Even though the construct of Formal Thought Disorder (FTD) is an ambiguous and disputed one, it has endured as a fundamental psychopathological concept in the clinical coalface of Psychiatry. FTD can be summarized as a multidimensional concept, which reflects difficulties or idiosyncrasies in thought, language, and communication in general. It is usually subdivided into positive versus negative and objective versus subjective, and it can be a major challenge for both mental health professionals and patients themselves.

In this presentation, we aim to explore the latest neuroscientific findings regarding FTD and its putative neurobiological substrate, ranging from the synaptic and neurotransmitter level to the structural and functional one, briefly considering some of the linguistic and neuropsychological implications.

We conducted a thorough narrative review by researching the Pubmed database using the following search string: “formal thought disorder”[Title/Abstract] and selecting only those articles published after 2010. Afterwards, we summarized the main findings from the gathered information.

Some of the most consistent findings in current meta- and mega-analyses of structural MRI studies in patients with schizophrenia and FTD are volume reductions of regional grey matter in the frontal operculum and the language-related lateral temporal cortices, namely the left superior temporal gyrus and middle temporal gyrus. Another consistent finding is the so-called reversed lateralization of the temporal cortices. Regarding functional MRI studies of FTD, amongst the most common implicated regions are the bilateral superior and middle temporal gyri, the fusiform gyrus and the inferior frontal gyrus. Alterations in the glutamatergic, dopaminergic and serotoninergic neurotransmitter systems have also been linked to FTD.

Many areas of the brain have been implicated in the pathogenesis of FTD, though some more consistently than others. The superior temporal, middle temporal and inferior frontal gyri in particular have repeatedly revealed both structural and functional alterations in patients with FTD. A reversed lateralization has also been observed at both structural and functional levels. The different neurotransmitter systems have also been connected with FTD, with the glutamate system being the one more thoroughly explored. However, the direction of causality between changes in the brain and FTD, and the influence of potential mediators remain largely unknown.

The Childhood Mental Disorders Research Group of ELTE began helping displaced children and their families immediately after the outbreak of war in Ukraine in March 2022. This work is still being carried out on a voluntary basis. According to the current needs, they organize "playgroup" for children and their families several times a week both at a fixed location at the ELTE and at external locations in shelters where they work with many children and their families at the same time. The main focus of the groups is the prevention of mental illness.

In this presentation, the work of the Research group will be presented, which has been done in a shelter that accommodates mainly families with Roma ethnic backgrounds from the Transcarpathia region fleeing the Russian-Ukraine war.

Knowledge about muscular dystrophies and in particular X-linked inherited disorders such as Duchenne and Becker Muscular Dystrophy has been gradually acquired as more research studies have been conducted to better understand the pathogenesis, management and prognosis of these conditions. However, little is known about a probable correlation between muscular dystrophies and neuropsychiatric disorders. We present the case of a 41-year-old male with history of a mild rare form of muscular dystrophy and elevated CPK level, who presents with psychotic symptoms that resolve with proper management of the underlying medical condition.

The purpose of this case report is to emphasize the importance of being mindful when diagnosing patients with a psychiatric illness as psychotic symptoms could also result from underlying rare muscular dystrophies.

A comprehensive review of literature using databases, such as PubMed and Google Scholar was conducted to gain a better understanding of this specific disorder and to rule out conditions that present in a similar way. Keywords used were Muscular Dystrophy, Elevated CPK, Psychosis, Becker, Duchenne.

Data shows that patients with these muscular dystrophies have mutations that affect Dp71 expression. Moreover, Dp71 is expressed in postsynaptic membranes in the glutaminergic pathway whose alteration might contribute to neuropsychiatric disorders. As there is growing body of evidence of rhabdomyolysis encountered in patients treated with antipsychotics, there is less data available about a possible causal relationship between rhabdomyolysis and subsequently elevated CPK inducing psychosis.

