In a recent article Johnson makes use of the term “Desert Hohokam.” This term has been questioned several times, and nothing has been offered since in support of its use. The facts do not suggest what the concept of “Desert Hohokam” is supposed to imply.

With an increasing number of flint knappers producing stone implements in an effort to study the techniques used by prehistoric man, there is a possibility that these specimens will ultimately find their way into collections and be regarded as prehistoric artifacts. This danger can be largely eliminated if the knappers will use a small diamond nib to inscribe their initials and the last two digits of the year of manufacture on the specimens.
