Parental self-efficacy indicates how effectively parents can manage their parenting responsibility and acts as a predictor of the behavioral and emotional adjustments of children.

Current study was conducted to examine the influencing factors on parental self-efficacy of 2–6 year old children's mothers.

The present study is a descriptive-post hoc study. 350 mothers were selected from 15 kindergartens of 3 area of Tehran, by multistage sampling method. They completed Rosenberg's self-esteem scale (Rosenberg, 1986), Parental Bonding Questionnaire (Parker et al., 1983), Parenting stress Index (Abiding, 1995), Sources of Social support scale (Koeske & Koeske, 2002), Maternal efficacy Questionnaire (Teti & Gelfand, 1991) and Preschool Behavior Checklist (McGuire & Richman, 1986). Stepwise regression analysis showed that parenting stress, children behavioral problems, mother's self-esteem and parental distress subscale from parenting stress index, in four steps, could explain 32% of variance in maternal self-efficacy.

Parental stress, children's behavioral problems and mother's self esteem are important factors in maternal self-efficacy. Therefore, interventions regarding mentioned factors, can enhance maternal self-efficacy and prevent maladjustments related to mothers and children.

In the online drug forum communities there are some 'educated and informed” users who can provide somehow reliable information on psychoactive compounds/combinations. These users, also called 'e-psychonauts”, may possess levels of technical knowledge relating to a range of ”novel psychoactive substances“ (NPS). Our project aimed at identifying and describing what available in terms of the socio-demographic and psychological characteristics of e-psychonauts.

An unobtrusive observational approach of a list of cyber drug communities (blogs, fora, Facebook® and Twitter® pages) was here carried out. The forum posts/threads were accurately reviewed, analysed and compared according to the presence of common clusters in order to obtain appropriate consistency/homogeneity levels. Data were collected in the time frame January- February 2014.

Psychonauts typically considered themselves as 'psychedelic researchers”,new Shamans, 'philosophers” or 'alchemists”.They appeared here to be mainly young, males, unmarried, and Caucasians. They presented with good/excellent employment conditions and with a set of ‘key skills’, including: attention to the inner ‘soul’; high standards of knowledge about drugs’ pharmaceutical/chemical properties; high levels of both verbal fluency in reporting own drug experiences and of IT skills.

The e-psychonauts seemed to perceive themselves as amateur chemists, sampling and at times synthesizing a range of drugs to achieve the state of consciousness they find most pleasurable. There is the need to improve both the existing levels of professional knowledge on this novel generation of drug misusers and to design/develop novel prevention approaches, able to ‘attract the attention’ of the e-psychonauts.

Divorce rates are high among wives of alcoholics and the most frequently identified cause is domestic strife in the form of harassment, torture or beating from the husband and or in-laws. However, there is only limited literature in this regard.

To study the stress, various coping styles and domestic violence among the wives of alcohol dependent individuals, who are admitted to the de-addiction centre of a tertiary care psychiatric centre in India.

An exploratory descriptive design was adopted. Wives of 75 alcohol dependent individuals, admitted in the deaddiction centre of National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences, Bangalore were selected. Data was collected by personal interviews with all 75 wives using socio-demographic information schedule, Perceived Stress Scale, Coping with Drinking Questionnaire, and Domestic Violence Questionnaire.

Wives of alcohol dependent patients had high levels of perceived stress. Avoidance, discord, fearful withdrawal and sexual withdrawal were the most common coping components identified. Domestic violence was experienced by 90% women, mostly intellectual (69%), emotional (59%), social (58%), physical (47%), economic (42%) and sexual violence (27%). Domestic violence was found to increase the stress and influences the coping styles of these women.

Domestic violence is a major problem in wives of alcoholics. Routine screening for domestic violence is needed during the intake of alcoholic for substance abuse treatment so that appropriate interventions can be planned. There is a need for substance abuse treatment providers to be trained on the issue of domestic violence.

There are complicated relations between child's psychiatric problems secondary to epilepsy, maternal stress and parenting style.

The aim of the present research is to study psychological and behavioral characteristics in children with epilepsy, study maternal stress associated with parenting these children, and parenting styles of these mothers.

Children aged 3 to 7 years old with an established diagnosis of epilepsy for at least 1 year without other neurological disorders or mental retardation and their mothers were selected from child neurology clinics in Mashhad, Iran. Eligible participants were 30 epileptic children. Control group of 30 healthy children from Mashhad kindergartens were matched with epileptic children in terms of age and sex. Strengths & Difficulties Questionnaires (SDQ), Parenting Stress Index (PSI), Parenting Style Questionnaire (PSQ) and a demographic questionnaire were used for data collection.

