Since its emergence at the end of 2019, the COVID-19 virus has spread worldwide. In Spain, mandatory home confinement was established on March 15, 2020, and lasted 99 days. Previous studies on events that required isolation situations suggest a worsening in the mental health of general population, and in particular, of especially vulnerable groups such as individuals with severe mental disorder (SMD).

The aim of this study is to evaluate the psychological effect (anxiety and depression) of confinement in patients with SMD and to study the dissimilarities among the different diagnostic groups.

In this study, assessments were performed using the IDER and STAI questionnaires, in order to evaluate symptoms of depression and anxiety, respectively. The evaluations were carried out in patients who had required at least one admission to the Psychiatric Hospitalization Unit of the University Hospital of Basurto. The Shapiro-Wilk test was used to verify the normality of the sample. ANOVA test was used to study differences among diagnostic groups. Posteriorly, Bonferroni correction was performed.

95 participants completed the IDER questionnaire, obtaining a mean score of 24.56 (SD=8.18) for the state and 23.57 (SD=8.14) for the trait. In the STAI questionnaire, a mean score of 27.86 (SD=15.19) was obtained for the state and 30.49 (SD=14.71) for the trait. ANOVA test indicated presence of differences among groups. However, differences did not persist after Bonferroni correction.

Increased levels of anxiety and depression were found in the sample studied with respect to the general population.No statistically significant differences were found among different disgnostic groups. Further studies should be performed in order to increase the knowledge around this research area.

Considering the development of this study, we selected cases where art therapy played a central role in the educational/therapeutic process. Studied 130-150 cases per year on average, for 25 years (1996-2021), including children and adolescents aged between 2 and 18 years of both sexes, different social backgrounds in terms of housing, culture, and education: education/ clinical art therapy ( Mental Health Center for Children and Adolescents ward of the Cluj-Napoca Children’s Emergency Hospital) and non-clinical education/art-therapy.

The activities also have components of artistic creation, research, and teaching with students, within the disciplines “Art therapy in institutional contexts” and “Artistic play and experiment in group dynamics”, within the University of Art and Design section Pedagogy of Plastic and Decorative Arts from Cluj-Napoca Romania. The results are published at the international and world congresses to which we were invited together with the practitioners under supervision.

The aims of occupational therapy, which include art therapy and play therapy, are to facilitate the use of creative process and symbolic communication, associated with narrative and imitation, to develop new ways of communication, self-expression and seeing things.

We use materials and techniques that are specific to visual arts (painting, sculpture, graphic, multimedia, photography, film, animation, and digital media), but also traditional ones, specific to tridimensional arts, such as pottery wheels and sculptural modeling. Activities are structured according to the following dimensions:

• • The making of art or the production of other crafts resembles a situation test

• • The analysis of the products allows the beneficiaries to attain a certain level of introspection and to “work through” their problems in constructive manner

• • The execution of an operation requires sensory, cognitive, and affective intervention;

• • Psychological dimensions, which include the individual’s intrinsic need for self-improvement, for obtaining competence and self-knowledge;

• • The socio-cultural and symbolic dimension of the act;

• • The spiritual dimension, related to the meaning of the occupation for the individual;

• • The temporal dimensions of the occupation (referring to the time or period of time required for recovery).

By interacting with these factors, the individual gets to know his own potential and limits, but also those of the environment in which he lives.

A need arose to divert patients with psychiatric complaints from the emergency department to alternative settings for psychiatric assessments to reduce footfall and to conduct consultations in a timely manner during COVID-19.

We assessed the effectiveness of alternative referral pathway in reducing COVID-19 infection in our service, and its effect on service quality: response time and number of patients leaving before review. We evaluated the satisfaction of patients, General Practitioners (GPs) and mental health service (MHS) staff with the pathway.

All patients referred to the mental health service over a 2-month period following the introduction of the pathway were included. Findings were compared against the cohort referred for emergency assessment during the same period in 2019. Feedback surveys were distributed to patients, staff and GPs. χ ² and independent sample t-test were used to compare the variables.

