Propose a Camden volume
If you would like to propose a Camden volume please do so by completing the Camden Proposal Form which is accessible via the Royal Historical Society’s website.
You will need to append to the proposal form:
- a general outline of the project, summarising the historical importance of the text and the value of its publication (1 x A4 sheet). This should also explain the ground that will be covered in the introduction, and any plans for supporting tables and appendices
- a summary CV for each editor
- a sample of the edited text, with annotation.
Notes and general guidance:
- Introductions should not in general exceed 10% of the total length of the project. The Society will not normally publish volumes which exceed 130,000 words in length, inclusive of introduction, text, and editorial apparatus.
- Texts of less than 60,000 words in length (inclusive of introduction and critical apparatus) will automatically be considered for inclusion in a Camden Miscellany rather than as a free-standing volume.
- In proposing this edition to the Camden Series, the intending editor warrants that it has not been previously published and is not simultaneously being considered by any other publisher.
- The Camden Style Guidelines should also be consulted.
- Camden volumes may use a selection of the following section titles: Abbreviations; Acknowledgements; Appendices; Bibliography; Chronology; Commentary; Dedication; Editorial principles; Foreword; Index; Introduction; List of figures; List of tables; Maps; Note on translation; Preface; Reports. The inclusion of each component, the make-up of the appendices, and the chapter divisions relating to the primary source text will be agreed under the advisement of the volume’s editor and as discretion of the Camden Series Editors.
