The Editor-in-Chief and Managing Editor of PDJ would like to remind our readers that as of last year the Powder Diffraction Journal has decided to assume an Open Access Hybrid format, as the ICDD has adopted the widely accepted standard that experimental data should be open access. You can read more about Open Access on the Instructions for Contributors page (https://www.cambridge.org/core/journals/powder-diffraction/information/instructions-contributors).

You can also read our very first open access article by Stacy Gates-Rector and Thomas Blanton, titled “The Powder Diffraction File: a quality materials characterization database” in the December 2019 issue (Gates-Rector and Blanton, Reference Gates-Rector and Blanton2019). ICDD refers our readers and authors to this reference when citing the PDF® database(s).

Additionally, when submitting a manuscript to PDJ, data files such as .cif, .raw, or .dft are expected to be included as per our Author Notes. These data files will be deposited with ICDD and can be requested by contacting ICDD at . If you have questions regarding this policy, please contact Nicole Ernst Boris at .