Over 2 months, 255 patients received an emergency assessment via the pathway, representing a 22.3% decrease in the volume of presentations from the same period in 2019. There were no COVID-19 cases among our patients or staff on the roster for assessing patients. In comparison to 2019, response times were improved (p<0.001), and the numbers of patients who left the hospital before the review were reduced by 3.2% during the study period (p<0.001). Patients and GPs were highly satisfied with the referral pathway and believed that the pathway should be retained post-COVID-19. Mental health service staff were divided in their opinions about its sustainability.

The pathway was successful in reducing the spread of infection, improving response times and reducing the numbers of patients who left without an assessment. Given the improved outcomes and acceptability, this is a preferable pathway for emergency referrals into the future.

Evidence suggests that the media plays an important role in shaping public beliefs and attitudes towards mental illness and people with mental illness. On the one hand, holistic and balanced portrayals that focus on treatments and recovery can help reduce stigma and prejudice by increasing knowledge and understanding. On the other hand, sensational and one-dimensional portrayals can create and perpetuate stigmas and stereotypes, which can contribute to prejudice, fear and social exclusion.

Related research indicates that the media can also influence suicidal behaviour. On the one hand, research indicates an increase in suicide mortality following romanticized, sensational and detailed media coverage of a suicide (the Werther effect). On the other hand, emerging research indicates a decrease in suicidal mortality following media coverage focused on suicide prevention, available resources and hopeful narratives (the Papageno effect).

This presentation will discuss an ongoing national action-research project that has been continuously funded since 2010, which aims to decrease inaccurate and stigmatizing coverage, while increasing hopeful and recovery-oriented coverage, in relation to mental illness and suicide. This will include discussion of (i) longitudinal results from a media monitoring project, examining coverage of mental illness from 2010 to the present; (ii) various educational initiatives targeted at journalists and journalism schools during the project; and (iii) an innovative citizen journalism programme aiming to produce alternative positive portrayals.

This presentation will be highly-relevant to people wanting to learn more about media coverage of mental health and suicide, and especially pertinent to people interested in conducting similar research elsewhere.

According to domestic and foreign studies, in the last decade there has been an increase in the number of HIV-infected patients suffering from alcoholic disease. Under the influence of alcohol, the risk of infection and transmission of HIV infection increases, the course of the disease worsens. There is a syndemia between alcohol abuse and HIV infection. This requires new approaches to the tactics of managing patients of a narcological hospital with HIV infection.

To identify the prevalence of HIV infection in patients of the substance use treatment facility suffering from alcohol disease of the second stage.

The authors analyzed 446 medical histories of patients suffering from alcoholic disease who underwent inpatient treatment in 2009-2021. For data processing, a statistical method for calculating relative indicators used.

The study showed that a significant proportion of patients with HIV infection were patients of working age 40-59 years. At the same time, since 2009, there has been an increase in HIV-infected patients from the total number of hospital patients. So, if in 2009 they were 1.2%, then in 2021 they were already 7.2%. Most HIV-infected patients of the narcological hospital are single or divorced. The study notes that abuse is common among patients with HIV infection as a means of combating depression. According to 2019 data, 39.0% of hospital patients suffer from depression. The authors show that alcohol affects the increase in risky forms of sexual relations, or risky situations with unprotected sex. In addition, with alcohol abuse, the viral load increases, and therefore the likelihood of transmitting HIV infection to a partner with unprotected sex increases.

Alcohol abuse is a causative factor in HIV infection. Early detection of people with harmful alcohol consumption and referral to a psychiatrist will increase adherence to antiretroviral therapy, as well as reduce the rate of HIV infection

Cognitive (dys)function after ECT is often considered as a homogeneous phenomenon across patients. However, there are important inter-individual differences, with some patients experiencing residual invalidating cognitive deficits. We present the results of a study combining both group-level and individual-level analyses of cognitive function using an extensive cognitive test battery that was assessed in 73 patients at 5 time points during their ECT care pathway. Furthermore, we explored the presence of distinct subgroups of patients with a similar cognitive trajectory over time after treatment with ECT using Latent Class Growth Analysis.

