Summary
Even if God exists, one cannot correctly justify moral rules and ideals with reference to this (or any other) divinity. If so, what explains the genesis and prominence of so-called ‘moralizing’ religions, such as Christianity and Islam? Many other issues are discussed, such as: What role can religions play in resolving the greatest moral challenge humanity is facing today, the problem of human-induced global warming?
