P02-34 - Statistical Issues of the Psychiatric Care in Ukraine

Since independence, Ukraine still has inefficient public health care system, with its unbalanced structure of services, especially in mental health care. In 2007 parameters of mental illness and disturbances of behavior was 242,3 per 100 thousand population and in comparison with 1990 decreased per 2,5%. Maximal parameters of mental illness and disturbances of behavior in 1995 consisted 263,1 per 100 thousand population. In structure of parameters of mental illness and disturbances of behavior, in 2007 (72,7% or 176,1 per 100 thousand population) prevailed nonpsychotic. The same data was in 2008. At the same time, features of diagnostics separate nosologic and syndrome groups cause significant statistical errors. In particular, in Ukraine the diagnosis “Vegetative-vascular dystonia” which is ciphered G 90.8, according to ICD-10 instead of “Somatoform disoders” F40.0-F48 is used. It leads unreasonable treatment significant contingents of neurotic patients in neurological departments. In 2003 and in 2004 deseaseness of somatoform disoders was 243 per 100 thousand population, in 2005 - 241. Prevalenses of somatoform disoders in 2003 was 2472 per 100 thousaund population, in 2004 it was equal 2481 and 2005 has reached to 2497. Deseaseness of vegetative-vascular dystonia in 2003 has made 732 per 100 thousaund population, and already in 2005 was equal to 719. Prevalenses of vegetative-vascular dystonia in 2003 has made 2741 per 100 thousaund population, and in 2005 - 2750. This is predisposition to urgent change of the diagnostic doctrine and strengthening of psychotherapeutic service in Ukraine.
