to outline the possible effect of the COVID-19 pandemic to delusional disorder in patients with healthy person.

The 40-year-old gentleman, a drum major (field commander), married, living with his wife and daughter (4,5 years old). He’s current complaints started when he did not want to have the Covid vaccine in April 2021 and therefore was exposed to mobbing at work. It is understood that the patient had irrevocable ideas about vaccine and PCR testing (radioactive lights were coming out from the PCR rod in a video he watched). For this reason, it is understood during the clinical interview that the patient was exposed to social restrictions at work and in his social life (he could not travel by public transport, plane, bus, and enter social facilities because he did not have a vaccination card or did not have a PCR test).He was admitted to our ward for the purpose of arranging his diagnosis and treatment.

On our ward, the patient showed poor insight with persistence of delusions. The impression was delusinal disorder. He was treated with olanzapine up to 5 mg/day and sertraline up to 100 mg/day, with a progressive resolution of symptoms.

There are other case reports on COVID-19 delusional themes in patients with schizophrenia and patients with no history of mental illness, which means that this phenomenon is not exclusive to affective disorders. In this case, different from the literature, the patient has never had covid. An area of clinical concern is the potential of the pandemic’s psychological context to trigger psychotic disorders and influence their symptomatology. A review of contemporary epidemics and pandemics psychosis research found no evidence of changes in the form and content of psychotic symptoms. Further research should examine those biopsychosocial COVID-related factors that predispose to, precipitate, and perpetuate psychosis.

Schizophrenia is one of the major neuropsychiatric disorders affecting 1% of the population worldwide. Neuroinflammation, neurodevelopment, and oxidative stress are some of the crucial factors that can contribute to the pathogenesis of Schizophrenia. The Klotho gene is an antiaging gene whose dysregulated expression can lead to Schizophrenia and aging-like symptoms in patients. Klotho gene expression is regulated by miRNA- 339, which might lead to expression changes of the klotho gene in schizophrenia patients.

This study aimed to determine the role of miRNA- 339-5p in the regulation of Klotho gene expression and its circulatory levels in Schizophrenia

A total of 60 diagnosed patients with Schizophrenia per ICD 10 study subjects and 30 healthy controls were recruited for this study from the outpatient department of psychiatry of All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Jodhpur. Written informed consent was taken from all the study participants. All participants were given the right to withdraw from the study at any point in time. The institutional ethics committee of AIIMS, Jodhpur, approved this study. The expression analysis of the klotho gene and miRNA – 339-5p was performed using a reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction. The relative fold change expression was calculated by Livaak’s method ( 2^-double delta ct).

In Schizophrenia cases, serum Klotho protein levels were higher than healthy controls, though non-significant. We observed that the klotho gene was upregulated (figure 1), and miRNA- 339- 5p was downregulated (figure 2) compared to the healthy control.

The present study is the first to evaluate the klotho gene expression and correlate it with miRNA- 339- 5p. Our study found increased expression of the klotho gene in Schizophrenia patients as compared to the controls. In this study, we also observed that miRNA- 339- 5p was downregulated, which correlates with the klotho gene expression inversely. However, these are the preliminary findings due to less sample size and need to be replicated in the large sample size for further confirmation.

There is a modest but consistent association between violent behavior and schizophrenia. Persons with schizophrenia are at a modestly increased risk of committing violence ,with approximately half of victims being relatives

Our study examined the factors attributed to violent behaviour within the relationship patient-caregiver in schizophrenia according to caregivers.

This is a cross-sectional study among caregivers of patients with schizophrenia during the period from June to August 2022.Patients who attended our department of psychiatry at the Razi.

The questionnaire was divided into three sections. The first section contained items regarding patient- and caregiver-related information.

In the second section, caregivers were asked questions about their experience of violence perpetration and victimization involving their relative with schizophrenia in the past 12 months.