Further studies could be helpful to explore a possible correlation between an elevated CPK level and psychotic symptoms as demonstrated by this case report. A thorough history taking, psychiatric and medical evaluations would prevent misdiagnosis of psychiatric disorders and would lead to proper management of these rare cases.

Poly use of psychoactive substances (tobacco, alcohol and cannabis) is a major health issue, especially among younger children, mainly adolescents and students. The prevalence of addictive behaviour in Tunisia is clearly increasing. This development attracts the attention of the scholarly society from the point of view of the effects and consequences on the short or long term. Since this is still a taboo subject given the socio-cultural and religious constraints, there are still difficulties in conducting epidemiological investigations on this subject.

In this context, we conducted this study with the Tunisian student population during the academic year 2020/2021. The objectives of this work were: To determine the prevalence of the use of the three psychoactive substances (tobacco, alcohol and cannabis) and to evaluate school performance as associated factors of substance use.

We proceeded to a descriptive and analytical cross-sectional study conducted with a sample of the Tunisian student population during the 2020/2021 academic year (from November 2020 to February 2021).

We included in the analysis 772 students. The average age of the study population was 23.29 3.25. Alcohol was the most reported substance in 35.8% of participants. The prevalence of tobacco use was 32.1% and that of cannabis use was 14.4%. Academic achievement was assessed by the notion of repetition, from which we noted that 81.3% of respondents did not experience repetition. Repetition was statistically significantly associated with the use of all three substances (p < 10-3). The concept of repetition increased the risk of smoking by 2.616 (95% IC95 [1,724-3,969]). The concept of repetition increased the risk of consumption by 2.33 (IC95%[1,522-3,578]). The notion of repetition multiplies the risk of cannabis use by 2,250 (IC95%[1,369-3,699]).

The relationship between the use of psychoactive substances and low academic performance has been explained from different medical and psychological perspectives. It is crucial to recommend the development of support cells in academic institutions as well as to strengthen psychological management especially for people who have experienced a drop in school because they would be people at risk of developing a substance use.

Perinatal grief is the process that occurs after the loss of a baby, either during pregnancy or during the period immediately before or after childbirth (up to a year). In recent years, the increase in specific training and development of programs focused on perinatal mental health has facilitated the creation of specific action protocols. The case of a 38-year-old woman who suffers a gestational loss during the third month of pregnancy is explored. The presence of personal and family antecedents that suppose risk factors for the adequate elaboration of the duel, raise doubts about the handling of the case.

This work has several objectives, including reviewing the published literature on perinatal bereavement in an emergency situation and, on the other hand, presenting a case.

A bibliographic search has been carried out in the main sources of medical information such as pubmed, uptodate as well as in national and international journals. Perinatal mental health is an area of knowledge that could provide assistance to mothers, fathers and family systems plunged into a crisis of perinatal grief.

Prevention in situations of possible complicated perinatal mourning is no less important than treatment when the disorder is already established.

Complex PTSD is a new trauma-related disorder in ICD 11 and it differs from PTSD by the trauma being repetitive or prolonged and some other symptoms, while selective anosmia is the inability to detect a particular odor.

Is there any relationship between severe trauma and selective anosmia as a novel feature?

Two articles suggest that selective anosmia may present in animals when olfactory epithelium exposures to some chemical substances while the other two articles indicate that cortical nucleus in the amygdala has major olfactory connections and its degeneration is likely to contribute to the early selective anosmia common in Parkinson’s disease, but no one described this feature in psychiatric trauma.

May be this is the first time ever to describe selective anosmia during severe trauma suggesting a role of amygdala as in this case report, therefore Syria and other countries that had similar crisis need more studies to get accurate statistics, explore more rare features, and test the effectiveness of treatment options.

Coping and emotional regulation mechanisms may play a significant role in the neurodevelopment and in the subsequent psychopathological trajectories, especially in youth. The boredom dimension may also have a pathoplastic role.

