On p.220, there is a mistake in the translation of the provided epitaph. It should instead read as follows:

“For Edward Carne, Britanno, knight, lawyer, ambassador of the sovereigns of England concerning the highest affairs of State to the emperor, to sovereigns, and twice to the Roman and Apostolic See, on the second of which embassies he was sent by the religious sovereigns Philip and Mary. When the Schism broke out in England after the death of Mary, he freely endured to be deprived of his native land for the Catholic faith, and died with a great reputation for honour and true piety. Geoffrey Vaughan and Thomas Freeman, his friends, erected this monument in accordance with his will.”109

Alongside this, Footnote 109 now would read:

109Cleary, ‘The Carne’s monument in Rome’, 13. The original Latin text reads: DOM EDOARDO CARNO BRITANNO EQUITI AVRATO IVRICONSVLTO ORATORI SVUMMIS DE REBUS BRITANNIӔ REGVM AD IMPERATOREM AD REGES BISQ AD ROMANAM ET APOSTOLICAM SEDEM QVARUM IN ALTERA LEGATIONE A PHILIPPO MARIAQ PIIS REGIBUS MISSUS OBORTO DEINDE POST MORTEM MARIӔ IN BRITANNIA SCHISMATE SPONTE PATRIA CARENS OB CATHOLICAM FIDEM CV MAGNA INTEGRITATIS VERӔQ.PIETATIS EXSTIMATIONE VERӔQ. DECESSIT HOC MONVMENTUM GALFRIDVS VACHANVS., THOMAS FREMANNUS AMICI EX TESTAMENTO POSIBIIT. ANN SALVITIS MDLXI XII CAL. FEBR.