Beyond frequency, caregivers were also asked to specify, the causes of the violence perpetrated and suffered

The third section contained two measures, i.e. the Depression Anxiety and Stress Scales (DASS-21) and the abridged version of the Zarit Burden Interview (ZBI), assessing psychological distress and caregiving burden, respectively. The protocol of the study was approved by the ethics committee of the Razi Psychiatric Hospital.

The majority of caregivers were females (63.6%), and consisted of patients’ parents (50.9%).

The most endorsed causes of violence victimization were symptoms of illness (57.3%), followed by refusal to adhere to treatment (49.1%), drug reaction (23.6%), and negative events; while the most reported causes of violence perpetration were refusal to adhere to treatment (42.7%), Symptoms of illness (37.3%), and limitation of patients’ activities and/or liberty (32.7%).

Bivariate analysis showed that lower patients’ economic status (p=.042), tobacco (p=.015) and alcohol use (p=.014) as well as taking Trihexyphenidyl (p=.001) were significantly and positively associated with violence perpetration by caregivers against their relatives with schizophrenia.

Multivariable analysis (Logistic regression) revealed that caregivers’ levels of burden remained significantly associated with violence victimization occurrence (p=.026; OR=1.48), while only having other person in charge of caring represented a significant factor associated with perpetration of any form of violence against patients (p=.007; OR=.17).

It is important for medical staffs to provide caregivers with professional knowledge about patients’ real motivation for violence in order to improve their skills of problem-solving.

Addiction Liaison Pychiatric Units are frequently requested by other medical services due to the high prevalence of medical pathologies in substance use disorders. We intend to know patient’s characteristics in order to improve the approach.

To describe patient characteristics of all medical request to the Addiction Liaison Pyshicatric Unit from January 2010 to December 2022.

Study data will be obtained from all patients that were referred to the Addiction Liaison Psychiatric Unit to assess addictive disorders and withdrawal symptoms related to drugs during 12 years in Hospital del Mar (Barcelona, Spain). Demographics and clinical data (substance use, medical comorbidity and dual diagnosis) were obtained.

Anxiety and depressive disorders are major public health problems associated with multiple adverse occupational outcomes, including unemployment, reduced productivity, and absenteeism.

To study the socio-professional and medical characteristics of workers with mixed anxiety -depressive disorders and to evaluate their impact on work ability.

A descriptive and retrospective study conducted in the occupational medicine department at Charles Nicolle Hospital, involving all the medical records of workers suffering from mixed anxiety –depressive disorders that were referred for a medical opinion of fitness for work from January 1, 2014, to December 31, 2020.

The study included 62 females and 20 males diagnosed with mixed anxiety-depressive disorders with a mean age: 41.4± 8 years. The average professional seniority was 12.8 years±7.8 years. The most auspicious occupational sectors for these disorders were health (41%) and communication (30%). Most of these workers (62%) were fit for work with professional restrictions (10 workers to positions with a lower mental load and 20 exclusions from night shift work), though 12% were declared unfit for work temporarily. Twenty-one workers were fit to continue working and one worker was unfitted to work.

The overall prevalence of mixed anxiety –depressive disorders was found to be significantly elevated in female patients (p: <0.001).

The decision of medical fitness for work among workers with psychiatric disorders considers their physical and mental capacities as well as the conditions in which the work is carried out, aiming to annihilate the risk of psychic imbalance. Thus, an adjustment of workstations can be an important determinant in the prevention of psychosocial risks.

Prolactin adenoma, called “prolactinoma” is a benign neoplasm, it is the most common secreting pituitary tumor, and represents up to 40% of all pituitary adenomas. More than 90% are small intrasellar tumors which rarely increase in size.

the problem of management lies in how to stabilize the patient on a psychiatric level without increasing the level of prolactin.

We report the case of a young woman who presented a comorbid schizophrenia with a prolactinoma. We will try through this clinical vignette to study the different pillars of management of such pathologies.