Considering the poor literature in adolescents and young people (15-24 years-old), our study aims at investigating the relationships between coping patterns and emotional dysregulation as well the mediatory role of boredom, by particularly focussing on a sample at early onset of mood disorders.

Cross-sectional, observational design study. Descriptive analyses were performed considering a set of socio-demographic and clinical variables (DERS, MSBS, COPE-NVI). Kruskal-Wallis, Spearman correlations and linear regression models were performed between DERS (dependent variable) and COPE-NVI (independent variable), together with mediation analyses (MSBS as mediator).

86 subjects (mean age=18.4±2.8) were enrolled. DERS score was 114.8±33.3, COPE-NVI was 129.1±22.1, MSBS was 136.22±45.8. Positive correlation between DERS total and avoidance strategies (r=+0.6,p<0.001) and negative correlation between DERS total and problem orientation strategies (r=-0.467,p=0.023) were found. Linear regression analyses showed statistically significant differences between DERS and COPE-NVI avoidance strategies (p<0.001) and COPE-NVI problem orientation (p<0.023). Mediation analyses confirmed the mediatory role of boredom dimension in the association between COPE-NVI avoidance subscale and DERS total (B=0.6849, p <0,001), between avoidance subscale and DERS lack of acceptance subscale (B=0.1286, p<0.001). Moreover, a mediatory role of MSBS inattention subscale was found in the association between COPE-NVI avoidance subscale and DERS lack of control subscale (B=0.1027, p<0.001).

Maladaptive coping strategies (particularly avoidance) were associated with increased DERS levels. A predominant use of more adaptive coping strategies (i.e., problem solving, planning) were associated with lower DERS levels. Their relationship appears to be mediated by boredom dimension.

Habituellement, nous voyons dans la consultation psychiatrique des patients épileptiques pour des plaintes psychologiques. Souvent pour un trouble anxieux ou dépressif. Dans d’autres cas, nous prenons en charge des patients psychiatriques atteints d’épilepsie.

L’objectif de notre travail est d’étudier la prévalence de la comorbidité psychiatrique dans une population de patients épileptiques.

Nous avons mené une étude transversale auprès de la consultation de l’hopital ar-razi de salé, à l’aide d’un questionnaire et d’échelles d’évaluation préétablies : le MINI (mini entretien neuropsychiatrique international), l’inventaire de la dépression de Beck, et Échelle d’anxiété de Hamilton.

55 patients ont répondu aux critères d’inclusion. L’âge moyen de nos patients est de 25,9 ans. Le sex-ratio F/H est de 1,6. Plus de la moitié de nos patients sont célibataires (78%). Seuls 21 % des patients ont une activité professionnelle régulière. La prévalence des troubles psychiatriques dans notre étude est de 66,6%. L’anxiété est retrouvée dans 68,2 % des cas, alors que la dépression est évaluée à 58,9 % des cas dont 23,7 % ont une dépression sévère qu’il faut traiter, avec une prédominance du sexe féminin (66,8 %).

Dans notre étude, l’ anxiété et la dépression sont les troubles psychiatriques les plus rapportés en cas d’épilepsie. Ils doivent être systématiquement recherchés pour tout épileptique et traités pour améliorer la qualité de vie des patients.

Chronic insomnia, resistant to different treatments (pharmacological, sleep hygiene and cognitive-behavioral therapy) remains one of the greatest challenges in our daily practice as psychiatrists. The pharmacological options include benzodiazepines and their analogues (zolpidem, zopiclone, etc.). However, when trying to treat chronic insomnia the use of off-label drugs, including antidepressants with sedative action (such as trazodone), antipsychotics or antiepiletic drugs, is not uncommon.

Perampanel is a non-competitive AMPA receptor antagonist, marketed for the treatment of partial onset epilepsy and primary generalized tonic-clonic seizures. It has been used in the treatment of chronic insomnia with positive results and it has shown to improve the quality of sleep in a recent observational retrospective cohort study.

