Some of the changes in esterase content which occur during embryogenesis of the large milkweed bug, Oncopeltus fasciatus (Dallas), have been considered in relation to the stage of development and commencement of function of specific organs and tissues. A similar study involving the changes in protein as well as in esterase content during moulting and metamorphosis, has been made with larvae, pupae and adults of the tomato hornworm, Protoparce quinquemaculata.
