CORYTON
Two militia rates survive for this West Devon parish located twelve miles south-west of Okehampton and seven miles north of Tavistock. In 1630 Thomas Westcote wrote in A View of Devonshire that this parish was ‘a place of no great note’. He also noted that the Coryton family had moved to Cornwall.
