  • Summary

    This chapter discusses the right to education as it is protected by the European Convention on Human Rights, other Council of Europe instruments, in EU law and in international instruments. It pays attention to both the right to access to education and the right to respect for religious and philosophical convictions of parents. Moreover, it discusses the right to education as both a civil and a social right. In the final section, a short comparison between the different instruments is made.

  • The history, current situation, education and future directions of modern Mongolian space science and astronomy is reviewed. This paper discusses recent efforts to develop astronomy education and research capacity in Mongolia with cooperation of the International Astronomical Union. Various capacity-building initiatives in space science including remote sensing in Mongolia are discussed.