The locus of control is associated with a variety of psychological concepts, theories and researches, including learned helplessness, which is explained in way that person has learned to act helpless even when they actually have control over their situation or the ability to change a circumstance or outcome. In this scientific work, the aim is to examine the corelation between the locus of control and stress coping strategies in a group of health care workers. A sample is 110 respondents, of different age, gender, ages and educational degrees.

In this research, the aim is to examine the connection between locus of control and coping strategies among healthcare workers during the Covid-19 epidemic. The research results showed that there are no statistically significant differences in the relationship between stress coping strategies and locus of control in relation to men and women and age. Also, there is a statistically significant difference in the stress coping strategy focused on avoidance in relation to the locus of control, i.e. it turned out that the coping strategy focused on avoidance is more pronounced in respondents with an internal locus of control than in those with an external locus of control.

The research was conducted at the Clinical Center of Montenegro, in Podgorica, in March 2022, through an online program, due to the epidemiological situation. The sample consists of 110 respondents, of both sexes and aged from 20 to 65 years old, who were chosen by the method of random selection. The CISS and RI-E scales were used.

The research showed that there is a connection between the locus of control and strategies for overcoming stress, but that there are no statistically significant differences in the connection between strategies for overcoming stress and locus of control in relation to men and women and their age, as well as that there is a statistically significant difference in the strategy coping with stress focused on avoidance in relation to locus of control, i.e. it was shown that the coping strategy focused on avoidance is more pronounced in respondents with an internal locus of control than in those with an external locus of control.

The effect of psychotropic drugs on sexuality is difficult to evaluate because psychiatric disorders are frequently accompanied by sexual dysfunction, independently of any drug intake. However, the iatrogenic aspects of psychotropic drugs linked to their side effects should not be underestimated since they are an important cause of treatment discontinuation.

The aim is to show the type of sexual impairment observed according to the different psychotropic drugs used and the means to remedy it. Psychiatric disorders are accompanied by sexual dysfunctions which can be aggravated by psychotropic drugs, and the associated risk factors can be sought or aggravate this undesirable effect.

This is a cross-sectional study, concerning patients followed at ArRazi hospital under antipsychotic treatment. We used the “International Index of Erectile Dysfunction” scale, and the data were analyzed by SPSS software.

Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a debilitating disorder affecting approximately 6% of the population. Current treatments have been shown to efficaciously reduce symptom burden between 30%-50%. However, due to the high intensity of treatment over a long period of time. drop-out rates are as high as 50%.

Assess the effect of one-time ketamine infusion in subanasthetic dosage on PTSD psychotherapy

Assess feasibility and effect of massed, four days, esposure focused psychotherapy for PTSd

Here, we tested the efficacy of a four-day exposure and processing-focused psychotherapy at reducing PTSD severity. Twenty-seven participants with chronic PTSD were randomized to two groups, one receiving a one-time infusion of ketamine in a subanesthetic dose (0.5mg/kg for 40 minutes), the other receiving midazolam. Both groups underwent four 90-120 minutes of daily psychotherapy sessions a day after infusion, followed by in-vivo exposure practice. The severity of PTSD was assessed with the PCL-5 before and at the end of treatment, and at 30 and 90 days follow-up. Brain reactivation to the trauma reminders was measured using fMRI

PTSD severity in both treatment groups decreased by 13, 16, and 15 points on the PCL-5 at the end of treatment, 30 days follow-up, and 90 days respectively, surpassing the minimum clinical difference of 7.9 points. There was no significant difference in symptom reductions between the treatment groups. However, brain reactivation to trauma stories differed between the groups, with the ketamine group showing a decline in the amygdala and hippocampus reactivation compared to the midazolam group, at the end of treatment.

Our results imply comparable efficacy of this short-term intervention to standard trauma-focused psychotherapies, emphasizing its clinical usefulness as a short and effective intervention.