The most frequent adverse effects of Perampanel include dizziness and drowsiness. Perampanel can also cause psychiatric and behavioral adverse effects, aggression and irritability in up to 10% of patients, as well as depression, and suicidal ideation, with higher rates in patients with psychiatric history.

To draw attention to possible adverse effects of Perampanel and to add knowledge to improve the treatment for chronic insomnia.

Case report and non-systematic literature review of the current data.

A 33 year old woman with Anorexia Nervosa was admitted to the psychiatric hospitalization unit due to suicidal ideation and a history of chronic insomnia. Perampanel was started at a dose of 2mg/day, progressively titrated to 6mg/day, following patient’s informed consent. A week after the initiation of treatment, her sleep pattern had improved but she became aggressive, showed low tolerability to minor frustrations and suffered from an intensification of suicidal ideation. She became extremely hostile to the personnel, had severe tantrums and deliberate self injurious behavior. Perampanel was discontinued and in less than a week her aggressive behavior succumbed. Although she was not re-exposed to Perampanel the symptoms she presented are considered a very likely adverse drug reaction. Levomepromazine 20mg/day and Lormetazepam 0.5mg/day were reinstated as a treatment for insomnia.

Psychiatric comorbidity is known to be a risk factor for behavioral adverse effects of Perampanel. Therefore Perampanel as a treatment for chronic insomnia needs a careful individual benefit-risk assessment and monitoring for adverse effects.

The incidence of psychological disorders in patients with cancer is very high (30–60%), with approximately 29–43% fulfilling the diagnostic criteria for psychiatric disorders. The most commonly encountered mental problems encompass depressive symptoms associated with mixed anxiety and adjustment disorder or depressive mood or major depression.

The aim of this research is to highlight the characteristics of psychiatric manifestations in patients with cancer and to analyse the risk factors that influence the occurrence of these psychiatric manifestations.

Sleep problems, irritability, tendency to cry easily, sadness, and pain were among the leading symptoms at baseline. Women reported sleep problems, tendency to cry easily, irritability, pre-occupation with the illness, and sadness as the first five most frequent issues, and men reported sleep problems, irritability, pain (usually incompatible with their medical conditions), sadness, and tendency to cry easily as the most frequent problems.

Significant risk factors that increased the mood disorders were recurrence, presence of secondary cancer, other chronic medical illnesses, history of psychiatric disorder, low income level, poor social support, and being single or divorced.

Functional neurological disorders (FNDs) and autism spectrum disorders (ASDs) share common features in terms of deficits in emotion regulation and recognition, sensory sensitivity, proprioception and interoception. Nevertheless, few studies have assesed teir overlap.

Aims of the present study were: (i) to assess the prevalence of autistic traits in a sample of adult patients with FNDs and (ii) to assess the prevalence of FNS in a sample of adult individuals with ASDs without intellectual disabilities; in this sample, we also evaluated the presence of a possible association between sensory sensitivity and FNS.

We recruited 21 patients with FNDs, 30 individuals with ASDs without intellectual disabilities and 45 neurotypical adults (NA). Participants completed: the Autism Quotient (AQ); the Ritvo Autism Asperger Diagnostic Scale-Revised (RAADS-R); and a questionnaire assessing functional neurological symptoms (FNS). ASDs participants also completed the Sensory Perception Quotient-Short Form (SPQ-SF35), assessing sensory sensitivity.

In the FNDs sample, no patient scored above the clinical cut-off at the AQ and the 19% scored above the cut-off at the RAADS-R, a prevalence similar to the one we found in NA (15.6%; both p > 0.05). The 86.7% of participants with ASDs reported at least one FNS, a prevalence significantly higher than the NA one (35.6%, p < 0.001). In the ASDs sample, tactile hypersensitivity was found to be a risk factor for functional weakness (OR = 0.74, p = 0.033) and paraesthesia (OR = 0.753, p = 0.019).

