Summary

Of the three versions of this letter, the one sent to Arnaut-Belgrade survives in what may be Sabbatai's own autograph copy. The fuller text of the ‘Sofia’ version was preserved in a manuscript, apparently no longer extant, copied by Yitzhak Ben-Zvi in Aleppo in the 1930s. The shorter ‘Sofia’ version is the one given by Baruch of Arezzo in the Memorial (§25).
