La socioeconomía del insommo: los materiales y los métodos

Resumen

El insomnio afecta aproximadamente a un tercio de la población, y se asocia con un aumento de la morbilidad y la mortalidad, una reductión de la productión y tasas más altas de accidentes. Esto indica que el insomnio puede cargar a la sociedad con un coste significativo. Sin embargo, realizar un análisis económico preciso del insomnio es un reto. El insomnio es parte de una interacción muy compleja de enfermedad física y psicológica, y funciona como causa y como consecuencia a la vez. En este articulo, se debaten algunas de las cuestiones metodológicas relacionadas con un análisis econámico del insomnio. Los datos se presentan utilizando como organizador un análisis económico, ilustrando así qué conclusiones se pueden extraer y dónde se precisa investigación adicional.