This is Mrs. N. Q., 39 years old She is single, an engineer but currently without a profession, from an average socio-economic level of a teacher father and a housewife mother. She is the 3rd of his siblings of 6 . She is currently hospitalized at Ar-razi Tanger hospital for treatment of decompensation of her chronic psychotic disorder. The patient would have been born following a premature delivery of 34 weeks. For her antecedent, she was followed for asthma since her childhood. Her mother and her maternal grandfather would have been psychotic. The history of the disease dates back to 2017. The patient suffered from headaches resistant to any treatment. The patient would have consulted a neurologist. Magnetic resonance brain imaging would have been requested, which objectified at the left latero-pituitary level a lesional process of 7 mm discretely intense in T2, hypo-intense in T1 and not enhanced by Gd reflecting a pituitary micro adenoma. The patient was put on Cabergoline (Dostinex®). So the psychiatric symptomatology dates back to the end of 2019, by behavioral problems, social withdrawal, she will have stopped all professional activity. At the same time, she will have stopped all medication (Cabergoline). In 2020, the patient would have been hospitalized for the first time at the Ar-razi Tangier psychiatric hospital. The diagnosis of schizophrenia was retained according to the DSM 5 criteria. After a stay of 5 weeks, the patient would be stabilized on olanzapine 20mg/d. Currently, and following non-compliance with treatment (because of adverse effects such as amenorrhea and galactorrhea), the patient has returned, suffering from a relapse, justifying her second hospitalization. During his stay, a check-up would have been requested to show hyperprolactinemia 3 times normal. We therefore switched to Aripiprazole.

We have proposed an approach to the management of patients with comorbid schizophrenia and prolactinoma, an approach that balances the benefits and risks of managing the psychiatric stability of the patient on antipsychotics with the management of prolactinoma and symptoms. of hyperprolactinemia.

The clinical features of juvenile fibromyalgia were first described by Yunus & Masi in 1985. In the US, it is estimated that about 6% of adolescents between 15 and 19 years of age suffer from juvenile fibromyalgia. However, this entity remains “a poorly defined disorder”, being excluded from the main diagnostic classification systems.

The goal of our work is to present and discuss a case-based review of juvenile fibromyalgia.

We present a case of chronic pain in pediatric age, referred to a multidisciplinary chronic pain consultation. Through the analysis of this case, we review the concept of juvenile fibromyalgia and its pathophysiology, the risk factors, the diagnostic criteria, the recent evidence for the treatment of these cases and the prognosis of this disorder.

We describe the case of an 11-year-old female, who presented with widespread musculoskeletal pain, headaches, and sleep disturbances for a period over 3 months. At physical examination no significant alterations were found except for pain at palpation of the referred pain locations and at palpation of 11 typical fibromyalgia tender points. Complementary diagnostic exams were normal. The patient was referred to a multidisciplinary chronic pain consultation and was prescribed pharmacological therapy with antidepressants and a gabapentinoid and non-pharmacological therapy with a plan of physical exercises and psychotherapy.

This case report demonstrates the importance of considering juvenile fibromyalgia in the differential diagnosis of pain in pediatric age, showing also the complexity involved in the assessment and treatment of these cases. This case also highlights the importance of multidisciplinary collaboration in the management of chronic pain.

Thyroid disorders can present with psychiatric symptons similar to depression, and, at the same time, certain treatments, like litio, can cause changes in thyroid function. Given, therefore, the importance for the treatment and care of patients, the study of thyroid function is one of the parametres that should be requested in patients with psychiatric pathology.

To study the frequency of thyroid disorders in patients who where admitted to a psychiatric short stay unit.

Retrospective descriptive observational study is carried out in the acute stay unit of a psychiatric hospital. As a sample, all patients admitted to the unit over a period of three months. During admission, their sociodemographic data, the treatment they receive and their diagnosis are recorded. Secondly, blood test are performed whith differents parameters, including TSH values.

In the total sample of 172 patients, 8 of them have TSH abnormalities. 7 of them, all women, present hypothyroidism values.

A single male patient presented values of hyperthryroidism.

According to the present study, 4,6% of the patients present alterations at the TSH at admission, although except in one case, the values were not markedly altered.

The thyroid study at admission allows detecting cases of altered TSH that are amenable to treatment and monitoring.

