1 Although arrangements are still incomplete for fitly organizing the department of the Journal under the above head, the Secretary has gratefully to acknowledge the promise of assistance received in several quarters to enable him to improve the character of the “Notes,” and render them a useful reference to Oriental scholars and students. In furtherance of this last-mentioned object, communications from kindred Societies and Institutions (at home and abroad) that may wish to see their Proceedings summarized and Journals analyzed, or from publishers who may desire to have catalogued or otherwise noticed their latest published works, will meet with ready attention, if sent to the Royal Asiatic Society's rooms in Albemarle Street.
