Summary
A 54-year-old man is admitted to critical care following extensive debridement of the left lower limb for necrotizing fasciitis. He has established ARDS but there is also concern about a pulmonary aspiration event on induction of anaesthesia. He is on a noradrenaline infusion but remains hypotensive and oliguric. You wonder how ultrasound might be applied in this case to help guide fluid administration, respiratory management and vasoactive therapy. There is also concern about perfusion to the operative limb. Could you also use ultrasound to help here?