In conclusions, FNDs individuals did not present autistic traits more than NA, but ASDs individuals presented a higher number of FNSs than NA; this rate was associated with higher sensory sensitivity, especially in the touch domain.

Suicide represents one of the most discussed mental health issues in the world today and health challenges for the future. The burden of suicide is calculated in very high numbers (800 thousand people per year) by the WHO (2014), ranking it among the other most frequent causes of death. The key criteria to determine suicidal or non-suicidal behavior is the presence of intentional self-injurious behavior, in which the individual intentionally attempts to harm himself.

Patients’ data were obtained from the archived clinical files of the Psychiatric Emergency Department and other wards at “Xhavit Gjata” Tirana Psychiatric Hospital. The method used is a descriptive retrospective study of patients admitted during period of January-May 2019. About 75 archived clinical files were thoroughly studied and analyzed, on various demographic and clinical variables.

Albanian women remain more at risk for suicide attempts, while male suicide mortality is higher, as in the world. Higher determination and the use of more lethal methods ranked among the factors contributing to the higher mortality of men. The 29-49 age group is the most affected in our study according to suicide attempts and self-harming behavior. The most pronounced accompanying diagnoses of suicide attempts are major depressive disorders, but not leaving behind psychotic disorders. The average length of stay in the hospital is 18.4 days.

The deepening of knowledge on the etiology, on the factors influencing suicide and on the methods of treatment are only some of the issues facing public health today. Identification of self-injurious behaviors pave the way for treatment and assistance for anyone considering suicide.

Objective

In medicine, women are still understudied because they are considered less reliable research subjects than men, due to hormonal changes during the lifespan. Women with ADHD have been even more understudied, while exactly their hormonal mood changes and increased severity of ADHD urgently need our research attention.

Methods

In a selfreport questionnaire study (Dorani 2021) among 209 women with ADHD, hormonal mood changes during the menstrual cycle, after childbirth and during menopausal transition were investigated, and compared with available data from women of the general population, using the same instruments.

Results

The data showed that in every episode of hormonal changes, women with ADHD suffered from a 2-3 fold increase in frequency and severity of mood changes.

Conclusions

This first study points to increased severity of mood changes and probably also ADHD symptoms during episodes of hormonal changes in women with ADHD during the lifespan. During this talk, the findings and their etiological background will be clarified, such as interaction between the sex hormones estrogen and progesteron with dopamine and other neurotransmitters in the brain. Treatment options will be discussed as well.

Sleep disturbances are commonly observed in schizophrenia and are associated with worse psychotic symptoms and poorer clinical outcomes. This has generated considerable interest in characterizing the relationship between disturbed sleep and schizophrenia.

The aim of this study is to assess sleep quality in patients recently diagnosed with schizophrenia that are antipsychotic-naïve and to analyze their association with sociodemographic and clinical data in the same patient group.

We conducted a cross-sectional, descriptive and analytical study among patients in the psychiatry department "G" at Razi Hospital, over a period of six months. Three scales were used: the Global Assessment of Functioning (GAF) Scale, the Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS) and the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI).

The mean age of patients was 26.8 years and 65% were male. The mean age of onset of the disease in patients included in our study was 24.8 years. The majority of patients (96.3%, n=52) were considered poor sleepers (PSQI threshold value >5). We objectified a negative and statistically significant association between patient functioning (total GAF score) and sleep quality (r= -0.277, p=0.043). The PSQI total score was positively and significantly correlated with the negative scale scores (r=0.315, p=0.021), the general psychopathology scale scores (r=0.411, p=0.002) and the PANSS total score (r=0.378, p=0.005); while no significant association was objectified with scores of the positive scale.

Our study has demonstrated a high prevalence of sleep disorders during the first episode of schizophrenia, as well as their association with the severity of symptoms.

The treatment with long-acting injectable antipsychotics (LAIAs) is more and more frequent and it shows advantages regarding adherence, effectiveness and tolerance.

To describe and compare the profile of patients under treatment with LAIAs in a psychiatric hospital in Portugal.

