  • Après la réunion de Rome, on a soumis avant tout à la Commission 3 la question, déjà recommandée par la Joint Commission for Spectroscopy (I.U.P.A.P. et U.A.I.) à Rome, de donner un symbole au numéro d’ onde, et le nom de Kayser (symbole K) à l’unité cm.–1. Les membres de la Commission 3 ne se sont pas trouvés d’accord, et la majorité s’est déclarée contraire à l’adoption des deux propositions. Successivement, la International Organisation for Standardisation (I.S.O.) a communiqué que le Comité technique No. 12 a adopté le nom de Kayser pour l’unité cm.–1, tandis qu’elle a laissé en suspens la decision concernant le symbole K; ainsi que la décision concernant le symbole à adopter pour le numéro d’onde.
