The Editorial incorrectly states 2004 as the year of the extinction of the Catarina pupfish Megupsilon aporus. The correct sentence is ‘The species persisted in captivity for a further 20 years but ex situ breeding was unsuccessful and the last few captive individuals died in 2014 (Valdés González et al., 2020).’