An observational and retrospective study was carried out with the collection of data referring to patients hospitalized with a first psychotic episode between 01/01/2019 and 30/06/2022 in a psychiatric hospital in Portugal and the respective evaluation of sociodemographic and clinical data through the information recorded in the clinical files.

During the 42 months of the study, we selected 78 patients who presented psychotic symptoms on admission. Patients with a history of previous psychotic episodes and prescription of antipsychotic therapy prior to hospitalization were excluded.

Of 78 patients hospitalized with a first psychotic episode, 34 - which corresponds to approximately 44% - were discharged with LAIAs.

Patients receiving LAIAs had an average age of 39 years. The average number of days of hospitalization was 28 days; 41% were female (n=14) and 59 were male (n=20); 35% (n=12) consumed psychoactive substances previously on admission to hospital; 62% (n=21) were discharged under the compulsive treatment regimen. Regarding the diagnosis at discharge, based on the international classification of disease-11 (ICD-11), the most common were schizophrenia, psychotic disorder induced by psychoactive substances and acute and transient psychotic disorder.

From the statistical analysis carried out, no correlation was observed between the rate of readmissions and the administration of LAIAs, nor was there any correlation between the rate of readmissions and compulsive outpatient treatment.

Despite what is described in the literature, in the sample under study, the LAIAs were not superior in the variables studied, namely in reducing the readmission rate. Possible explanations for the results obtained may be justified by the size of the sample under study and the follow-up time of the cases.

The burden on society by depression is undisputable, partly due to a chronic course pattern and depression’s large heterogeneity that contributes to non-response to standard treatments. Using data from the Netherlands Study of Depression and Anxiety (NESDA, www.nesda.nl), Penninx will illustrate both points. When examining the course of depression, especially when also considering the transitions into other affective disorders over time, chronicity is clearly more the rule than the exception (Verduijn et al. BMC Med 2017). Considering depression’s heterogeneity could lead to precision psychiatry approaches that help reduce depression’s chronicity. Immuno-metabolic dysregulations seem to vary as a function of depression heterogeneity: dysregulations map more consistently to “atypical” neurovegetative symptoms reflecting altered energy intake/expenditure balance (hyperphagia, weight gain, hypersomnia, fatigue and leaden paralysis). Findings are confirmed when utilizing genome-wide gene expression as well as DNA information (Milaneschi et al. Biol Psychiatry 2020). Preliminary treatment studies suggest that the presence of immuno-metabolic dysregulations in depression moderates antidepressant effects of standard or novel (immunomodulatory) interventions. An immuno-metabolic depression dimension could dissect depression’s heterogeneity and potentially match depressed subgroups to treatments with higher likelihood of clinical success.

We present the case of a 78-year-old man with multiple somatic pathologies and associated depressive symptoms, under treatment with Citalopram 10mg, who was admitted due to cholangitis secondary to biliary prosthetic obstruction.

Empirical antibiotic treatment with Meropenem and Linezolid was started, along with an increase in the dose of Citalopram to 20mg due to mood worsening. The patient begins with symptoms consisting of complex and polymorphic visual hallucinosis, without any affective or behavioral repercussions. He does not present another semiology of the psychotic sphere.

To highlight the importance of knowing the different interactions and adverse effects of drugs for good clinical management.

We collected the complete medical history of our patient and we carried out a review of the interactions and adverse effects described with the antibiotic drug Linezolid.

As the onset of hallucinations was temporarily correlated with the use of medications, drug-induced hallucinations were suspected, resolving completely after 2 days after withdrawal of Linezolid treatment.

Linezolid is a nonselective inhibitor of MAO A and B, preventing the destruction of monoamine neurotransmitters like serotonin, dopamine, or norepinephrine. It has dopaminergic properties that may enhance the central nervous system effects of anticholinergics and co-prescription with serotonergic drugs increases the risk of serotonin syndrome.

