Abnormal migration of central venous catheters is especially common in the case of long lines inserted via the antecubital fossa. A case is described of internal jugular vein migration of a central venous catheter complicating an ipsilateral radical neck dissection.

Verrucous carcinoma is a rare variant of squamous cell carcinoma which occurs most frequently in the oral cavity and larynx. In this article we describe a patient with verrucous carcinoma of the maxillary antrum. and present a review of the literature.

A 41-year-old male Egyptian patient presented with difficulty in swallowing, snoring, and the sensation of a lump in his throat over a long period of time. On examination, a left tonsillar polyp was seen ( 4 × 2 × 1 cm) which was pedunculated, bilobulate, with an intact surface. The polyp was excised under local anaesthesia and histopathological examination revealed an haemangiomatous hamartomatous polyp.

Lingual thyroid is an uncommon developmental aberrationof embryogenesis. It may present as a mid-line, non-tender, painless, reddish appearing swelling in the throat. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a relatively new diagnostic method for this condition. Two cases of lingual thyroid are reviewed with their MRI's and surgical results.

We report a case of a lateral pharyngeal diverticulum arising from the right vallecula. The aetiology and clinical features of these rare lesions are discussed. Diagnosis, which is difficult clinically, was made by barium swallow examination of the pharynx. The importance of contrast radiology in the investigation of pharyngeal symptoms is emphasized by this case.
