The upper portion of the β-ray spectrum of thorium C″ has been investigated by measuring the tracks produced in a Wilson chamber. No trace of a “tail“ is found, no tracks of Hρ greater than 10,800 being observed in some 600 to 800 disintegrations. The end-point is placed at 9400 Hρ, somewhat higher than the value obtained by other workers.

It is possible that the number of tracks of energies greater than 1,070,000 electron-volts has been over-estimated, since, with the comparatively low magnetic fields employed in this work, the radius of curvature of a fast track is great, and slight nuclear or multiple electron scattering would introduce considerable errors in the determination of energy.