Schizophrenia (SCZ) is a chronic neuropsychiatric disorder possessing a multifactorial nature and dual facets of symptoms with a core underlying genetic mechanism that is still obscure. Lately, genomic studies revealed numerous single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) that are non-coding and influence ribonucleic acid (RNA) expression, particularly its splicing.

Considering that next-generation sequencing (NGS) protocols focus upon long-read sequencing as opposed to conventional RNA sequencing methodologies once with the advent of Oxford Nanopore Technologies’ (ONT) MinION, we primarily aimed to gather and review all evidence into how this approach may deepen and further offer insight into SCZ still undiscovered domain.

The relevant literature searches were performed using distinct combinations of keywords including “schizophrenia” alongside „Nanopore”, “MinION”, and “Oxford Nanopore Technologies” on four databases (PubMed/Medline, ISI Web of Knowledge, Scopus, and ScienceDirect). We implied the entries to strictly “research articles” written in English as inclusion criteria.

By restricting the returned results starting with the year when the platform was officially launched, a total of n = 69 studies were displayed between the pre-established interval (2014 – 2022). If taken per database, n = 2 were identified in PubMed/Medline, n = 7 in ISI Web of Knowledge, n = 4 in Scopus, and n = 56 in ScienceDirect. In chronological order, n = 0 were published in 2014, n = 3 in 2015, n = 7 in 2016, n = 7 in 2017, n = 9 in 2018, n = 3 in 2019, n = 7 in 2020, n = 19 in 2021 and n = 14 in 2022. Based on my experience, I do not see any probability that coordination/direction will be achieved at the same time as symmetry in participation. Knowledge is power, said Foucault, so I must divest myself of my knowledge in order not to have power, and that power be executed by each of the participants with her own life.

It is in this process that I have been going through, it makes me think to what extent one makes the effort, I have made the effort not to be in the place of excluding the other, the other sick, of segregating him, as if to feel that I have a place of healing, the other must be someone who is the object of being healed. We have the possession of knowledge, to give light to others, in this disciplinary society, of disciplining in prison institutions, as Foucault would say, prisons, hospitals, army.

In this group work, multi-family, we must go to the singularity of the participants, to make them stand out, to get out and overcome the need for those relatives, who prevent them from growing and thawing, and roughly, hold on and take out the healthy virtuality , but that does not mean that we will achieve, even if we get out of the stereotyping and the sickening circle, that we have arrived at what is healthy, because in some way it will end up being just the way in which we look at what is healthy.

In this process, not only do the participants change, but we do too, because otherwise, we would be in a stereotype, regarding our role and the institution itself.

The mentally ill is not only a justification of families, but of society itself, and that other, that other excluded, will be determined by the historical period itself, and social context, the sick of today were not those of the past nor will they be those of the future.

This presentation is titled " Case scenarios 1: Trauma based approach: from instability to stability". You will be given a case based oriented insight into the relationship between substance use disorder and forced displacement and treatment options that are based upon the trauma some has been experienced. A focus will be on factors that contribute on psychological stability in extreme situations. Thus you will be presented preliminary results of our ongoing study funded by the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences and Humanities that dedicated to the question of how mental stability and health-related quality of life of individuals change over time.

We present the case of a 43 year-old woman that, following the sudden death of his brother in 2015, begins with symptoms of anxiety, irritability and emotional instability, with a tendency to social isolation. Thereafter, she starts the development of persecutory delusions focused on the work and family environment that evolve into inappropriate behaviors to the point of abandoning her professional life.

(1) We will carry out a complete review about persecutory delusions and its relationship with affective disorders, based on the severity of our patient’s case.

(2) We will study the different lines of treatment in delusional disorder (DD) and its course and prognosis in relation to the intervention performed.

A review of the patient’s history will be conducted, taking into account her biography, clinical evolution and response to the treatments received.

Likewise, a bibliographic review of the available scientific literature in relation to DD treatment strategies will be carried out.

(1) DD is more common in middle-aged women. People who tend to be socially isolated are more likely to develop DD.

(2) Acute onset, in young women with identifiable precipitating factors, suggests a better prognosis.

