Robert Molesworth was a leading supporter of William III in Ireland. Attainted in 1688, he was reinstated after the Revolution and in June 1689 was sent to replace Sir Gabriel Sylvius as envoy extraordinary to Christian V of Denmark. He landed at Elsinore on 8/18 July 1689.

James Vernon, sent to Copenhagen as envoy extraordinary in 1702, was the elder son of William III's secretary of state, of the same name.

A Lexander Campbell, Lord Polwarth, was the third son of Patrick Hume, first Earl of Marchmont. Having married in 1697 the daughter and heiress of Sir George Campbell, of Cessnock, he changed his name after his father-in-law's death and sat in the Court of Session as Lord Cessnock, assuming the title of Polwarth on his elder brother's death in 1709.

John Campbell, Lord Glenorchy, was the only son of John Campbell, second Earl of Breadalbane, whom he succeeded in the title in 1752. His diplomatic conduct seems to have been neglectful; he was oftener away from Copenhagen than at his post; and he received censure for the inadequacy of his reports.

Walter Titley, after distinguishing himself at Cambridge University—he obtained the Craven Scholarship in 1722—opened his diplomatic career by attendance on John Hedges to Turin in 1726. Returned, he was sent to take charge of affairs at Copenhagen in 1729 and was promoted to be minister resident there in 1730 and envoy extraordinary in 1739.

Dudley Alexander Sydney Cosby was the son of Pole Cosby, tenth holder of the estates of Stradbally, Queen's County, acquired by Francis Cosbie in 1562. He came to Copenhagen in March 1764, with the character of minister resident, to help the aged Titley in his work, but after a year a cerebral affection obliged his return home.

Robert Murray Keith, addressed in the dispatches as Colonel, was the eldest son of that other prominent diplomatist, Robert Keith. His distinguished service in the Seven Years' War and his subsequent diplomatic career, including his forcible rescue of Queen Caroline Matilda from her prison, have received full notice in the Dictionary of National Biography. In June 1772 he escorted the fallen queen to her refuge at Celle and was then promoted to Vienna.

Morton Eden was the youngest son of Sir Robert Eden, baronet, of West Auckland, Co. Durham, and a brother of that distinguished statesman William Eden, first Lord Auckland. Before coming to Copenhagen at the end of March 1779 he had served at Munich and Ratisbon.