Mothers of children with epilepsy had higher levels of parenting stress (in both parent and child domains) compared to the other group (P < 0.001). Parents with epileptic children scored higher on permissive and authoritarian parenting scales. However, the score was lower for authoritative parenting style in comparison with the scores of the control group. In general, these differences did not reach a significant level (P>0.05). Children with epilepsy had significantly higher scores than normal children in terms of emotional symptoms, conduct problems, hyperactivity and hence, the total difficulty score (P< 0.05).

Educational and psychological programs aimed at enhancing adjustment of parents with their children's epilepsy are greatly needed.

Impairments in social behavior and cognition, such as the ability to identify others’ emotional state, are important features in schizophrenia. Arginine vasopressin (AVP) and oxytocin (OXT) and are nonapeptides that influence social cognition and behavior. Previous studies have shown that the administration of intranasal AVP or OXT may affect the ability to recognize facial emotions. The primary objective of this study was to investigate the effects of a single dose of AVP or OXT on social cognition in patients with schizophrenia. The secondary objective of the study was to test for sex-specific effects of intranasal AVP and OXT administration on social cognition.

In this double-blind, placebo-control, cross-over study, 34 patients diagnosed with schizophrenia or schizo-affective disorder, received a dose of AVP, OXT or placebo in three separate meetings. Forty-five minutes after administration, subjects performed facial emotion recognition tasks.

There were no significant main effects of hormone administration on the ability to recognize facial emotions between treatment conditions. However, AVP administration resulted in sex-specific differences in emotion recognition. Specifically, in men, AVP administration reduced the ability to recognize angry faces. In women, AVP administration reduced the ability to recognize sad faces and improved the ability to recognize fearful faces.

These findings indicate that intranasal AVP may affect the recognition of facial emotions differently in men and women. Thus, AVP may increase the differences between men and women on social cognition.

Suicidal behaviour is one of the most common reasons for presentation to the emergency rooms. Bullying is a universal public health concern that affects significant number of adolescents. Many children and adolescents are recurrently involved in school bullying. Research suggests that both bullies and victims are overrepresented amongst those seen by mental health professionals.

Understand the the relationship between bullying and suicidal behaviour, prevalence of different kinds of bullying in patients with mental health problems and prevalence of cyber bullying and it's affect on the victim

Increase public awareness on importance of cyber bullying. We feel that many patients won't disclose that they had been or are being cyber bullied because the characteristics are unclear.

Charts of all patients who visited emergency room from 2011 to 2013 with a mental health complaint were reviewed. Variables understudy were gender, history of bullying, type of bullying (verbal, physical, emotional), DSM-IV-TR diagnosis and outcome following the assessment.

Our study shows significant association between bullying, and suicidal behaviours, although based on our study, this predictor was not commonly assessed .

Our study showed that there was a significant link between bullying and future suicidal behaviour which is not commonly assessed. It is important that physicians identify these risk factor while assessing suicidality. Involvement in current cyber bullying was found to be less frequent than other forms of bullying such as verbal and physical. However, significant links were observed between cyber bullying and suicidal behaviour.

In recent years, researchers and clinicians have shown an increasing interest in self-compassion. Indeed, several studies have suggested that self-compassion is a positive factor for mental and physical health. The Self-Compassion Scale (SCS; Neff, 2003) has been widely used to assess six dimensions of self-compassion (self-kindness, self-judgment, common humanity, isolation, mindfulness and over-identification) among diverse populations. Recently, it has also been used in perinatal samples but its psychometric properties in pregnant women is still unexplored.

This study aims was to investigate the reliability and the validity of the SCS using Confirmatory Factor Analysis in a sample of Portuguese pregnant women.

Participants were 417 pregnant women with a mean age of 33 years old (SD = 4.74) in their second trimester of pregnancy (M = 17.26, SD = 4.78, weeks of gestation). Participants completed the Portuguese version of the SCS while waiting for the routine prenatal consultation in Maternity Hospital, Portugal.

A was tested and results showed that the six-factor model had a good fit to the data (TLI = 0.93, CFI = 0.94, RMSEA = 0.06). The total SCS presented a good internal reliability (α = 0.91) and their subscales showed Cronbach's alphas ranging between adequate (α = 0.77) and good (α = 0.87).

Overall, these findings suggest that the Portuguese version of the SCS is a valid and reliable measure to assess self-compassion among pregnant women. Thus, SCS could be useful in diverse settings in the perinatal period.

Mental illness stigma existed long before psychiatry, although sometimes the institution of psychiatry has not helped enough in reducing either stereotyping or discriminatory practices. Stigma of mental illness involves problems with knowledge, attitudes, and behavior and has important negative consequences for patients and their families. As new technologies become more reliable and accessible, mental health specialists are developing new and innovative methods through which they may provide services. Internet has an important role in the delivery of information because of its ability to reach a large number of people in a cost-effective manner.

In order to reduce stigma an online platform with relevant information about schizophrenia was developed. Simultaneously a social media campaign to increase awareness was launched.

