Reliability of Violent Death Certification in One Coroner's District
Published online by Cambridge University Press: 29 January 2018
Summary
Classifications given to self-inflicted deaths between 1959 and 1972 by a coroner and his deputy were compared for differences in the use of the suicide, accident, and open verdict definitions. The coroners varied in their use of the open verdict and the suicide verdict for poisoning cases but not for deaths from other causes.