(3) In the long term, 50% of patients recover and a further 20% experience some improvement.

(4) The combination of antipsychotic medications and psychological therapies such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is fundamental in the management of DD patients.

The prognosis for patients with DD varies depending on various factors, including the type and severity of the delusional ideas, and their own life circumstances. It is often possible to eliminate the behavioral alterations derived from the DD, allowing the patient to function normally. However, delusions often persist and become encapsulated.

Mental health in the workplace is a rapidly developing field of research, which involves the well-being of the individual on a psychological and social level. However, this balance can be suddenly disrupted and can have such a repercussion that the individual finds himself unable to do his job. In this case, he can benefit from a work stoppage called long term sick leave, governed for the public sector, by the decree number 59-239 of August 24, 1959.

To study the socio-demographic and clinical profile of public sector employees who have been on long-term sick leave and examined as part of the assessment of their ability to work.

It is a retrospective study that focused on all public sector employees on long-term sick leave, examined as part of the evaluation of their ability to work in the psychiatric service CHU MAHDIA during the period from January 2013 to April 2014.

We collected 73 patients. The mean age at the time of the examination was 51.1 years. There was a clear female predominance 67% and the sex ratio was 0.48. The vast majority were married (71%), of average socioeconomic status (52%) and high school level (43%). Most of the patients (67%) were from the Ministry of Public Health, followed by the Ministry of Education with 26% of the study population. The average length of service was 20.4 years with extremes between 3 and 36 years. The average length of leave was 13 months. The most frequent diagnosis of the prescribing physician was adaptation disorder (41%), major depressive disorder (27%). Somatic comorbidity was found in 38% of cases, dominated by hypertension, diabetes and cervicarthritis in 50%, 28% and 18% respectively. At the end of the leave, 82% of the patients were able to return to work. For the other patients, a professional reclassification was necessary.

Long-term sick leave has a heavy economic burden for society and serious socio-economic and psychological repercussions on the patient. Hence the interest in identifying vulnerable subjects and jobs at risk in order to prevent the occurrence of psychopathological disorders.

Traditionally, psychiatric wards had established a “locked door” policy but secluded conditions may increase patient’s discomfort1 that could affect the perception of health quality of care2. Recently, the “open-door” policy is being adopted in several European countries but its impact on patient satisfaction remains unknown (Schreiber, LK. BMC Psychiatry. 2019 May 14;19(1):149). Since 2019 our psychiatric hospital has implemented the open-door policy.

The aim of this study is to investigate the impact of the “open-door” policy on patient satisfaction during their stay in the acute inpatient unit of our psychiatric hospital.

This is an observational study. Prior to the implementation of the open door policy 31 patient satisfaction data was collected between October 2018 to April 2019 and it was also assessed with 31 subjects between July to October 2019, after the implementation of the open “door-policy”. The inclusion criteria were being >18 years old, reading Spanish correctly and with a length of stay >72 hours. The patients with dementia disorder and intellectual disability where excluded from the study. We used the Satispsy-22-E scale, a self-administered questionnaire (Frías, V., et al. 2018. Psychiatry Res. Oct;268:8-14). It assesses patient’s experience of hospitalization through 22 items distributed into 6 dimensions. The score range is from 0 to 100. Differences in Satispsy-22-E scores were analysed by applying ANOVA using the IBM-SPSS (v. 25).

Total scores in Satispsy-22 are provided in Figure 1. We found that patient satisfaction was increased in the dimensions of “personal experience” and “food” (p<0.05). No significant differences were found in staff, quality of care, information, activity dimensions and Total score (Table 2).

Our results provide preliminary evidence indicating that the open-door policy could have a positive impact on patient satisfaction, especially in relation to the personal experience on an acute inpatient psychiatric unit.

Medical-technical advances are contributing to the increased life expectancy of children with congenital heart disease (CHD) (Ladouceur et al., 2021). As they grow up into adulthood, they face many challenges (eg. surgeries, hospitalizations, separations from family, cardiac symptoms, anxiety symptoms). It is known that some parenting practices like parental overprotection during childhood are associated with anxiety in the general population, but little is known in this population.

