Temptation (2017) by Diane Eagles (b.1966) www.edensclay.co.uk
Diane is an Art Psychotherapist trained in DIT, working clinically in Psychiatric Intensive Care and Psychotherapy outpatients, additionally managing an Arts Psychotherapy team within the NHS where she has worked for 22 years. She lives in London, working in her garden studio. She is founding member and Chair of The Associated Clay Workers Union www.acwu.co.uk
Diane’s work is inspired by ritual, emotional and spiritual investment in objects, healing, power, and the historic resonance of place; ideas closely linked to Art Psychotherapy.
Temptation is one of the Garden of Eden trilogy, sculptural pieces inspired by African spirit pots depicting the creation, the temptation and the expulsion. In Temptation, Eve is seen with a sly expression; in her mouth is the forbidden fruit from the tree of knowledge. Transfigured, she takes the form of a snake wrapped around Adams neck, seductive and dangerous.
