Archaeology in Greece, 1931–2

Published online by Cambridge University Press:  18 September 2015

Extract

In offering to readers of the Journal this summary of recent work in Greece, I wish to acknowledge my indebtedness to all who have contributed the material on which the compilation is based; most especially to Professor Karo, who kindly lent the typescript of his forthcoming article in the Archaeologischer Anzeiger. Professor Karo's detailed survey of the whole field is the basis of much of what follows, but it contains also detailed information which is not included in the following pages. It will be understood, therefore, that for almost all the excavations here described further reference should be made to the Archaeologischer Anzeiger.
