Familial atrial fibrillation is inherited and sporadically occurs in the paediatric population. Generally, fibrillated wavelets are reported at a frequency of approximately 6 Hz. Herein, we report a familial case presenting rapidly fibrillated wavelets at frequencies of approximately 12 to 30 Hz associated with KCNQ1 and SCN5A mutations.

It is not uncommon to have prolapse of the atrial septal occluder device despite accurate measurement of atrial septal defect and an appropriately chosen device. This is particularly a problem in cases with large atrial septal defect with absent aortic rim. Various techniques have been described for successful implantation of atrial septal occluder in such a scenario. The essence of all these techniques is to prevent prolapse of the left atrial disc through the defect while the right atrial disc is being deployed. In this brief report, we illustrate the use of cobra head deformity of the device to successfully deploy the device across the atrial septum.

Pregnancy in a woman with double outlet right ventricle, ventricular septal defect, and pulmonary stenosis is presented. Her previous two pregnancies ended in fetal losses. In the current pregnancy, she had thrombocytopenia, placenta previa, and severe fetal growth restriction. She underwent an emergency caesarean section followed by post-partum haemorrhage and COVID-19 infection. Literature review has been performed.

A 2-month-old infant with pulmonary atresia, ventricular septal defect, and major aortopulmonary collateral arteries developed an aneurysmatic elongation of the tricuspid valve tissue that partially closed and dynamically protruded through the ventricular septal defect, beneath the aortic valve. This rare finding caused dynamic left ventricle outflow tract obstruction and recurrent cardiac arrests and ultimately required surgical intervention.

Percutaneous closure of atrial septal defect is recognised as a safe and effective procedure, however, in some patients complications may occur. Although chest pain has been sporadically reported, its exact aetiology has been poorly studied. Herein, a 14-year-old female with an atypical and long-lasting chest pain after percutaneous atrial septal defect closure is described.

Tuberous sclerosis complex is a rare multisystem genetic disorder characterised by the growth of numerous tumour-like malformations in many parts of the body including skin, kidneys, brain, lung, eyes, liver, and heart. Mutations in the TSC1 or TSC2 genes have been reported to cause disruption in the TSC1–TSC2 intracellular protein complex, causing over-activation of the mammalian target of rapamycin protein complex. In this study, we present a 3-month-old male infant diagnosed with tuberous sclerosis, bilateral neurosensorial hearing loss, Wolff–Parkinson–White syndrome on electrocardiography, multiple cardiac rhabdomyomas with severe stenosis in the left ventricular outflow tract, who responded well to the Everolimus therapy.

Although surgery is the standard treatment for native coarctation in neonates, it carries a high risk of complications. Percutaneous balloon angioplasty may be considered as an alternative treatment. The materials used in the intervention should be selected carefully to reduce complications. We recommended the use of non-compliant balloons in risky babies. They are more effective in the treatment of strick stenosis than compliant balloons.

Stenosis of the Inferior Caval Vein is rarely encountered in the paediatric setting. A 5-year-old male sustained severe injuries secondary to a fall from a three story balcony and was subsequently found to have severe stenosis of the inferior caval vein resulting in extensive lymphatic drainage with chylothorax, chyloperitoneum, and severe abdominal ascites. This was successfully treated with transcatheter stent placement resulting in complete resolution of the stenosis and significant clinical improvement allowing for transfer to a rehabilitation centre and eventual discharge home.

Interestingly, our case presenting with coronary AV fistula firstly reported in the literature with fetal valproate syndrome. Although differential diagnosis is sometimes difficult, it can be diagnosed with detailed history, physical examination and appropriate laboratory tests. Fetal valproate syndrome can be prevented by discontinue of the valproic acid especially during first trimester of pregnancy.

Coronary artery aneurysms in children were observed as a rare complication associated with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). This case report describes the severe end of the spectrum of the new multisystem inflammatory syndrome in a 12-year-old child with coronary aneurysms, myocardial dysfunction, and shock, managed successfully with extracorporeal membrane oxygenation support and immunomodulation therapy. This report also highlights the additional benefits of cardiac CT in the diagnosis and follow-up of coronary aneurysms.

This is a case of an infant with unilateral discontinuous right pulmonary artery. Cardiac catheterisation with pulmonary wedge injection diagnosed the anomaly and aided in surgical planning. The patient underwent semi-autologous surgical repair utilising an autologous main pulmonary artery flap. One month following discharge, he underwent successful balloon dilation of the residual stenosis and was discharged the same day.

Mammalian target of rapamycin inhibitors was found recently to be an effective treatment for manifestations of Tuberous sclerosis complex, including cardiac rhabdomyomas. Most cases with Cardiac rhabdomyoma treated with mammalian target of rapamycin inhibitors to date were diagnosed with Tuberous sclerosis. We report a case of cardiac rhabdomyoma and severe right ventricular outflow obstruction in a baby with negative genetics for Tuberous sclerosis that responded rapidly to Sirolimus.

Bridging bronchi are the rarest of the major airway anomalies reported in the literature. In this brief report, we present a case of a symptomatic adult male patient presenting with a type 2 bridging bronchus associated with left pulmonary artery sling.

Aneurysm and pseudoaneurysm development is a known, albeit uncommon, complication after right ventricular outflow tract surgical reconstruction. Large right ventricular outflow tract aneurysms and pseudoaneurysms have not been extensively described in recent literature and we report our experience with this unusual complication in five patients at our institution over the last 8 years. Although uncommon, this complication has potentially important clinical implications. Thus, clinicians should be aware of its potential, particularly in certain anatomic conditions.

Right pulmonary artery to left atrial fistula is classified based on the right pulmonary artery branching, individual right pulmonary venous drainage, and presence of an aneurysmal segment. A rare association with scimitar syndrome and right lung devoid of blood supply from right pulmonary artery is described in this report. The anatomical and management differences between the different types are highlighted.

We report on the diagnosis of anomalous coronary artery in two brothers. Following the diagnosis of anomalous coronary artery in one sibling, we screened immediate family relatives and found the same anomaly in the older brother. Familiarity in this pathology is extremely rare. We analysed and compared clinical, echocardiographic and radiological findings in the two brothers.

We describe two cases of an unusual variant of double outlet right ventricle with intact ventricular septum diagnosed prenatally and confirmed by foetal autopsy in a case. The first case had mitral valve atresia, slit-like left ventricle, and normally related great arteries. The second case had mitral valve atresia, hypoplastic left ventricle, parallel outflows with an interrupted aortic arch.

An 8-day-old neonate was presented with severe respiratory distress and diagnosed as primary pulmonary hypertension of the newborn on functional echocardiogram. Evaluation showed bounding pulse, enlarged umbilical cord, and bruit over the periumbilical region. Transthoracic echocardiography and CT angiogram showed a large fistulous communication between the umbilical vein and artery suggestive of congenital umbilical arteriovenous malformation leading to high-output cardiac failure and pulmonary artery hypertension. The patient was stabilised with medications and ventilation. Transcatheter closure of communication was done using coils, vascular plug, and KONAR-MFTM device. The patient improved from heart failure soon after the procedure and thriving normally at 6 months of follow-up.

We describe the case of a 2-month-old born with hypoplastic left heart syndrome who presented with fever and vomiting and was found to be infected with the novel corona virus (COVID-19). He underwent treatment with supplemental oxygen, heparin, and dexamethasone. After a 6-day hospitalisation, he recovered remarkably well without major adverse effects.