Each year the European Psychiatric Association offers early career psychiatrists the opportunity to take part in the Gaining Experience programme, a scholarship that funds short observership placements (between 2 and 8 weeks) overseas in different psychiatric institutions across Europe to ECPs who have completed their psychiatric training. However, since COVID-19 was declared by the WHO as a worldwide emergency on 11th March 2020, it was no longer possible to provide offline overseas observerships. Therefore, the Gaining Experience programme changed its format in 2020-2021 and became virtual. It was in this context, that an Ukranian early career psychiatrist was going to participate in the virtual Gaining Experience programme at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience, King’s College London (United Kingdom) from December 2021. The observership placement had a particular academic focus, the essence of which was investigating psychotherapy training among ECPs in Ukraine, and to examine how it is included in psychiatry training. The sharing of this example of virtual observership shows that it is possible and feasible high-quality and affordable distance learning for ECPs. This training format can be useful not only during quarantine restrictions, but also in conditions of limited travel opportunities.

Clinical evidence supports the interaction between genetic predisposition and environmental stressors on the emergence of positive psychotic symptoms. Childhood trauma might be a modifiable risk factor among adults with serious mental illness.

The aim of our study was to investigate associations between childhood trauma (physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, emotional neglect, and physical neglect) and symptoms of schizophrenia.

We included in our study 33 stabilized inpatients with schizophrenia at the Psychiatry C department at University Hospital in Sfax-Tunisia.

Data on Sociodemographic and clinical variables were collected from medical records.

Psychotic symptoms were evaluated using the Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS). We used the Childhood Trauma Questionnaire-Short Form (CTQ-SF) to evaluate childhood trauma experiences.

Our sample was exclusively composed of men with an average age of 35 years and 4 months.

The majority of patients were unemployed (75.8%). Only 6.1% of them were married.

Among the patients included in the study, 15.2% of our patients were illiterate. The majority of subjects were treated after a period of untreated psychosis (65.5%).

The analysis revealed that 42.4% of our patients experienced childhood adversities with mean CTQ-SF total score 35.48 (SD=9.44)

We found that positive and general psychopathology schizophrenia symptomatology were correlated to Childhood abuse (0.03; 0.004), emotional abuse (0.009; 0.004), physical neglect (0.02; 0.01), and emotional neglect (0.01).

In addition, our analysis showed that only emotional abuse lead to more negative schizophrenia symptomatology (p=0.009).*

Several studies have shown an association between childhood trauma and specific symptoms of psychosis. Therefore, Childhood trauma should be considered and inquired about in the course of clinical care of schizophrenia patients.

Treatment-resistant depression (TRD) is the failure to accomplish and/or achieve remission after an adequate trial of different classes of antidepressant treatments. TRD presents with significant disability and high prevalence. It results in a substantive socio-economic burden at the community and global levels. TRD. Studies comparing pharmacotherapy and electroconvulsive therapy with repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) have demonstrated evidence in support of the therapeutic efficacy of rTMS in TRD.

This comprehensive scoping review aimed to explore and garner information in the literature regarding the crucial role of rTMS and its therapeutic efficacy as a treatment modality for TRD.

Electronic data searches in PubMed, PsycINFO, Medline, Embase, and Cinahl were conducted to identify important articles on rTMS for TRD. The data search strategy was limited to articles written in English and published within the last five years, to the date of the data search (February 2022). Articles were reviewed if they reported on a completed randomized controlled trial of rTMS treatment in TRD. Articles were excluded if they were protocols of rTMS on TRD and studies with rTMS for the treatment of conditions other than TRD. The review process was reported using the PRISMA Extension for Scoping Reviews (PRISMA-ScR).

In total, 17 studies met the eligibility criteria for this review. The geographical breakdown of the extracted studies consisted of North America (n = 9), Europe (n = 5), Asia (n = 2), and Australia (n = 1). The frequencies of rTMS applied in the various studies ranged from 5 Hz to 50 Hz, with stimulation intensities ranging from 80% MT to 120% MT. Overall, 16 out of the 17 studies demonstrated evidence that suggested rTMS treatment was effective, safe, and tolerated in the management of patients with TRD.

