Summary

Donor eggs can be employed to overcome age-related decline in egg quality, premature ovarian insufficiency, and transmission of genetic disease. Among recipients over 40 success rates are excellent, although certain age-related risks of pregnancy increase. Use of fresh versus frozen donor oocytes, and natural versus programmed cycles are reviewed, and practical strategies for success are outlined.
