Council Committees
Administrative Committee
The administrative committee consists of the president, president-elect, treasurer, and four other council members whose main duties include preparing agendas for council meetings and annual business meetings and acting on behalf of the council to dispose of policy issues deemed of insufficient weight to require decisions by the council.

Audit Committee
The audit committee supervises APSA's audit and oversees that adequate internal controls exist for the association's accounting and finance. The audit committee is comprised of three members: two from the council and one from the trust and development board of trustees. Members and the chair are named by the president with the advice and consent of the council.

Elections Committee

The Committee on Civic Education focuses on the contributions that higher education, and political science in higher education institutions, are making or could make to enhance the quantity and quality of civic engagement among young Americans.

Congressional Fellowship Program Advisory Committee
The Congressional Fellowship ProgramAdvisory Committee plays an active role in the direction of the fellowship. Members meet formally once a year to review program finances. They also meet throughout the year to discuss major initiatives.
The committee currently consists of 28 members (including the fellowship director), eight of whom are former fellows. It also includes four sitting members of Congress: a Democratic and Republican senator, and a Democratic and Republican representative. The committee's diverse composition, ranging from academics and journalists to lobbyists and members, is meant to enhance and reflect the fellowship's success.

The Committee on Departmental Services oversees APSA's Departmental Services Program which provides a forum for political science departments large and small to address common issues, and plan and develop publications and services for chairs, faculty, and students. The John Gaus Lecture is to honor the recipient's lifetime of exemplary scholarship in the joint tradition of political science and public administration and to recognize achievement and encourage scholarship in public administration. The purpose of the John Gaus Lecture is to “further cooperation between and encourage scholarship in the fields of political science and public administration. The APSA council decided that the most appropriate way to accomplish this objective was a special lecture to be given at the Annual Meeting of the association by a scholar who best embodies the joint tradition of political science and public administration.