Overall, rTMS appeard to provide significant therapeutic benefits for patients with TRD through the reduction of depressive symptoms. However, while there is progressive evidence in support of rTMS in TRD, more research is needed to define the standardized protocols of rTMS application in terms of localization, frequency, intensity, and pulse parameters to realize its full potency in TRD.

Hair loss is a common clinical complaint, resulting from a wide variety of causes, a variety of medications prescribed to treat mental diseases may contribute to hair loss.

As far as we know, no previously published reports of alopecia associated with quetiapine were identified in Morocco.

Through this work we will try to expose the first case having this undesirable effect in our context, next to the rare cases in the literature.

This article describes the experience of a 37-year-old male developing diffuse alopecia associated with use of quetiapin and recovering after cessation of the medicament is presented, besides presenting some rare cases that were found and described in other studies.

Among these psychotropic agents, this side effect is most often reported with the use of valproic acid and lithium It has been also reported with the atypical antipsychotic medicines olanzapine and risperidone, but only rare cases were reported in relation to quetiapine, In this paper, a 37-year-old male patient developing diffuse alopecia associated with use of quetiapine and recovering after cessation of the medicament is presented.

The results of this study are the first known in morocco, establishing a relationship between hair loss and the use of quetiapine will be taken in consideration while prescriping this medicine. These results confirm the relatively new idea of the impact of quetiapine on hair loss, unlike older studies which suggested good tolerance of this molecule.

The COVID pandemic caused an unprecedented public health crisis and adversely impacted children’s well-being. It has negatively affected children’s mental health due to social isolation, human losses, and remote learning. Our goal is to learn about the challenges and factors that these children and young adults face upon returning to school and college, which could further decline their mental health. We also need to understand parents’ concerns about this transition to a back-to-school routine.

1) To learn about the mental health challenges for children, adolescents, and young adults returning to school after the beginning of the COVID pandemic.

2) To identify the factors and challenges that parents and caregivers face during the COVID regarding the return of their children to school.

We conducted a literature search using relevant medical subject heading (MeSH) terms in PubMed, PubMed Central, Web of Science, and Medline databases. We identified all published relevant articles until June 4, 2021. After a thorough review of relevant published articles until October 30, 2022, we included 5 articles in our qualitative synthesis.

A cross-sectional study in China measured depression, anxiety, and social support in back-to-school students via PHQ-9, GAD-7, and SSQ, respectively. They found a significant rise in anxiety and depression among these students. This correlation was weak at higher social support. Data collected from 15 children’s hospitals found that students want to participate actively in returning to school and the recovery process as they are concerned about their future, family, and society. Another 2021 cross-sectional study in Texas revealed that parents are concerned about their children’s health and prefer an onsite-virtual hybrid learning setup over in-person learning (Limbers C. A. et al. The Journal of school health 2021; 91(1), 3–8.). Parents in Italy favored school reopening with reduced student numbers (70.1%), social distancing within classes (45.3%), and masks as they were concerned about their children due to COVID (Pierantoni, L et al. 2021; Acta paediatrica (Oslo, Norway : 1992), 110(3), 942–943 ). Fewer White parents were supportive of a mask mandate for students and staff members (62.5%) than parents of ethnicities like Hispanic (79.5%, p= 0.026) and other racial/ethnic groups (66.9%, p = 0.041) (Gilbert, L. K. et al. MMWR. Morbidity and mortality weekly report 2020; 69(49), 1848–1852).

The return to school after COVID is challenging for students and parents due to the rise in anxiety and depression in children. Social support has been found to be protective of children’s mental health. Future well-designed studies should identify challenges and factors that can help safeguard children’s mental health and develop appropriate policies.

The health impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has been widely recognized in both physical and mental health. Relatively little attention has been paid to patients with delusional disorder (DD).

Our goal was to synthesize the known mental and physical health consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic in patients diagnosed with DD.