We aim to measure the contribution of parental practices (global; positive: warm care, consistent structure, autonomy support; and negative: overprotection) to explain variance in anxiety symptoms in adults with CHD, beyond sociodemographic and antecedents of pediatric hospitalisations.

An observational cross-sectional study was conducted on 223 adults with CHD followed at the Montreal Heart Institute. We evaluated anxiety symptoms and retrospective parental practices using validated self-reported questionnaires, namely the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale, the Parental Bonding Inventory, the Perceived Parental Autonomy Support and the Multidimensional Parental Structure Scale. Sociodemographic and antecedents of pediatric hospitalisations information was collected from medical records and pediatric archives. Hierarchical multiple linear regression analyses were conducted.

The average age of our participants is 46 years and the majority (59 %) were female at birth. The median number of hospitalisation before 18 years old was two. 15 % presented severe anxiety symptoms (HADS-A ≥ 11), 17 % had moderate symptoms (HADS-A = 8-10), and 68 % had mild or no symptoms (HADS-A ≤ 7).

The inclusion of parenting practices significantly increased the proportion of variance explaining anxiety symptoms. They explained more variance (13%) than sociodemographic and pediatric hospitalisations combined (10%).

In this model, only positive parenting practices were significantly associated with anxiety, in contrast to parental overprotection.

When the parental practices were analyzed separately, positive practices (autonomy, care, and structure) were negatively associated with anxiety symptoms, while overprotection was positively associated with anxiety symptoms.

Our results suggest that although our participants’ physical health may be limited by their CHD, the majority report a low anxiety scores. Further, parenting practices appear to be malleable predictors of anxiety. Beyond avoiding overprotective parenting style, positive and supportive parenting practices are potential targets for future initiatives to prevent anxiety symptoms in adults with CHD.

We have observed an increase in the number of patients detained under s136 of the Mental Health Act (MHA) within our emergency department. Patients are often transferred to the emergency department as an alternative place of safety. Many of these patients are provided very little information about the detention and the process of assessment. Best practice states that all patients should be provided written information. Currently, there is no such written information available with our emergency department or within the psychiatric liaison team in St Mary’s Hospital.

We aim to produce a user friendly information leaflet which will be distributed to all patients bought into the A&E department under s136. We aim to improve provision of written information from 0% to 50%.

We aim to complete this project in three stages:

Stage 1: involvement of service users using the trust Expert by Experience Forum. We will co-produce a clear and user friendly leaflet detailing information pertaining to s136 and the process of assessment.

Stage 2: Once the leaflet is finalised, we will involve colleagues within the emergency department to ensure that there is an effective system which will ensure adequate distribution of the leaflet.

Stage 3: Once the leaflet is incorporated into our clinical practice, we will audit its distribution.

We will upload the finalised leaflet. We will also assess a random selection of notes from November 2022 to March 2023 to assess % of patients provided with written information.

This project will result in co-production of an information leaflet for patients detained under s136 of the MHA. As such, we will aim to inform and improve the process for patients presenting to St Mary’s Hospital under the MHA.

Epidemiological studies shows that exposure to early stress in the form of abuse and neglect in childhood increases the risk for later development of severe mental illneses such as schizophrenia and bipolar affective disorder.

•Study the prevalence of childhood trauma in a sample of adult patients diagnosed with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.

•Identify potential differences of types of childhood trauma between both groups.

This cross-sectional study was conducted on 200 patients admitted to the inpatient unit at Maamoura psychiatric hospital in Alexandria. Assessment of the history and nature of childhood trauma was done by Arabic version of childhood trauma questionnaire (CTQ).

There was no statistically significant difference between the two studied groups regarding past history of childhood trauma (p=0.397). (Table 1) Regarding the nature of childhood trauma, the history of emotional abuse and physical neglect was more commonly associated with developing bipolar disorder whereas the history of physical abuse was sihnficantly more commonamong schizophrenia patients. (Table 2)

History of childhood trauma is common among adult patients with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder with no significant difference between both groups. Nature of trauma may be diffirent where physical abuse might be correlated with later development of schizophrenia.

