I Tim. iv. 6 ταυτα ύροτιθέμενος: Pata insakands: haec proponens, where proponere = submit, quasi ‘propone’, the basic meaning of which comes close to that in the present passage. Cf. also Gal. ii. 2 άνεθέμην: ussok: contuli; ύροτίθεσθαι sounds rather precious: έδειξεν would have been adequate.

11 The passage ip eis…gatawidedun is a free rendering of John vi. 10 ην δέ…άνέρεσαν ουν iþ eis (after iþ frauja) þo filusna anakumbjan gatawidedun = (οι δέ…) τό ρληθος άναρεσεīν έροιησαν. I have enclosed the dative absolute construction in brackets, this being a remarkable rendering by the Gothic translator or some later individual of the finite verb in the Greek. The passage does not read well, in any case. Cf. the comments on some dative absolutes in iv, N.T.S. viii, 44f. Cf. also at ni wisandin (below, n. 15).
