Preface
That's not right, but is it wrong? That question is the rationale behind this book. How often have you been confronted with an image on a thoracic CT exam where you knew it didn't look “normal,” but you weren't sure whether it was “abnormal” either? And if it is abnormal, is there a specific diagnosis you should be able to make directly off the images? How many times have you grabbed Keats when confronted with a difficult pediatric film and wouldn't it be nice to have a similar reference the next time you had a difficult thoracic CT?
Distinguishing normal variants from rare diseases can be difficult and there isn't really a concise source for that in the thoracic CT literature. This book is designed to fill that niche. Whether it is identifying normal variants that you can ignore or showing pathognomonic images of rare diseases to allow you to make that one in a million diagnosis, this book will give you the guidance you need.