A multidisciplinary team of psychiatrists, web-developers, IT specialists and designers developed the platform www.schizophrenia.ro. The platform is intended to be simple and with a great visual impact and it gathers general information about schizophrenia. The social media campaign used emotional messages like “Diagnosis is not the end of the road” or “I’m a person not a diagnosis” combined with high impact images.

From 1st January to end of September 2015 the platform had about 22,500 users and about 70,500 page views. The social media campaign had a reach of approximately 9700 people in just 2 months.

The World Wide Web is increasingly recognized as a powerful tool for prevention and intervention programs and could also play an important role in destigmatization campaigns.

Religious themes commonly feature in religious with Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). OCD which includes cognitive, emotional, and behavioral components, is a debilitating chronic disorder and can affects on patient’ marital satisfaction. The aim of us was to evaluate efficacy of Religious Cognitive- Behavior therapy (RCBT) on religious oriented Obsessive-Compulsive disorder and marital satisfaction.

This is a randomized controlled clinical trial. This study conducted on 90 OCD outpatients with 17 and more Yale Brown obsessive compulsive scale(Y-BOCS) and religious content OCD. Intervention consists of 10 weekly RCBT. We used Enrich scale for asses’ marital satisfaction and Y-BOCS scale before and after treatment.Data were analyzed by ANCOVA/ANOVA repeated measure test using SPSS version ver.15.

In our study duration of OCD was 11.5 ± 8.6 years & 11.5 ± 8.8 years and duration of marriage was 16.88 ± 11.6 & 13.51 ± 10.9 years Yale Brown scores after intervention decreased with significant difference (p = 0.001). There were significant difference between mean scores of two groups (p = 0.001). Comparison of obsession subscale and compulsion subscale of Yale Brown scale showed decreasing trend in both of obsession subscale and compulsion either within or between group is statistically significant (p = 0.001).Also marital satisfaction significantly improved in case group (p = 0.001).

In religious patients with religious contents, religious based interventions like religious CBT could significantly increase clinical responses. Also theses interventions could improve marital status. These results suggest that Religious Cognitive-Behavior Therapy can be effective for religious oriented OCD patients.

Xenophobia has been referred to as a global phenomenon, linked to the globalization process and noted in countries undergoing transition. It comes from the perceived threat of foreigners’ impact on the citizens’ identity or individual rights. Although the Gulf countries host a large number of migrants from several different cultures and ethnicity, so far no study has examined the conceptualization and pervasiveness of Xenophobia and counter strategies to such phenomenon.

Exploring Xenophobia in the Gulf context. Exploring socio-demographic and cognitive factors affecting xenophobia.

Validating a measure of Xenophobia in the Gulf cultural context. Examining the gender differences in Xenophobia among the GCC individuals. Studying socio-demographic and cognitive predictors of Xenophobia.

A sample of 513 individuals from the GCC countries completed several measures of socio-demographic and cognitive variables. Likert-type scale of xenophobia was developed and validated on a large sample of Qatari citizens that showed trustworthy indications of validity and reliability and delivered via internet survey.

The findings showed that Xenophobia negatively correlated with age, parents’ level of education, and varied subject to the type of father's job. The females showed Xenophobia more indications than males. Participants from the six GCC countries showed different levels of Xenophobia indicators. Bad experience with expatriates fully mediated the relationship between the socio-demographic of subjects and the number of Xenophobia indicators. Cognitive factors were also good predictors of Xenophobia across all cultures and gender.

Xenophobia in the Gulf region is influenced by several cognitive and socio-demographic factors that is mediated by, but not limited to, negative personal experiences and their cultural backgrounds.

Especially medical students set high academic standard, and try hard to achieve because they are requested to studying medicine perfectly. Multidimensional perfectionism scale (MPS) is used to measure perfectionism in medical student. The purpose of the present study was to investigate the relationships between stress and various factors including perfectionism.

We enrolled 159 medical students from University of Ulsan college of Medicine. We used the Medical Stress scale (MSS), the Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale(MPS), the patient health questionnaire-9(PHQ-9), the academic motivation scale (AMS), the insomnia severity scale(ISS), and The revised neo personality inventory.

To analyze data, we used Pearson's correlation and logistic regression analysis. In the first step- Pearson's correlation analysis, a motivation, PHQ-9, ISI, perfectionism and neuroticism traits of NEO-PI significantly correlated with stress level (P < 0.001). In the second step, logistic regression analysis indicated that students who feel high level of academic stress (MSS score ≥ 28) are also related to a motivation, insomnia, perfectionism and neuroticism traits of NEO-PI (R2 = 0.389, P < 0.05).

Student who tend to be perfect feel more academic stress. The high level of stress related to insomnia and a motivation in medical student. Moreover, personality trait also can influences their psychological stress level.