This case highlights the importance of taking into account drug interactions and adverse effects to reduce the risk of drug induced symptoms and optimize their management.

The increase in resistance to antibiotic treatment allows us to anticipate that the use of Linezolid will increase in the coming years, and it is important to know its mechanism of action given the interactions with psychotropic drugs that we use in our usual clinical practice

Mental illness is not uncommon among males. While the estimates of the males who are dissatisfied with their lives, die by suicide, become alcohol-dependent and drug users are high, low numbers seek mental health support.

In this study, we aimed to assess Text4Hope, a texting mental health support service, provided to people in Alberta during the COVID-19 pandemic, and examine its effectiveness among male subscribers.

In a naturalistic randomized controlled trial design, a comparison was run between two populations of Text4Hope male subscribers; an intervention group (IG, Text4Hope subscribers who received once-daily supportive text messages for 6 weeks) and a control group (CG, Text4Hope subscribers who joined the program in the same time frame but were yet to receive text messages). The severity and the prevalence of likely stress, anxiety, and depression were examined between the two groups, using the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS-10), the Generalized Anxiety Disorder 7-item (GAD-7), and the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9), and defined the Composite Mental Health (CMH) score as the sum of these three. T-test, Chi-squared association, and binary logistic regression analyses were applied.

There were 286 male subscribers to Text4Hope. The majority were above 40 years, white, employed, had postsecondary education, were in a relationship, and owned a home. Mean scores of PSS-10, GAD-7, and PHQ-9 scales and the CMH were significantly higher for the CG compared to the IG, 11.4, 28.8, 25.8, and 18.7%, respectively. Similarly, there was a statistically significant lower prevalence in IG, compared to the CG, on likely MDD (58.15 vs. 37.4%) and likely GAD (50 vs. 30.8%), with a small effect size. The IG was a significant predictor for lower odds of both likely MDD and likely GAD while controlling for sociodemographic characteristics.

Text4Hope is an effective tool for mental health support for male subscribers, during the COVID-19 pandemic. Compared to the subscribers who didn’t receive the service, those who received it were in a better mental health condition. Further efforts are still needed to encourage males to participate in such online services that can provide adequate support, particularly during crisis time.

We research new neurological viewpoints of psychiatric syndromes in social cohesion regarding, especially the problematic of lymbic system and amygdala in adults. Nowadays, the number of the problematic use of internet is higher than before the COVID-19 pandemic. The development of the digital techniques is impulsive, which can be the main reason of most neurological dysfunctions and the change of the social communication.

In this presentation, we review studies investigating the relationship among the new digital techniques, limbic system and development of psychiatric syndromes. We attempt to provide a summary of new theories and the areas currently being researched around the topic. Another aim of our research is to present the change of the social communication and emotion regulation, which are risk factors of problematic use of internet and behavioral addictive disorders. These appear in different ways in rehabilitation and social inclusion in Europe.

In order to learn about recent international results, we conducted a literature search in 4 databases ( PubMed , Medline , Web of Science, Google Scolar) using keywords (amygdala, psychiatric syndromes, adults, emotion regulation, problematic use of internet, social cohesion) over the past 5 years. From the obtained results, the English empirical journal articles were used to prepare the literature review.

The frequency of co-occurrence of amygdala dysfunction, problematic use of internet and behavioral addictive disorders are correlated. The studies examined the presence of symptoms of impulsivity and dopamine level of the brain primarily through cross-sectional studies. The social cohesion and inclusion regarding types are different in the regions of Europe.

The dysfunctions of lymbic system regulation cause maladaptive emotion regulation and are risk factors and make the person vulnerable to the development of psychiatric symptoms, problematic use of internet and behavioral addictive disorders. The differents of regions and areas in Europe with the new neurological viewpoints in psychiatric disorders can help with rehabilitation in the social cohesion regarding. These changes are particularly pronounced during adolescence, when the demand for self regulation across a variety of emotional and social situations may be the greatest.