A systematic review was carried out using the PubMed and Scopus database (2019-October 2022) following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) statement. Search terms: “delusional disorder” or “delusional disorder” AND “COVID-19 OR SARS-CoV2.” Inclusion criteria: 1)DD according to DSM/ICD, 2)languages: English, French, German and Spanish, 3)studies reporting health consequences of COVID-19 pandemic. From a total of 615 records, 6 were included: meta-analysis (n=1), cross-sectional studies (n=2), retrospective study (n=1), case reports (n=2).

A full third of patients with psychosis (including DD) presented with increased psychiatric symptom severity, reportedly activated by increased daily life stress. Suicidal behavior was reported in a previously undiagnosed DD patient in association with a worsening clinical picture. Perhaps surprisingly, admissions for DD in 2020 were lower than in 2019. The duration of hospitalization was, however, longer. There was a report of new onset DD with delusional material centred on COVID. There was also a report of COVID-19 symptoms being more severe in DD patients than in the larger community.

Health emergencies affect the seriously mentally ill more than other community members. Awareness and outreach can help to maintain treatment adherence and minimize risk of psychotic exacerbation.

There is a paucity of population-based longitudinal studies examining the associations between childhood behavioural problems and alcohol use disorders in later life.

This study aimed to examine the association between hyperactivity/inattention problems in early adolescence and the risk of alcohol use disorders in young adulthood.

We used data from the Avon Longitudinal Study of Parents and Children (ALSPAC), a population-based prospective cohort based in Bristol, United Kingdom. Hyperactivity/inattention problems at 11 years of age were measured using the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ). Logistic regression analyses were used to examine associations. E-values (E) were calculated to estimate the extent of unmeasured confounding.

Hyperactivity/ inattention problems in early adolesce were associated with a 1.75-fold increased risk of any alcohol use disorders (OR = 1.75, 95% CI: 1.20-2.56; E= 2.90, CI: 1.69) and a 4-fold increased risk of severe alcohol use disorders at age 24 (OR = 4.35, 95% CI: 2.00 – 9.47; E= 8.17, CI: 3.58). We also found a 2.09 (OR = 2.09, 95 % CI: 1.24-3.53; E= 3.60, CI: 1.79) and 1.63-fold (OR = 1.63, 95% CI: 1.07 – 2.49; E= 2.64, CI: 1.34) increased risk of alcohol dependence symptoms and alcohol abuse symptoms at age 24 in offspring who had hyperactivity problems at age 11, respectively.

Hyperactivity/ inattention problems in early adolesce were associated with an increased risk of alcohol use disorder symptoms in adulthood, even when controlling for conduct problems. Associations did not appear to differ by gender and unmeasured or unknown confounders were unlikely to alter the observed associations.

The increasing prevalence of cannabis use in the world requires awareness of cannabis-related disorders such as cannabinoid hyperemesis syndrome (CHS). CHS is characterized by cyclic episodes of nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain, affecting chronic cannabis users, who usually recur to hot showers to relief the symptoms. The pathophysiology underlying this syndrome is still unclear. Despite the well-established anti-emetic properties of cannabis, there is increasing evidence of its paradoxical effects on the gastrointestinal tract and central nervous system.

The authors pretend to inform the readers about the rare Cannabinoid Hyperemesis Syndrome (CHS).

The authors describe a case of a 22 years old patient with chronic cannabis use, cyclic and intractable nausea and vomiting, to bring to the attention that this condition exists and is underdiagnosed.

CHS should be strongly considered in the differential diagnosis of persistent vomiting in patients who reports relief with hot showers. In the acute setting, supportive care with intravenous fluids, dopamine antagonists, topical capsaicin cream, and avoidance of narcotic medications has shown some benefit. However, cannabis cessation appears to be the best treatment.

CHS prevalence will continue to rise in parallel with increasing worldwide cannabis use and potency. So, health professionals must be aware of this syndrome, its diagnosis, and treatment, to provide better care and avoid overlooking CHS. Further research is required to elicit the exact mechanism and additional therapies for this condition.