Due to the effects of sleep on the central nervous system,it is thought that sleep problems have a special importance in the onset, course and treatment of psychiatric diseases. Although the negative effects of sleep problems on the occurrence, recurrence and clinical course of psychiatric disorders are well known, it is reported that clinicians do not spend enough time for sleep problems in practice.To our knowledge there is no study in the literature which examining its effect on frontal lobe functions or social functionality in schizophrenia.

In current study, it is aimed i- to examine the chronobiological characteristics of remitted patients with schizophrenia, ii- to determine the effect of chronobiology on sleep quality, frontal lobe functions, depressive symptoms, interpersonal relationships and social functionality in patients with schizophrenia, iii- thus to improve the quality of life and the treatment outcome of patients with schizophrenia.

185 patients with schizophrenia who met the Andreason remission criteria were included in the study. The patients were evaluated with Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS), Morningness & Eveningness Scale (MEQ), Calgary Depression Index (CDI), Pitssburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), Barratt Impulsivity Scale Short Form (BIS-11-SF), Frontal Assessment Battery (FAB), Personal Social Performance Scale (PSPS). Each patient was classified either as morning type (MT) or evening type (ET) or intermediate type (IT) according to MEQ scores.

The obtained MEQ responses indicated that 29 (15.7%) of the patients were “ET”, 124 (67.0%) were “IT”, and 32 (17.3%) were “MT”. In the “ET” group, the mean of CDI total score, the mean of PSQI total score, the mean of BIS-11-SF total and the mean score of BIS-11-SF planlessness and inattention subscale were higher than in both the “IT” and “MT”. The mean total scores PSPS of “ET” patients were found to be lower than the mean scores of both the “IT” and “MT” patients. There was no significant difference between the groups in terms of FAB total scores. According to Multiple Linear Regression Analysis, total MEQ score and PANSS-negative symptoms subscale score were found to have an effect on PSPS[1]Personal Social Realitionship subscale scores.

Although all patients included in current study were in remission, it was found that chronotype characteristics were effective on many clinical manifestations and comorbid conditions. The findings obtained from our study emphasize how important it is to question chronotypic features in daily psychiatric practice. In this context, being aware of the importance of chronotypic features in the treatment of schizophrenia patients, questioning the patients in this respect and taking necessary interventions may have the potential to improve functionality, which is one of the main treatment goals in patients with schizophrenia.

Forensic studies often found high rates of major psychiatric and substance use disorders among inmates. These factors are linked to criminality in general, however, their involvement in recidivism among this population seems to be more important to determine.

The aim of this study is to determinesociodemographic, psychiatric and forensicfactors of criminal recidivism among prisoners

We studied the medical files of all the offenders referred to the forensic psychiatry unit in Razi hospital for an examination between January 2010 and October 2020 and we analyzed sociodemographic, psychiatric and forensic characteristics of this population.

The number of people who have undergone a forensic psychiatric examination was 256. Three files were not usable due to lacking data. The offenders were men in 95.7% (242) of the cases.

Male inmates were found to be more likely to be re-incarcerated (p=0.029). The study showed that the level of education was an important factor in the recidivism of criminal acts (p=0.001) whilst no impact of marital status and employment were found (p=0.848; p=0.088).

Family history of psychiatric illness was significantly higher among recidivist (p=0.022).

Psychiatric factors associated with multiple convictions were the presence of a major psychiatric discord (p=0.0013), a personality disorder (p=0) or a substance use disorder (p=0.025).)

The reason of conviction was linked with criminal recidivism as violent offense were factors of incarceration (p=0) as well as the age at first conviction (p=0) and the number of anterior incarcerations (p=0).

Our study underlines that predictive factors of criminality in general are also involved in recidivism among prisoners which is useful in establishing strategies of secondary but also primary prevention of violent crimes in particular.
