An Injector-Planter for Subsurface Placement of Herbicides

Abstract

We constructed an injector-planter which simultaneously plants seed and injects herbicides. It effectively placed volatile herbicides under the soil surface in precise spatial relationship to crop seed. Rolling coulters, placed in front of the herbicide delivery system, enabled the unit to cut through trash better than previously-described equipment and, therefore, perform effectively under a wider range of soil conditions.