Since the appearance of long-acting antipsychotics (LAPAs) and given the high frequency of non-adherence to treatment in psychotic disorders, LAPAs have recognized a resurgence of interest in the psychiatric literature. These long-acting drugs may pose ethical issues (e.g. limitation of freedom).

The present study aims to determine the representations of long-acting antipsychotics in patients followed at Arrazi Hospital in Salé.

Descriptive study carried out with patients hospitalized at the Arrazi hospital in Salé and those followed in consultation who are on APAP or who have already used it. The collection of information is done using an exploitation sheet

N-Methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptors are involved in learning and memory. It is known that ventral hippocampus is a crucial structure involved in emotional memory formation mainly for fear and anxiety situations. The aim of this research is to identify the effect of the stimulation of ventral hipocampal NMDA receptors on the reextinction of an aversive emotional memory task. NMDA (0.2 ug/μl; 0.2 μl) or saline (0.9 %; 0.2 μl) was bilateral and locally administered in the ventral hippocampus of male Wistar rats, before the re-instatement trial.

The experimental group consisted of 10 animals and the control group by 9 subjects. The results suggest that the activation of ventral hipocampal NMDA receptors induces an increase in the time needed to re-extinguish the conditioned fear, suggesting a possible potentiating effect on re-installation.

To evaluate the effect of NMDA at the intrahippocampal level, on the reinstatement and re extinction of a conditioned fear response in male Wistar rats.

This study is experimental, where two groups of adult male Wistar rats were used. The bilateral cannulas was implanted, the animals were injected intraperitoneally with a mixture of ketamine (Rotexmédica) and xylacin (Bayer; 75 mg/Kg and 5 mg/Kg), respectively, then the animals were placed in a stereotaxic apparatus (Narishige) and injected with veterinary antibiotic.The (21G) caliber cannulas were bilaterally implanted in HPv at the following coordinates: AP = -5.2 mm relative to Bregma; ML = ± 5 mm in relation to the midline and DV = 5.1 mm in relation to the skull and according to the atlas (Paxinos & Watson, 1985).

It was observed that in the first phase of extinction there were no statistically significant differences between the two groups, experimental and control, as in the second phase of extinction. The results obtained for the re-extinction phase 1 and 2 showed that there were significant statistical differences between the groups. This difference was only evident in the first three minutes in the two phases of re-extinction.

Statistically significant differences were observed between the two groups, in the phases of re-extinction, seeing a longer time of the freezing response in the experimental group, as an effect of the application of NMDA in the ventral hippocampus (HPv), which suggests that this substance has a memory-enhancing effect, and therefore contributes to increasing the permanence of the fear response. It should be noted that this difference was only evident in the first three minutes in the two re-extinction phases. These results may be related to other studies where it has been shown that LTP is dependent on the N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor in the CA1 region in vivo (Zhong, Cherry, Bies, Florence, & Gerges, 2009)

Between January and May 2022, more than 78,248 complaints were registered in Brazil, involving children and adolescents in situations of abuse. (Ministry of Women, Family and Human Rights, 2022). Childhood maltreatment includes all forms of physical, emotional, sexual abuse or neglect. Literature has shown that individuals who are victims of abuse have more difficulties with social skills than their peers.

Quantitatively evaluate the social skills of adolescent victims of abuse.

Six adolescents between 12 and 17 years old participated in the study. The assessment of social communication skills was performed using the Social Skills Rating Scale (SSRS) protocol. At the time of data analysis, the following variables were taken into account: gender of the participants and type of abuse suffered, as stated in their medical records.

Male participants showed a better overall performance in social skills than female participants. However, this second group scored higher on assertiveness and empathy skills. Regarding the type of abuse, in both genders, victims of sexual abuse and neglect showed better results than those who suffered only neglect. The results are described in more detail in images 1 and 2.Table 1.

Adolescents who are victims of abuse have considerable difficulties with social skills, which can impact the performance of their basic day-to-day activities. More studies about the impacts of mistreatments on the development of social skills are needed.
