The IR Color Evolution of Circumstellar Shells
Published online by Cambridge University Press: 30 March 2016
Abstract
The far IR colors of circumstellar shells are delimited by those with masers; few other objects share the same colors. The resulting (25–12)µm color range is primarily due to secular increases in the mass-loss rate, up to a progenitor-mass dependent maximum. Only the most massive progenitors can sustain the mass-loss rate required by the reddest shells.
