Pulicaria hadramautica Gamal-Eldin & Boulos (Asteraceae, Inuleae), a new species belonging to sect. Platychaete is described and illustrated from S Sayun, Republic of Yemen.

Three new species and one new subspecies of Labiatae are described from the eastern Himalayan mountains: Isodon atroruber R. A. Clement, Anisochilus mitis R. A. Clement, Teucrium grandifolium R. A. Clement and Phlomis rotata Hook. f. subsp. bhutanica R. A. Clement. The new combination Marmoritis pharica (Prain) R. A. Clement is made.

Haemanthus grandifolius Balf.f., a Socotran endemic, has been found flowering for the first time and is shown to be better placed in the genus Ledebouria (Hyacinthaceae); the new combination Ledebouria grandifolia (Balf.f.) A.G. Mill. & D. Alexander is made and an expanded description given.

A striking new species of Diastema, D. fimbratiloba, is described from Ucayali Region, along the eastern Andean slopes in central Peru. The new species has a fimbriate lower corolla lobe, a feature not previously documented in the genus. We also provide a general comparison of the newly described species and morphologically related species in the context of the taxonomy and phylogeny of the poorly known genus Diastema.

Vaccinium oscarlopezianum (sect. Bracteata Nakai) (Ericaceae), known only from two sites in the Sierra Madre Mountains of Luzon, Philippines, is formally described.

Four new species of Columnea (Gesneriaceae) section Collandra (syn. Dalbergaria Tussac) are described from the remnant forests of the western and central cordilleras of Colombia: C. coronocrypta, C. coronata, C. pedunculata, and C. queremalensis. The flowers of C. coronata are unusual in the genus in having a corona, as in genera of Gesneriaceae pollinated by euglossine bees. Columnea pedunculata is distinct in having pedunculate inflorescences.

Four new taxa and nine new combinations are required for forthcoming floristic works by the authors. The new taxa are Centaurium tenuiflorum (Hoffmanns. & Link) Fritsch subsp. anglicum T.C.G.Rich & McVeigh, subsp. nov.; Centaurium × klattii P.Fourn. ex T.C.G.Rich, hyb. nov.; Centaurium × ubsdellii T.C.G.Rich, hyb. nov.; and Gentianella amarella (L.) Börner subsp. occidentalis T.C.G.Rich & McVeigh, subsp. nov. The new combinations are Centaurium erythraea Rafn var. latifolium (Sm.) T.C.G.Rich, comb. et stat. nov.; Gentianella amarella (L.) Börner subsp. anglica (Pugsley) T.C.G.Rich & McVeigh, comb. et stat. nov.; Aria parviloba (T.C.G.Rich) Sennikov & Kurtto, comb. nov.; Cotula sessilis (Ruiz & Pav.) Stace, comb. nov.; Elymus × drucei (Stace) Stace, comb. nov.; Elymus repens (L.) Gould f. aristatus (Schumach.) Stace, comb. nov.; Elymus athericus (Link) Kerguélen f. setigerus (Dumort.) Stace, comb. nov.; Ulmus minor Mill. subsp. cornubiensis (Weston) Stace, comb. et stat. nov.; and Dysphania ambrosioides (L.) Mosyakin & Clemants var. anthelmintica (L.) Stace, comb. nov.

Six new species of Vaccinium, identified as new to science by the late George Argent while compiling a revision of Vaccinium sect. Orianthe for New Guinea, are described and illustrations provided.

Odontostemma balfouriana (W.W.Sm.) Satish Chandra & D.S.Rawat is recorded here as a new record for the flora of India. Surprisingly, the species (previously known as Arenaria balfouriana W.W.Sm.) was erroneously considered to be a synonym of Stellaria depauperata Edgew. After examining protologues, fresh specimens and herbarium specimens housed in BSD, CAL and DD, the authors have resolved this taxonomic confusion and provided a new combination and lectotype for Arenaria balfouriana. Additionally, Stellaria depauperata, illegitimately combined under Arenaria, is resurrected and recognised as a distinct species.

Salsola cyrenaica subsp. antalyensis (Chenopodiaceae) from the S Anatolian coast near Finike is illustrated and described as a new subspecies. Its anatomy, relationships, ecology and phytogeography are discussed. The new subspecies differs from subsp. cyrenaica by the reduced number of flowers per leaf axil, very dense axillary hairs, the smaller size of most floral organs, mostly 3 instead of 2 stigmas and 5 not 3 wings on the fruit. The new taxon grows in a narrow coastal strip of c.2km only, in open dwarf-shrub communities on limestone rocks from sea level to c.40m. It is the first representative of the S. longifolia group, sect. Coccosalsola, from Turkey and from the northern shores of the Mediterranean.

Two new species of Convolvulus (Convolvulaceae), C. excelsus R.R.Mill and C. infantispinosus R.R.Mill, are described from Saudi Arabia. Convolvulus excelsus, an exceptionally tall species, has affinities with C. erinaceus Ledeb. but is phytogeographically disjunct from that and other allied species. Two new subspecies are also described: Convolvulus hystrix Vahl subsp. dhofarica R.R.Mill, from Oman, and C. oxyphyllus Boiss. subsp. sheilae R.R.Mill, from Saudi Arabia. Each novelty is given a provisional IUCN conservation assessment.

Teucrium (Lamiaceae) from NE tropical Africa is revised. Of the six species recognized, three new species are described and illustrated: T. clementiae Ryding from E Ethiopia and N Somalia, T. somalense Ryding from NW Somalia, and T. polioides Ryding from NE and C Somalia. Maps and a key to the species are also provided.

The following descriptions of new taxa, new combinations, lectotypifications, and nomenclatural notes are required for the forthcoming volume of the Flora of Bhutan (volume 3, part 2, Gramineae). New species: Agrostis ushae Noltie from India (Sikkim), Arundinella dagana Noltie and Cymbopogon bhutanicus Noltie from Bhutan. New subspecies: Deschampsia cespitosa subsp. sikkimensis Noltie from India (Sikkim) and China (Tibet). New combinations: Agrostis petelotii (Hitchc.) Noltie, Urochloa supervacua (C.B. Clarke) Noltie, Cymbopogon munroi (C.B. Clarke) Noltie, Urochloa villosa var. barbata (Bor) Noltie, Themeda triandra var. laxa (Andersson) Noltie. The following species are reported here for the first time from the following countries. Bhutan: Neyraudia curvipes Ohwi, Tripogon purpurascens Duthie, Elymus duthiei (Melderis) G. Singh, Urochloa panicoides P. Beauv., Spodiopogon lacei Hole, Microstegium falconeri (Hook.f.) Clayton. China (Yunnan): Agrostis zenkeri Trin. Bangladesh: Panicum laxum Sw.

Hypserpa ademae Takeuchi (Menispermaceae) is described from the Bowutu Range of Papua New Guinea. The novelty is distinguished by its whiplike inflorescence, 6-merous male flowers, and glabrous, cordate leaves.

The new species Begonia maguniana H.P.Wilson from New Guinea is described. It is endemic to the Central Range of New Guinea at altitudes of c.1700–2300 m and belongs to the IUCN category Least Concern.
