Green development has gradually become the trend in today’s world. Because of the past development situation, China attaches great importance to green development in recent years. In this chapter, we first present China’s green development model, which is based on the ecological environment and resource carrying capacity constraints, with green economy, resource conservation, environmental friendliness, and social harmony as the main contents, and green innovation is the basic approach to sustainable economic growth. The main objectives are maximization of resource utilization efficiency, optimization of environmental protection, and optimal allocation of social welfare. Then the course of green development in China is historically summarized. Furthermore, this research introduces a series of laws and regulations for promoting green development in the Chinese economic system, resources, and society. In addition, the chapter presents the current status of green development, the current range of issues and challenges it faces, and corresponding suggestions for countermeasures and suggestions proposed based on an evaluation index system under construction. Finally, a future action plan for green development in China is proposed.
