Summary
Prophecies of the end times are for any medium delivered with unfailing prematurity. To take one of the hardiest examples: literature, which has been pronounced dead countless times at the hands of its superiors – an “unfortunate victim” of the rapacious cinema in the 1920s, its reserves “exhausted” at the hands of new intermedia art forms four decades later – remains with us in spite of a variety of serious challenges since the advent of the printing press.
